MM - To Get or Not To Get?

Has anyone gotten the MM after you already received your bands? How do they link them then? We go on the 20th and I am still undecided....
Yes Ive added it after receiving the bands. Check band threads for info on them but basically it is linking it to your MDE account that is important. If you do it more than 3 days before just call reservations purchase the advance option and they link it to MDE.

I ordered mine after I had my bands. I clicked on the link in the MDE app to order and it automatically linked.

For BBB, not getting the package with the photos, so MM would be a great bonus.

Cool...so they'll just take adhoc pictures (or do you call them over for that)? The hopscotch one sounds sweet. Yeah good idea to get different combinations of our family.

He was in the United Kingdom and had taken a couple of pics of all of us with the different buildings in the background. A few minutes later, he saw my niece playing hopscotch where they had it drawn with chalk on the walkway, he took the pics and then handed us a photopass card.

Which restaurants do they have MM photographers in?

Are there a lot of photographers out in the parks? Are they there during the parties? I had not planned to get it, but all these positive comments are convincing me otherwise...

I went back and forth about it for upcoming trip. It's just my husband and I, and we really won't be seeing many characters unless we stumble across them. I did end up purchasing it because the ride photos alone will get us our money's worth. With those you don't even have to stop to have them added to your photo package- they will just appear in your account later. On top of that you've got photographers at a ton of scenic areas just waiting to take your picture, and as the previous poster said it doesn't take long at all.

So if you go on one of the rides with PP, you don't have to find your picture at the end of the ride and add it to your MM? How does it know which photo is yours?

There aren't photogs in any of the restaurants. At CRT and Tusker House there is a photog at the beginning for a pic with Cinderella and a themed pic.

In the parks there are photogs everywhere. Often within 20 feet of one another at popular spots like Main Street and Epcot entrance. Not sure about parties, but I'd assume so.

Magic! :wizard:

You do absolutely nothing but ride the ride, then log on later and your pics are there even if your party is split. Example on Buzz my wife and I took our little guy while my folks rode behind us, all 5 of our pics were in my account within an hour.

This is all very cool. And love how the photographer continued taking pictures even after you had finished of the simple, but yet precious moment.

Now one thing I'm confused of...what is this photopass card??? I thought everything is linked to your magic band.

Photopass card was the old system and still exists for those without MBs. If you have a MB, you're all set.

Also they take pics before, during and after a meet. I love this shot the photog took of my kid running to meet Mickey for the first time.

Oh my gosh...soooo sweet. You can see his excitement.

Thanks for explaining. So just need magic band then if we have one.

But...if you do certain extras things (Jedi Training, Enchanted Tales with Belle) they will give you cards that you have to link to your account manually. They can do that linking for you in the photo centers at the park, or you can link them to your Memory Maker account yourself after you're home (or in the hotel at night). There is a code on the back of the account that you use to link the pictures from that session.

The advantage to linking in the park is that ALL the pictures of ALL the kids in your Jedi Training/Belle session will be linked to your card, but the CMs will help you select only your photos to link to your Memory Maker (there is a kiosk in the photo centers for doing this). If you do it yourself online, you have to manually delete hundreds of photos of kids that aren't yours. The Photopass/Memory Maker website has been slow in the past and it can take some time. I always do it myself, though, because I don't like to waste park time waiting in line at a photo kiosk.

How did you get it for $99??? Isn't it $149 (which is more for us in Canadian dollars)?

For time consuming...didn't you have to link or do something after they took the photos? Or do they just quickly scan your magic band?

As for characters and rides...the only characters outside of CRT, Akershus and Chef Mickeys meals planned is A&E (doesn't mean we won't do more but that's all that is planned).

And we only have a few of the rides...Splash (DS and DH only), Test Track, ETWB (didn't realize that one is in the list), Jedi if we can get it...

Sounds like you got some great photos though and really captured everything..

Totally my mistake! We paid in pounds... and it was something like £87, for some reason I just rounded it up to $99 in my head! Whoops! You're totally right though... I'm sure its $199, $149 if bought in advance! So sorry!

We bought it through MDE, and selected will call as the postage method - it was already linked automatically to our bands when we collected them at check in. When a photographer takes your photo, they'll just sort of buzz your magic band. If you're on a ride, I believe it just scans your band during the ride.

We didn't do that many characters... certainly, the only ones we queued for were A&E (walked through in 25mins without fastpass... I was quite chuffed!) and Woody - Woody was actually the longest we waited for anything, at 45 minutes. The rest were characters at meals... so CRT (the cinderella photo when you enter), BOG and Crystal Palace.

We are at Disney now with a 4 year old DD, and DSs 8 and 10. We got the memory maker. Is it convenient? Yes. Is it worth the money I spent? Definitely not. And we have ridden every thrill ride and seen lots of characters. My phone takes pictures that are good enough.

THat said, this is a personal decision. If you REALLY, REALLY care about pics and want to take the time to deal, you'll probably find it worth it. I'm going to love some of the candids, but, eh, not worth $150 to me when I can take almost all the same pics with my phone.
