MK to Boma -how long should it take?

I have friend going to WDW in a few weeks. She has a 5:05 ressie @ Boma on her MK day. What time is recommended that she leave the park to get over to the Animal Kingdom lodge? Does she need to allow an hour? She hated to leave the park that early but would do whatever she needs to keep that early reservation.

BTW she could swap her reservation to 5:25 @ Whispering Canyon Cafe. I am wondering if that would be better b/c of closer location / shorter transportation time.

This is their 1st trip & are complete WDW newbies. Bless her heart

The bus ride is about 25 minutes, and the wait for the bus could be up to 20 minutes, so yes, 1 hour before would be the latest to leave the park.

The bus ride to WL is only 5 minutes, so about 40 minutes before should be adequate. I don't how long it takes to ride over on the boat, or how often they run.

We've done those routes a few times, yes they need to give an hour for MK to Boma, and 45 min for MK to WL.

I agree with the PPs.

She should be walking out the gate at the MK an hour before her Boma reservation. AKL is at the opposite end of DW and takes about 20 minutes by bus. If she just misses the bus there might be up to a 15-20 minute wait for the next bus. Also, at AKL the bus will stop first at Kidani Village and then at Jambo House where she'll get off for Boma.

For Whispering Canyon Cafe she should allow 45 minutes. The boat ride is about 10 minutes, but if she just misses the boat, it could take up to 20-30 minutes for the next boat to arrive, unload and load. There is a bus to WL, but the boat ride is much nicer and more relaxing.

Thanks! I was betting on an hour for Boma but I didn't figure as much time to Whispering Canyon. I'll share your information with her. Love the Dis!

have her keep the Boma res., she will ove it! an hour is about right...and the lobby is so pretty, plenty to see if they're early....
