MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Good morning everyone. I am up bright and early today. Already got my filing done. I had to be up by 7 to let the "door" man come in and measure our front door. We are getting a new one. I believe the door that is on the house is original and the house was built in 78.

Got 2 loads of laundry done and I'm ready to go to work now. Hopefully, I won't be too busy paying everyone elses bills and making sure they have the right information to me. Oh, and my sink is shiny too Kathy!

Hope everyone has a great day!:lovestruc

Morning Cindy! Is this the door guy the one that didn't show up twice before? I hope he shows up today. I bet you are going to love having a new front door. DH would give anything to replace our front door. But it isn't just a matter of putting in a new door for us - it is a major project for a number of reasons. So we are stuck with the old, old, old one that he hates....

I love to bake with the babies. I bought cupcake fixins for Saturday during the day so they don't go stir crazy before we go trick or treating. They are already so excited and can't wait to wear their costumes. :yay:

Cindy - what are they going to be? My older daughter always came up with great ideas. One year she was a dice. Her dad got a big box and she painted it white and then painted the black dots. Her head poked out the top of the box and she painted her face white and she wore black leggings. It was very cute. One year she wanted to be a spider. We bought those foam tube thingies that you float on in the pool and painted them black. Then I sewed them to back of a over sized black sweatshirt. It was very cute too! Every single year from Demi's first Halloween when Demi was 6 months old we trick-or-treated with my girlfriend and her kids. It was a fun tradition that we always looked forward too.

Nell and Kathy – we are also “kitchen” people. We have an island in our kitchen with up to 5 really comfy wrought iron bar stools, and it’s always where everyone congregates. I love the more casual atmosphere it provides.

Honeygram – Nice to see you.

Sunnee – the only thing I see with your posted menu was for breakfast you have a tortilla and ½ a banana. The banana counts for 15 g., is your tortilla 5 or less? If so, you are good. Great to hear about your blood results. P.S. Glad you found us at Part Deux.

Mal – I use a deli ham that is 0 carbs for 6 slices. It is the Oscar Mayer thin sliced smoked ham. I have used 6 slices and a piece of lf cheese for a breadless rollup before.

Carol – yes your Excel should already be there if you see an icon on the desk top.

Robin - glad you got your "man fix".

Cindy - sounds like a busy day. DD10 is now getting to the point where she can bake by herself, but she leaves a mean mess in the kitchen. She made 3 dozen cupcakes on Saturday for the Boy Scout Ghostwalk, and then ran over to the Yacht Club to work at the Halloween Party there. Needless to say my kitchen was a disaster. How come nobody ever cleans up after me? :confused3

I think this year was the first time I haven't had to sew a Halloween costume in a lot of years. I have a pic of my DD when she was 2 or 3 here on my desk. She did make the cutest duck. I have made Harry Potter robes, Woody from Toy Story costumes, etc. This year DD10 and 2 of her friends are going as the Blues Brothers, so I made a quick trip to the Goodwill and picked up a shirt, pants and jacked for about $7. They seem totally unconcerned to have miraculously added a third brother. They also told us they don't want us coming with them. They'll be safe in the subdivision and the boys' mom will be out with the 2 little girls. We'll be at home getting ready for the weenie roast we are hosting. DH's club is closed this week since they are installing a new HVAC system, so he gets to participate in Halloween, which is very unusual for him. Not sure what DS15 is doing this year.

Well, I need to get to work. I'll check back in later.

I'm really confused that Mal got a response from Diane about her ham and I never heard from Diane about my concern about my slow weight loss. Oh well.

YAWN.....early for me, but got to talk to Ken, so I will be tired but Happy today!!

Nell - thanks for the hug, I was more frustrated than disappointed! Darn those international calling circuits anyway! We tried there to here, I tried calling from here, tried 3 different operators for assistance, but no way were we getting through last night!! Maybe its just everybody trying to call at the same time and not enough circuits...who knows!:confused3 I do know that even if it takes a day or so, we are still getting to talk every couple days...the bad news is that he might not get back here to the states before having to return to china, but its all good...this is a very important contract for him and I am being very understanding!! He is so afraid I am going to take off on him...and of course you guys all know that AINT happening!!:love:

Melanie - so glad you got clarification from Diane, her messages always make me feel better and are a huge sigh of relief!!

Jocelyn - my posting problem finally went away, have no idea what goes on sometimes! Please let us know your recipe for the nuts...I am going to try Kathy's too, as the one in the book was good, but Kathy's sounded much better!

Robin - so glad that you got to talk to Ken. I hope that the project he is working on goes well.

Been a very long time since I had a little one to dress up for Halloween, but Ali, ( my DD) called yesterday laughing hysterically to tell me that she had bought a costume for their dog, ( a regal and snooty hunting dog), because she and her fiancee are taking his kids trick or treating Saturday and they wanted to take Banjo along...she bought him a Shark costume and had put it on him when she called...she said it was totally hilarious with a big fin on the back and two smaller ones sticking out from his sides...and apparently he didnt mind wearing it either!!:rotfl:

We dont get any kids coming way out here, but my godson is 14, so maybe I should break down and make some cupcakes for him...get in the spirit a little!
Haha, wonder if he would appreicate a little flax in his cupcakes!!

Hi, Nell. I am so excited for you to have your new table and chairs. It is going to be so nice to have and I am sure it will be great for Thanksgiving. I thought that it was just going to us (4) for Thanksgiving but now my dad and his girl friend and my sister, her husband and her 4 kids are coming. My house is not very big so I am not sure what we are going to do? I am not going to stress about it. I know it will all work out and it will be nice to have everyone here.

I have been meaning to ask you. You mentioned your broccoli soup recipe the other day? I wasn't sure where to look for it?

I can't wait to hear about your lily when it blooms!

Beverly - way too funny about the three Blues Brothers.... Jake, Elwood and ????

I think you should email Diane again. She has been so good about responding that I would have to guess that she either didn't get your email for some reason or she overlooked it by mistake?

It was nice catching up with everyone this morning. It has been hectic at my office again. One of my clients was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2003 and it has spread to her brain - she had surgery about a year ago on a brain tumor - her quality of life has really diminished. Last week her soon-to-be ex-husband was diagnosed with cancer - he has tumors through out his entire body. They have been together since my client was 15 years old (she is 54 now). It just seems like it has to be environmental? I feel so bad for them. They have a 24 year old son. He just got married. My client's situation is going to get a lot worse since her husband can't work anymore. She has been barely making it financially and now he can't pay her any support. Her mother does live in the area so at least I know she will have somewhere to live.

Yes, same guy. Long story short, his job slip for my house was stapled to another job and the 2nd time they wanted a confirmation call but didn't tell my daughter to tell me that.

I'm sorry you can't get a new door. The one we have is so outdated, it's bad.

I guess we need to come up with a name for the 3rd brother. Kind of like the old Newhart show, I'm Jake, this is my brother Elwood, this is my other brother Elwood.

I hate to seem like a pest to Diane. This is the first time I e-mailed her. I think I will wait until the end of the day. If she hasn't replied by then, I'll send another one.

How awful for your client. I saw a blurb on MSN.com the other day about a husband and wife who are both suffering from breast cancer at the same time. Talk about long odds.

DD - isn't sure. She's borrowing one of her friend's outfits. She was Alice in Wonderland last year
DS1 - Scary dude dressed in black
DS2 - bunch of grapes (we're putting a garbage bag and balloons all over him.
DS3 - Spiderman
DS4 - Batman

I told the older kids they needed to be more creative this year as I wasn't going to purchase costumes for them this year. Every year gets more expensive and I just can't justify it when they don't take care of them to reuse (DD does, but 2 older boys don't).

The little guys are so excited and have tried on their costumes 2x.

Sounds like you enjoy sewing/creating their costumes. I love the spider idea! I'm going to have to use that one.

OMG Kate! That's so sad! :sad2:

Good Morning Cindy! sounds like you already have half a days work done! I like the Atkins bars...they all have different carb counts, so just check each different flavor...I even used the 7g ones on step 1, just divided into 4 bites and left one off, then combined the "last bites" to make another 5x5! LOL, since you are on step 2, they should all be fine, I dont recall that any of them were over 20g. Most of the other protein bars are way high in carbs though...I had some Zone bars I had to give away, they were like 28g, 33g, so I read more carefully now!

They need to have 2 grams fiber and I remember I had to read a few to find two that were allowed. PB is good and the one that's like a mounds bar.

OOOOO....there's some like mounds bars!!!!!! I LOVE coconut, could be cause I'm a little nuts. hehe I need to look for these.

Thanks for the info Lisa. Sounds like I'll be losing my beloved ham. I think by the time we are all finished we'll be eating "whole" again, like they did in the old days. I was looking at the ingredient list in Malzer's ham. I saw "nitrite", I am assuming those are nitrates. What other words do I need to look for, do you know?

You are asking the wrong person, Beverly, because if it has ingredients you don't recognize or that aren't meat and natural spices, I wouldn't want it. Even some natural things like molasses are added to some meats and there's just no need for it. It's sugar. A lot of junk is added to processed food to make it last longer in the store. I'd just buy sliced whole meats and freeze half or something like that if you can. The people at the deli are great about reading the labels and answering questions for you. They'll even set the slicer to your specification.

I would love a new double one so we can bring in the Christmas tree without scratching anything, but as you say, it involves construction. It will make a big difference in Cindy's house, won't it? I can't believe how much difference it made to just get new coach lights.
