MK Strategy HELP

Going to Disney second week in May and will have one day in MK. I was looking at a map and it seems that all of our High Priority Rides are in Fantasyland - specifically we really want to do small world, peter pan, philharmagic, and adventures of pooh. After that the next priority would be to ride Buzz Lightyear but that is the only ride high priority ride for us in Tomorrowland. Our plan is to get to MK 30 min prior to opening (no emh) and then head straight to Fantasyland and only do the 4 rides listed above, then head over to Tomorrowland to either ride or get a Fast Pass for Buzz Lightyear. If we get a Fast Pass for Buzz, and time allows, we would like to walk over to Adventureland or Frontierland - about how long of a walk would that be from Tomorrowland? Does this sound like a doable strategy? My son really wants to do Buzz. My husband and I will each have one stroller and I'm not sure how long it will take or easy it will be to get from land to land in MK. Thanks for any advice.

If those are your only priorities, I think you're all set. I would suggest going to Pooh, then Peter Pan without FPs. Then Buzz - you may be able to do that without a long line this early. Then go back to do Small World, and finally Philharmagic. Pooh, Pan, and Buzz will fill up VERY VERY QUICKLY.

If you're brisk walkers it shouldn't take more than 5 - 10 mins to get from Tomorrowland to Adventureland with a stroller. (Just remember to cut through Main Street and not go all the way around, like I've seen so many people do)

I would do Dumbo first. I know that you didn't mention it above, but because Dumbo is stop and load ride the line will build quickly. After Dumbo, I would go FP Pooh. Your return time to Pooh will be around 9:40 – 10:40. I would then go ride Peter Pan and IASW. After riding them, I would go ride Pooh using the FP. After Pooh, go to Philaharmagic. Go see the show or if there is a wait until the next show, I’d ride the carousel. If there is still a wait, have DH take all tickets and walk to Buzz and FP Buzz, you stay and relax with the kids while waiting for the show. There are a couple of stores that you could walk in while you wait or just find some shade.

When DH gets back go see Philharmagic. After Philharmagic, walk to Buzz via the Toontown Village. If you have time before your FP, either ride the Tea Cups or go to Toontown (if after 10am when it opens) and ride the Barnstormer. Then off to Buzz and ride Buzz. From Tomorrowland head to Adventureland, with family maybe a 5 minute walk crossing over the hub in front of the castle. I would suggest that you relax somewhere and take a short break and let one of the adults take all of the tickets and get a FP for SplMtn or BTMR and when they get back go ride the magic carpets and the jungle cruise possibly even POC if FP time allows - Ideally it would be nice if the FP time allowed you get your next FP before riding POC. Take a short break and one of the adults go to which ever Mtn you don’t have FPs for to get those tickets – come back and ride POC. Then head over to the Mtns and use FP. Before using the 2nd FP have one adult go get the FPs for HM if the time is available to get another FP while the others wait by the mtns. Then walk back and do the other mtn FP that you have.

The key is to always have a FP and to get a new FP once time allows (which is printed on the FP when you can get another FP). What works great for my family is to have one of us adults do the running around to get a FP while the other adult is with the kids doing the “smelling the roses” kid of stuff. While one adult is getting FPs the other has the kids visiting a character or having a drink in the shade. This keeps the kids from have to do all the running around that it seems that adults can handle but they can’t.

This works for my family at all parks. We don’t mind criss-crossing a park (adults that is) I consider it good exercise. We’ve been doing this since our kids have been little and we go every yr and our kids are 9 and 5. It works for us and my kids can last the whole day in the park because I am not running them into the ground and as for us adults - well, with all the walking that I do, let just say I can eat as many Dole Whips that I want and it won't hurt me. ;)

You've gotten great advice! I just wanted to add that if your kids enjoy the train, you can get to it very quickly from Tomorrowland by taking the trail on the side of Space MT. Hop on the train and you can get off right by Splash. Makes for less walking and my boys love the train.
