MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

I actually love seafood, but won't touch sardines or anchovies. Just never appealed to me. I would be so ticked off if my 1/2 tasted like that!! Hard lesson learnt LOL

I love seafood too! I could just about eat it every night. We did when we were on vacation at the coast. A different seafood restaurant every night. My favoite was a white fish stuffed with crab and shrimp. Hello!

My niece needs your prayers. My step-sister just called and my other step-sister's daughter has been in critical condition all night. She has pancreatitis and her liver isn't working very well. She isn't very stable apparently. She is only twenty-two and in her last year of college. Her name is Kristy and she needs us!

We were in Europe when I was 12 and I remember being so grossed out that they would always put anchovies on the pizzas and were so dumbfounded when we would ask to have them left off. I'm with Kate, there's no way to remove them yourself and salvage the pizza....and WHO can crunch down on something that has an eyeball staring at them??? YUCK and double YUCK.

We are going thru one of those household phases where one thing breaks and another springs a leak soon after. The garbage disposal sprang a leak in the early evening so I can't use one side of my sink or the dishwasher. A few hours later, one of the water heater lines burst open and we had to shut off the hot water line. Granted, we are always having issues with this on-demand water heater, but for them both to happen within hours of each other was a bit much. Today will be a plumbing day, I guess, as we can't wait until Monday to fix them. Don't like to do this on Sunday, but it's a necessity.

Am leaving soon to pick up my friend's autistic son and his sister to watch for the day and take to church later. He's been put on some different meds lately and so this is not as much of challenge as it used to be. For awhile, he was blowing up and becoming physically violent towards me. Thank goodness he's only 9 and couldn't do too much other than bite...which did hurt. I really wrestled with telling her I couldn't do it anymore but just couldn't do that as they each have to work 20 hrs a weekend building their house thru the self-help housing org. It's wonderful how God steps in and helps guide you to solve situations that come up. The thought kept coming to me that his meds needed adjusting..and that is what worked. He'd grown out of his previous dose and things needed to be changed. I know that God is mindful of our hearts desires and will help us attain them

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday,
Carol

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Kate, Thanks for letting us know about your niece. I will keep her and the family in my prayers.

Lisa,
They have the FAVE Greek- style yogurt at Costco in the large size. I want to say it's about $9 but am not positive.
Carol

I have been reading, but not much time for posting. The entire family is heading out for DD's indoor soccer game.

Those of you on the east coast who are having good weather, enjoy it, we have rain today, that is probably headed your way. Sorry to be a party pooper.:confused3

Good morning everyone! I feel like this on this particular morning (afternoon). :faint: The computer work I did yesterday was exhausting. We are going for a BBQ. I am not up for it at this point, but I don't want to cancel. Our new friends are really excited, and I think they are already disappointed we're not there yet.

Jocelyn, thank you so much for all of the recipes you find and post! I appreciate you, your company and your recipes! It's really nice to wake up to the lovely shares you leave for us!

Kathy, I'm sorry about your plumbing issues you had to face today. How are you going to plumb while looking after a special needs nine year old?

Pony, I hope you get sunshine in between all of your visits and chores. Maybe you could barbeque your meat? Then you'd get the sunshine while cooking! I'm glad your feeling the smaller sizes finally. It's beginning to look like the wheat's might be the culprit.

Fish with hair?

Kate, it's great to see you this morning! I was wondering where you were last night! I'm sorry your dear one is having to work so hard. Is it because they are trying to make the upcoming holiday season work financially I wonder? I think that businesses are being less considerate of employees since the economy is so bad. Which is really the opposite of what they should be doing I think. I think happy employees give more. Not to mention it's the right thing to do.

Lisa, I'm having to smile at all of your plans for a bread pudding get together. :) I have never had bread pudding. Yep, seriously. I have had rice pudding however in Puerto Rico. I don't think that there is anything Puerto Rican's have not done with rice, lol. I'm glad I learned to make it in their traditional way. It sure is appreciated at home!

I'm also smiling of the thought of you with a paintbrush and your son's house. Have you considered he may want to do a funky artistic paint job? You will probably have to be satisfied with painting the backdrop!:rotfl:

Pony, your having the Bailey's after church, right? Oh yea, it's afternoon!

Happy Sunday ALL

Robin – I had forgotten how yummy the chili was with the other spices in it. By the time it was time for dinner we had to eat it. It smelled so good!! I added the extra chili powder, but I found it a bit too spicy for me, but Bob said it was perfect.
A dab of sour cream toned it down.

I’ll transfer the recipe to the recipe file today.

Kathy – can you get the Shiritaki or Miracle Noodles? They would be great in your soup and 0 carbs for the ones I get.

Is brandy coffee a liqueur? I’ll have to Google it, I guess and see what I can find. I also think I have a peanut butter cup recipe, but don’t see it on the computer at the moment.

LCF is still a great resource for recipes – just use their search engine

Lisa – I’m sure Trader Joes’s yogurt is yummy, but for those who do not have a TJ’s Costco has started carrying the Fage Greek Yogurt. Yummy, too!!

Carol – it sounds as if you have more on your plate than you need today – and not food wise!! We seem to have household items do the same as yours. Fortunately Bob can solve most problems.

I admire you for taking care of a special needs child. The meds are soooo important, though and am glad they got them adjusted.

Robin – if you are feeling different – i.e. no bloat – maybe you should just follow the plan for one more week and then deicide before buying a lot of other things to try – although they won’t hurt you!! Of course, it is 4 PM there as I write this, so your shopping is long done and neatly put away!!!

Oh Kate – how sad about your niece. Prayers are going out for all involved.

Nell – glad you enjoy my ramblings!!!

Hi Natalie

I’m caught up and am off to the gym. It really windy here so don’t think swimming will make it. Our plans for the day were cancelled – YAY – so can go do my own thing!! Bob was glad, too…..

Quick break to check in...Kate, so sorry about your niece and you KNOW we will all immediately get to praying for her...there is such GREAT power in our Faith in the Lord!

Hi Bev and Natalie, wondered where you two got off to!

Lisa and Kate - Can we have seafood before our bread pudding? Or maybe bread pudding for appetizer, seafood for lunch, and then bread pudding for dessert? ! :lmao::dance3: Love me some bread pudding!!

Nell - hope you have fun at the BBQ...its kind of like me and the gym...you dont want to go til you get there, then you have a great time and are so glad you went!!

Jocelyn - My chili is done too and boy does it smell good! Be sure to post that recipe!! Im not feeling the HUGE bloat, but still need to see if the gluten free week will help reduce the belly roll any...:confused3

Carol - my heart goes out to you on your household repairs...my debacle with the hot water heater a couple weeks ago had me in a lather!! Hope things go smoother for you after today...

Kathy - if I had to work somewhere that microwaved anchovies, Im afraid I would have had to quit!!

BTW, the Easy Baileys recipe was the PERFECT addition to my coffee this morning!! Nell, I go to church in my living room, as I am an avid follower of Jonathan Falwell, and he broadcasts live on sunday mornings! The church itself is just SO HUGE, theres like over 1000 people at every service, and they do 4 services every sunday! Im really bad in crowds...just not a fan, so I am able to enjoy the music and the sermon from my couch! I am so lucky that Pastor Falwell is available to me anytime by e-mail too, he is a wonderful person.

Off to the dump...yep we live in THAT rural an area!! LOL, but its the dog's favorite ride every week...all I have to say is Want to go to the dump? And he loses his little doggie mind!! Hes in the truck before I even get the stuff loaded up!

Kate: I am so sorry to hear your niece is ill and we will pray for her and all of you. Please check in as often as you can to update us on her progress.

Carol and Jocelyn: Thanks for the Costco tip on the Greek yogurt. I need to go there to get some halibut anyway.

Robin: Yes, we can have seafood first! The next day we should go to this fish house in my son's neighborhood. They have the best fish tacos I've ever eaten and sweet potato fries. Plus, the award winning crab cheese soup. Ahhhhhh!

Nell: I hope you had fun with your new friends today!

Carol: It is so kind of you to help your friends with their child. What a gift!

We worked in the yard for 7 hours and took a hot tub before dark. It was wonderful. Do you think it's possible I could feel better after one day on Vitamin D???? I don't know how much I should take. The article says 2000 IU minimum, but not much more than that if you aren't being tested and monitored. I took that much yesterday and today. Today I feel fantastic in spirit. Yes, I spent the day outside, but the difference was today I felt doing it. Yippee!

Hi guys. Just got back from another walk. Got my shoes today. I can tell my feet aren't hurting as much, thankfully.
Jocelyn, didn't think of the shirataki (sp?) noodles. My one grocery store does have them. So I'll be picking those up tomorrow for sure. So I'll make it tomorrow and freeze it into serving sizes for me.
I absolutely LOVE bread pudding. Have thought of making it many times, but never have. I don't think it's too hard to make. Step 2, I'll make some for sure.
If I don't make it back before I fall asleep, have a great night everyone. Sweet dreams.:grouphug:

OK Lisa, NOW you are speaking my language!! fish tacos! Cheese crab soup! Bread Pudding! Glad the Vit D seems to be working for you...I had two co-workers who were tested as low vit D last year and both of them felt WAY better after only a few days with supplements.

Kathy - glad your feet are feeling better! Let me know if you figure out a legal for step 2 bread pudding...I hadnt even thought about that, sinceI figured it would be Yukky with wheat or whole grain bread, but maybe not!!

Lisa - I cant find any greek yogurt, but that 4g Polaner blackberry jam tastes AWESOME mixed with my plain old store brand yogurt!

Common ground isn't too hard to find, huh?? Yummo on all the above! The Greek yogurt we found was only 8 carbs and my regular plain, I remember was 14 sugars, but I don't remember how many carbs. How many is yours? This Greek yogurt is as good as ice cream! I'm still mad we can't get that Polaner.

you know, I haven't gotten myself to church in a while and reading that church is in your livingroom got me thinking that I could do that too when I don't want to go to church (have been questioning my feelings about the church these days). Just never thought to watch something on Sunday mornings!!

I just posted the recipes and saw that Carol has put up a couple that sound yummy. She has one for sweet potato pie that might be better than using pumpkin - not sure of the carb differences.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2310630&page=3 is the link to our recipes. It takes a bit of going back and forth to find it!!!

Did you find canned yams that were not sweetened, Robin? I forgot to look when I was at the store. I'm sure I have purchased them that way. I am the only one that likes yams, so don't bother to do much with them except to bake a small one for myself once in a while. I haven't done that in ages, though.
