We are doing rope drop tomorrow morning at MK. I haven't been since they changed the opening procedure. We'll be heading to BTM and Splash first off and don't want much of a wait. If we get to the TTC around 8am (9am park open) is that too early? Too late?

I think you're good. Baring big transportation delays, you're going to be walking on Main Street with plenty of time to spare. We've done the "straight to BTMR at RD" thing several times this year. We hug the rope by the Liberty Square bridge area. Show will be at 8:55 and it lasts a few minutes. They'll drop the ropes after that. In my experience the big chunk of people take the immediate right past the bridge and go up to 7DMT, leaving a much smaller crowd that's moving on to BTMR.

Sometimes we've been paused 1/2 towards Frontierland by another line of CMs, but jut briefly.

Have fun! The new procedure makes this all pretty darn easy/painless. Much better than before.

Would someone mind explaining what the new opening procedure is?

For a 9AM opening, everyone is let in starting 7:45-8AMish. You're free to roam around Main Street up to the castle/hub area. Many shops are open, Starbucks is open, etc. Some of the street vendors are out. The "welcome show" is at 8:55AM on the castle stage. It has charachters and a cute song, but it's not quite as fun/memorable as the old Train Station welcome show.

After the show they "drop the ropes" around the different paths leading away from the hub and the park is open!

While I do miss the Train Station welcome show, this setup leads to a much more orderly and even flow of folks into the park in the morning. It's actually fundamentally changed the way we approach a MK RD, in a good way!

Thanks GADisneyDad (from a GA gal :)
Starbucks is now at Disney?! That alone will be incentive for my family to get there early :sunny:
