MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Hope everyone had a lovely day! We just puttered around here, but it was nice. Glad I kept my old bras put away. I fit back into one today. No sardines on the menu today! Just cooking extra chicken so we have leftovers through the week. Maybe chili tomorrow! I was too busy and didn't get my Vitamin D today but Tom's going out so he's going to look for me. I get so melancholoy in the Fall, it's very weird. Hope it helps!

Robin: I like to try different foods, but there are some I don't like based on expereince - liver, oysters and sardines - oh, yeah and beets! My parents made us take a taste of new foods and Dad wouldn't allow us to disrespect my Mom's cooking. If we didn't like something, we couldn't say we hated it or he would be very unhappy wiht us. She was kind and didn't make things we didn't like often, though;) We still have to make a date for that bread pudding in Portland when we are skinny. And only after we hike the forest!

I entertained Mom with stories of you all and our Godiva ride yesterday. She thought it was really neat how we've all become such good friends. She wanted to know where everyone was from.

Love you guys!

They should have at least 2 grams of fiber and not be over 20 net grams. There are quite a few that meet that formula. Aitkens Advantage Chocolate Coconut and the Peanut Butter ones do, too. That's all I've bought so far. Please tell Melanie we miss her and to get well soon!

If my Dad were left alone too long he would live on sardines and Ritz crackers. They are good for you, but yucky, I agree!

Good evening everyone. Just got back a bit ago. Not much going on here I see. Well, I only got 1 purse, but wanted to get quite a few more LOL. I have transferred everything into it, so I'm good to go. I have come to realize I now need a new wallet also :confused3
I got the cutest little shirt. It is a beautiful purple color, sleeveless, and has a low turtle neck with a ring design down the front. I absolutely love it! I tried one on, a large, and had to get a medium!
I did blow my WOE a bit today. Went to The Italian Oven. I had the soup and salad. I got the wedding soup. It had pasta in it. I only had 1 serving of the soup. I am thinking between this and Thanksgiving, Dec.1 won't be a good time for step 2. Maybe Dec 8 or 9th. Just to make sure.
Malzer, hope you feel better soon!! Sending some prayers your way too.
I'll try to catch up with you all later. If I fall asleep before then, sweet dreams and God Bless.

Wow Kathy! Congratulations of the size Medium!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hi Lisa - We finally agree on yukky foods!! OMG, I DETEST beets, liver and oysters too! DOUBLE YUK...but I am ALL OVER that bread pudding....cant wait for that day, it will be so much fun! Is Kate coming with us too? Too funny about your Dad...if mine was still alive he would live on pickled pigs feet, anchovies and ice cream!

Honeygram - Lisa is right, there are a ton of different Atkins bars...you just have to read the nutrition panel, NOT the front of the box, to be sure there are at least 2g fiber, and the net carbs are between 11-20. There are alot of them that are only like 6-8g net carbs, so be sure to get one that has at least the 11g for step 2. I have also bought the Zone bars...I currently have the dark chocolate almond ones which are 22g total carbs, minus 2g fiber...so its 20g total and just fits into the 11-20. Plus they are very chocolatey and full of dark chocolate antioxidants and under 200 calories!

Please tell Melanie we are thinking of her and hoping she is better soon!

I am counting the minutes...almost outta here!

Robin and Honey: Robin said this better than I because I forgot to mention the minimim number of carbs has to be 11. Good going Robin! Did you see that paragraph from the news I put in this am about chocolate fighting cancer??!! Awesome!

Kathy: We need a pic of you in that size medium! You go girl! :banana:That's amazing! I bought a sweater the other day and when I got it home I was psyched that the price tag said M, but the label in the neck said L, like I thought when I picked it out, lol! Macy's messed up the price tag.

Kate's definitely coming to the bread pudding fest at the Portland Bar and Grill (top of the tallest building in town). Keep in mind, though, Portland doesn't allow buildings to interfere with the view of Mt. Hood. You can see about 7 bridges over the river and 3 major snowtopped mountains from up there! Kate and I might have to drive so we can bring our dogs on the hike, lol! We can stay at the Residence Inn on the river cause they are pooch friendly:)

Natural Baking Cocoa fits into that category too. :) As long as it's not dutched cocoa, or alkalized cocoa. I use the baking cocoa and sweeten it myself so that I don't have to worry about the sugars they add.

Thank you follks for the info on the bars!!!Looking forward to all that. I am so afraid of never losing again on step 2. I guess everyone probably feels that way. I know I am not alone!! Also we have tradition in our family of Turkey/gravy and all trims for the holiday. But would you believe I would be so excited to just have a bowl of CHILI. :cheer2: Everyone have a good nite!

Honeygram, I was about 312 when I finished step one and I'm at 302 now. It's been almost a month. Don't worry, this way of eating does work. In some people it's faster and some it's slower, but it slowly but surely works.

I’m just sitting down to the computer for today. I have been sorting through a stack of recipes and info I have saved for the past year or so!!! It is a BIG bag of junk. I found a WW recipe I used to make all the time that I turned into a low carb one and had completely forgotten about. It is for chili, but has slightly different seasonings. It is on my other computer and I tried to e-mail it to the lap top, but it didn't work. When Bob gets back I'll have him sort it out. I think he changed the internet connection. I'll post it when I get it in this computer. It is really good and it is getting to be that time of year where most of you are located. It is simmering in my crock-pot right now and boy does it smell good. We'll have it tomorrow as we will be out all day.

We are having a rainy day here so it seems a bit wintry. It does cool down this time of year - but not to where it gets really cold. If we need heat we have to turn the oven on!!

Lisa - it sounds as if you will not have to go undie shopping now!! Did you go through San Andreas yesterday? It is such a funny little town. I love Sutter Creek, but we now by-pass it on our way to Sacramento with the new road.

Nell - your garden should be lovely. I'm not sure I miss gardening anymore, but I do miss a nice lawn to sit on. Of course, I really love the beach for my front yard.

Honeygram - tell Melanie how sorry I am she is so ill. Hope she recovers soon. My husband loves the Atkins Peanut Butter Bars. We get them at Wal Mart. I also like the coconut, but I know a lot of people don't care for it. I noticed they came out with a Sweet and Salty Peanut Bar, but don't know the counts or how it tastes. Reading labels becomes a real past time!!!

I see that has been answered. I had to go pick up hubby in the midst of this note!!

Robin - I think you get the day off tomorrow??? I admire you for keeping the schedule you keep. We don't add any liquid to our eggs, but we do add cheese and meat and veggies as they are cooking. I would have a really hard time giving up cheese, too, so hope dairy is not the problem. Is the Atkins Vanilla shake dairy free? I know some people use them in coffee.

Speaking of shakes, I found a recipe in my bag for a Shamrock Shake that is supposed to taste like McD's.
½ cup light cream
½ cup water
½ teaspoon peppermint extract
1 tablespoon Da Vinci sugar free vanilla syrup
3 drops green food coloring
Put in blender with a few ice cubes.

I would think you could add the peppermint extract and food coloring to Atkins vanilla shake and have the same thing!!!

I also found a mock Bailey’s that might be simpler than the other one:
1 shot of low carb chocolate syrup
2 shots of heavy cream
1 shot of rum
blend together and pour over ice or into your coffee

For a non-alcoholic drink you could use rum flavoring, too.

Certainly easy

Hi Carol - I had to give up looking at neat accessories as we have NO storage space here. I gave away tons of stuff when we moved here and do not want to have to go through that again. There are some lovely things out there, though. I have a plate my grandmother painted and that is used for desserts for company all the time.

Kathy - did you get your purse?? or purses?? (Whoops! Had to go picik up Bob and see you bought one!)

Here is the Chili Recipe: - (my problem got sorted out!!)
Chili Parlor Chili

Recipe By : WW -modified Low Carb
Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Casserole Low Carb
Main Dish

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pound ground beef -- browned
1/2 cup onion -- chopped
1/2 cup green pepper -- chopped
2 cans black soy beans -- drained and rinsed
1/4 cup low carb catsup
2 cloves garlic clove -- minced
1 tablespoon chili powder (I used about 3 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon powdered mustard
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes -- to taste
1/4 cup water
1 can tomatoes with green chilies
1 teaspoon garlic salt

Brown beef and onion. Add the rest of the ingredients to a crock pot. Cook on high for one hour, reduce heat and cook for 7 or so hours until flavorful.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

NOTES : 6 grams of usable carbs per serving. Diane said black soy beans were free – this would be less carbs. If you want to use regular kidney beans look at the carbs on the can and re-figure.

Have a lovely, restful Sunday everyone.

Love to ALL:love:

My dad could live on Sardines also. What is it with Dad's and Sardines?

Mine too, as well as smoked oysters.

Actually, I ate both of them with him but haven't had any in a long time. We used to take sardines on the sail boat and mix them with fresh onion and soy sauce. You get creative when on a boat!!! I had forgotten about all of that until you mentioned sardines!!
:laughing::laughing:

I hope your dreams were sweet and peaceful.:)

Congratulatons on the medium top. That is one of the biggest motivators of all - smaller clothes. :yay::yay:

Home again! Actually went to the gym, thought my 14 hour day would have me too tired, but I went anyway and presto, my energy has returned!! OMG, Im probably going to crash hard and sleep half tomorrow away!! Cant though, have to shop for "gluten free week"...I swear shopping and label-reading has become my national pastime!!!

Nell - I know, it seemed like there was nobody around earlier! but Im getting used to the fact that most everybody besides me seems to have an actual LIFE!! I guess its not so bad Ken is delayed in China...I wouldnt have much time to see him these days anyway!!

Jocelyn - Thanks for continued new recipes and tweaks to older ones...that Baileys recipe will suit me just fine and I actually have all the ingredients on hand! Might just be Pony's treat for tomorrow for working so much this week and staying away from the chocolate cake! I am making chili tomorrow too...using the black beans and your spices...cant wait!! i am one of those who uses the Atkins Vanilla shake in coffee...will have to check it for dairy, but since it is not chilled on the shelf I am hoping there is no actual dairy involved...I do enjoy those! The black beans seem to agree with me, so Im going to try to slip them in everywhere I can, as I will be using them at Diane's recommendation often during GFW! (gluten free week).

Honeygram - I agree with you, I would be perfectly content with a nice bowl of chili on Thanksgiving too! I can honestly say I am not interested in any of the usual fixins like stuffing, potatoes, etc...so will probably be content with some turkey and gravy, 1/2 sweet potato, and some salad and greens.
Will probably make up that 5x5 pumpkin pie just so I can try it...SueAnn said it was GREAT!

Anyone know if I can use canned sweet potatoes, or do I have to use fresh? There are GREAT deals on the canned ones in the store right now, and they are the huge cans, so would be great if I can use those!

Kathy has me all interested in the sales and coupons these days!! I just scoured the sales flyer for my grocery store, and all kinds of deals to be had, so its going to be a "stocking up" day for Pony tomorrow!

Hope you all have a great night and a better Sunday! Love You All!

Check the label on the cans of sweet potatoes. Sometimes the canned ones are sweetened. Hopefully not. I don't see why you couldn't use them if it's just vegetables and salt.

I was really interested in the simper Irish cream recipe Jocelyn posted as well. I didn't want to make so much up and this one is for just one glass. I'm a lighweight! :rotfl: I will probably use the recipe now and again. Now I need someone to develop a low carb coffee brandy recipe. :) I'm looking at budgeting because of Kathy too! She's a great motivator!

I hope you hear from Ken soon and that if he is stuck over there a while, that he can get home for a visit at some point.
