MK without kids-yes, we are meanies!

DH and I are planning a late Jan/early Feb weekend without DS for our anniversary. DS doesn't really care. He is excited that he gets to spend TWO nights at Nanni's.

Now, we are thinking about doing the MK. Has anyone gone to MK without the kids after having kids? Do you end up feeling guilty? What rides or atractions do you head for first?We would like to start off the day with an early PS at CRT and go on every ride in Fantasyland and then go from there.
We are thinking about hopping over to Epcot for the evening and dining at San Angel Inn, since we love it there, but our DS does not! We may stay at MK , though and go to Tony's for dinner. Any opinions?

Disney without kids is fabulous. Yes, even MK. Take your time to notice the detail on the building. Plan a nice sit down meal at the Castle for lunch or dinner.

We have a marvelous time because we do not have to please the child and only do the age-specific things they want to do AND if we want to act silly and kid-like ourselves we don't embaras the kids.

Everyone owes it to themselves to go at least once without kids. The hard part is then going back to taking them. I'm sorry that the "guilt" thing kept us from doing it until our kids were grown.

You need the down time from the kiddies! I'm taking a down time trip away from the whole family in February with my sister and brothers. (At WDW, of course!) I would just focus on each other and how much fun you are having.

You definitely need time away from the kids to recharge!! Don't feel guilty about it - you'll probably return as a more refreshed and relaxed parent.

Enjoy your time together. Now you can do what YOU want to do and you don't have to do any ride just because your son likes it. There is so much for adults to see and do - RELAX & ENJOY!

We did a Disney trip without our kids a few years ago. I felt so guilty, that I told them we were going to the Bahama's. I finally fessed up when we got home and they didn't seem to care at all. They had a great time with Auntie. We're coming up on our 20th anniversary this year and decided to do another trip without the kids. We had a great time and I even have a whole day at the MK set aside on this itinerary.

Definitely don't rule anything out just because you'll be travelling without your kids. You'll just get to see everything in a different light, thats all.

Last year we went without our DS (2) for 4 days, this year we are going without him (3 now) for 3 nights......I don't feel guilty because he gets to go once or twice a year with us, and when he's along- the trip is planned around him (How many times in a row can we ride Buzz Lightyear?). When my Husband and I go alone, we get to eat leisurely meals, and ride "adult" rides (How many times in a row can we ride RNRCoaster?). It's an entirely different trip! And last year we had breakfast at CRT by ourselves- enjoyed it immensely- much more so than when we took DS in Dec. (spent the entire meal trying to keep DS in his seat) (Is it just me, or does the food always taste better when you aren't trying to distract a toddler?). Then we did MK for half a day. Enjoy yourselves- don't feel guilty!

No you're not meanies. We have taken 2 trips of 5 days each without our kids to WDW. The last time we spent close to 17 hours at MK in one day. We started with the KTTK tour at 8:30am and stayed until 12:30am for e-night. We left for about 1.5 hours to relax on the beach at the Polynesian but the remainder of the day we enjoyed the MK. I believe we did all the rides at least once including Dumbo.

If you feel too guilty, you should plan another trip to WDW with the kids. That's what we always do. BTW our kids are 5 and 7 and we taking them in Nov. as we went without them in May.

Don't feel guilty we have been going twice a year. Once with the kids and once without the kids. Our trip with the kids is typically during that first week of June when they are out for Summer Break. The once without is usually during the first or second week of Christmas, we love the decorations. this year we are actually taking them twice. they are going for four days of our 10 day trip in December this year. we wanted them to be able to see the decorations. It is a bummer thought that there will be no Spctacle of Lights at MGM this year due to the construction of the new stunt show.

Hope this makes you feel a little less guilty.

Ok, call me crazy but I would feel guilty. DH and I went three times a year from "91 til "96 either with family or by ourselves, then in '96 took DS when he was 3 weeks old. We all have been there 3 to 4 times a year as a family, either just the three of us or my mom comes with or family from up north joins us. It is not that I don't think DH and I wouldn't be able to have fun without DS, but we did it for 5 years without him.

DH did take me on our first Disney Wonder Cruise for our 12th Anniversary without DS. We did want to check that out before we took him, to see what it was like. It was sad not having him along, but we did enjoy our weekend together. By the way, it was only our second time leaving him. The first time was our 11th anniversary and at that, we were only 1 1/2 hours away for the weekend. It was a bit scary on the cruise worrying about how we would get back if something had happened , but my mom took good care of him and they were doing lots of stuff and so were we, couples massage, snorkeling, the surreal bath oh so very nice.

We have gone twice without the DCherubs and it was heaven. I can't explain to you how magical and wonderful our trips have been. It was like getting to know each other all over again, laughing and joking and just relaxing. Now don't get me wrong, I love taking the Cherubs down and that is a whole other magical experience.....did I feel guilty? Yep, for the first 5 minutes of our first trip alone in almost 12 years.....that went away fast. We have taken our kids back since and their Christmas present this year is a surprise trip leaving on the 26th. Have fun, enjoy each other, it is a whole different wonderful experience! Pixie dust to you.....

Its a WHOLE new Ball game without the kids! I took mine 3 years in a row, ages 14-16, and the 4th trip I planned they said they DID NOT want to GO! I was SOOO thrilled, I have been going by myself since than! (1999). Its a BLAST! Just remember to go slow, as I found myself going REAL fast until I realized I was ALONE! You get to see so much that you didn't notice before!

Let's just say my DD8 made out well in the gifts from Mickey Departmemt.

There was defenitly some guilt but I did explain I was doing some boring mommy things. I did the backstage magic tour as well as the WL tour.
