Well, it went down to the final day but we finally have all eight teams in place and ready for October baseball! In my book, there's nothing better, so I thought I'd open a thread where fans of all the postseason teams could discuss the games. Here's how it all begins:

Oakland Athletics @ Minnesota Twins - Tuesday @ 1:00 p.m.
St. Louis Cardinals @ San Diego Padres - Tuesday @ 4:00 p.m.
Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees - Tuesday @ 8:00 p.m.
Los Angeles Dodgers @ New York Mets - Wednesday 4:00 p.m.

The Tigers were certainly a disappoinment to their fans this weekend in getting swept by the Royals, but, had Jim Leyland asked any NY fans (Yankees or Mets), I think they could have told him that today's game was over as soon as Kenny Rogers took the mound. Two things that do not go together: Kenny Rogers and October baseball. I really think that something physiological happens to Kenny Rogers' brain when the calendar changes from September to October. :teeth:

So, let's talk October baseball!

The Dodgers and the Yankees, with the Dodgers winning it all.

We have a few dreamers here! NYY will take it home this year. I think it will be against the Dodgers though!

I'm just checking in to say "Go Tigers!" I've followed them for 40+ years so I'm hoping for the best against the dreaded Yankees. :cheer2: They just seemed so pitiful this weekend. :guilty:

I am glad the Yankees drew the Tigers in the first round. Minnesota pitching scares me in a short series!

And yes, I am thanking the baseball gods that the Angels are not in it. The Yanks can't handle them :confused3

Ok, I'm on the wrong thread...

Man I need a V8 :thumbsup2

I'm looking forward to seeing Santana and Zito go head to head tomorrow afternoon. That should be a great match-up. Game two of Mets/Dodgers is going to be Glavine vs. Maddux. How cool is that? :smooth:

I do think my Yankees will come out on top this postseason, but the Division Series, at only 5 games, always makes me nervous. Truly, anything can happen in the short series. I'm glad that the Yankees will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, no matter whom they face. With the Mets having HFA in the LDS and potentially the LCS, that means plenty of games in New York City!

I truly believe there will be another subway series, but I think the Dodgers have a chance to knock off the Mets in the NLDS. And, my apologies to fans of the Padres, Cardinals, Dodgers and Mets, but whichever AL team makes it to the World Series will be the champions. I hope it's my Yankees.

GO YANKEES! GET THIS MAN A RING!

Huge Mets fan here!!! LETS GO METS!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

LET'S GO A'S!!!

I have my tix for the entire series- right through the World Series! I'm hoping to use them all!

Thank you! I appreciate it!

Of course, I hope the Mets win it all (that's my heart talking)! Do I think they can....I really don't know.

Losing Pedro hurts them pretty majorly, but all the teams (AL and NL) have their weaknesses and there's really no clear favorite, so who knows what will happen?

I don't have any rooting interest one way or the other this year. I think on paper, the Yankees are the strongest team, but even their pitching is suspect, so we'll see.

I'll be sitting in my regular season ticket seats right behind homeplate at the Metrodome today hoping Santana can find himself again and defeat Zito! Of course, it's the hitters that have to get the best of Zito, not Santana. Should be a interesting and low scoring game!

The way the Twins ended it was so Cinderella like, that I can't help think this Twins team is like the '87 team. That team also had a lot of young guys who came up together just like this one does, and had a lot of team cohesivness (if that's a word) like this team does. Everyone on the Twins team seems to pull for each other and the whole more than for themselves.

SUBWAY SERIES????? I sure hope not, because that leaves the rest of the coutry totally out of the World Series. HATED it last time. I'm hoping for Twins and Dodgers in the WS! :cheer2:
