I booked the Terrace Fireworks Dessert thing at MK for my first night there with my family 8/22 despite the fact it's not on the DDP... Is it worth the cash. What types of desserts are avaialble? Is it a full meal? I didn't see a lot of information on the dw websited about it.

It's not a buffet for a meal BUT it is a buffet of desserts after dessert...

Some of the desserts:

Some of the desserts we had a few years ago, we have gone quite a few times, they add a few new ones and switch them up a bit:

Mango Shooters: Very good, tart, and have a "consistancy" to them. I am sure they are a hit or miss with people.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries: Excellent!! The berries were perfect, not mushy or overripe and the chocolate was very good, definetely not Hershey's.
Tiramasu: Very rich and wonderful. DS started a new love affair with this dessert!
Tarts: Different fillings like lime, custard, and chocolate. All very good. The fruit was excellent, except the crust was not "homemade". It was more of a mass produced bottom and it was very evident. Still very good though.
Fresh Fruit: very good, fresh, and cold for the first half of the evening.
Truffles: very good, but rich, one at a time... one at a time!;)
Creme Brulee: I was so excited to try this. I have never had it and it was on a lot of the menus throughout Disney. It was so wonderful and I found a new "favorite" for desserts. I still dream about them. I have even googled restaurants in our area looking for them.... Yes it was that good!
Peanut Butter dessert: Also very good and rich....
Cookies and Brownies: Oh my, I am editing this in, I can't believe I forgot them! Soft wonderful large cookies and brownies sent from the Heavens, thick and chewy.

Off to drinks: Coffee, tea (hot), tea cold unsweetened - plain and blackberry, lemonade, milk, and water... I would recommend anything unsweetened to take the bite off all the desserts you are eating!

I think it is worth the money, many do not. We eat a late lunch, and them this is dinner. Not really a "dinner", we usually have a sandwich or something very non-sugary later in the evening.

I think it will be a great way to end your first day. The only possible problem is that you will not get to see the Electrical Parade.

The Dessert Party begins 1 hour before the Wishes fireworks. On 8/22 the fireworks are at 10 pm which is also park close. The party therefore starts at 9 pm. So does the parade. You can see the tops of the bigger floats but you are a good distance away, and besides you will be concentrating on your desserts at that point. If the parade is important, hopefully you will be able to come back another evening and see it.

You just want to get to the Terrace (the party location) 10-15 minutes before the party starts to check in. At the start of the party you are shown to a table that has your name on it; this is not an ADR for a next-available seat. You can then help yourself to the buffet and beverages until 5-10 minutes after the fireworks end. CMs will obviously be starting to clear dishes during the fireworks but will happily leave your plates/glasses if you ask them to.

You will have a wonderful view of both the fireworks and the Magic, Memories & You show beforehand. We were actually more blown away by MMY than the fireworks. Some people stay seated; others move up to the railing but there is plenty of room to see. I think it's a perfect way to cap off your first day of your first trip, with a perfect view of the Castle. Special hint: weather/winds permitting, the Fireworks start with Tink flying from the Castle basically straight to the roof of Terrace. Have your camera ready!

I think it was worth the money, but I would reccomend eating before hand and not using this as a meal. We skipped dinner and figured we would just gorge on dessert, which we did, but we all felt uggy afterwards and were craving actual "food". I think we all had cheeseburgers after we got back to the resort. The desserts are yummy, but it's not a substitute for a meal.

Re: dinner. Since the Dessert Party does not start until 9 pm I agree that you will want some food, but I would not schedule a TS dinner that evening, especially if you are on DDP. It would be a good day for a TS breakfast (Crystal Palace, if you are going to be in the MK all day, or CM is nearby on the monorail), a mid-day snack, and a CS meal around 4 pm. You do not want a big TS meal with a big TS dessert 2-3 hours before the party. Lots of good CS options, either in the MK, on the monorail, or back at your resort if you take a mid-afternoon nap or swim break (always a recommended activity in August).

We've got a 4:20 dinner planned at the Plaza... I think I've got this day planned perfectly. Thank you for all your help and guidance.
