I have no idea what this forum is for, but I was wandering through some antique/junk stores yesterday and happened upon an old, once painted white, gate that had MM and a 37. I have no use for it, but I bet it woud be a real find to the right person. Anyone know the history of these????

Sounds intriguing Jweiss. Are the numbers and letters part of the gate itself or painted on? Do you suppose the MM could be the initials of the homeowner and 37 would be the house number?

It is a 'rod iron" gate. the MM (mickey mouse) is the three circles. the 37 is part of the gate itself.

DUH!!! Hit me in the head! Mickey Mouse!!!! How neat is that!?! You're right, that certainly would be a great find for some Disney fanatic!

I've been trying to find something outstanding about the '37', thinking that it might represent 1937, but nothing jumps out, at least in this context....the most significant thing I've found is that Snow White was released that year.

I wonder, like Tuli, if the 37 is the house number.

Sounds like a neat find!

Welcome to the F&GB, jweiss! :)

Do you have a place in your garden/yard to put your new "art"? How distressed is it? Sometimes, the more distressed it looks, the better! :)
