MK Photo session price increase?

Do you get proofs? I mean I know you can buy the disc with the pics, but does the pics go for both wedding and MK? Does anyone know? I would rather spend themoney on the cheaper MK and buy a disc with every pic on it. Can you do that?

My WP told me that with DIsney photography gives you all of the pictures they take. They are yours ot do with whatever you want after the wedding. They do sell the CDs that all the pictures are on but for a hefty price. Needless to say, I'm fine with just getting all of the pictures, and they don't say "proof" on it. I'll scan them into my computer and send them to people.

Well, Lurkyloo, I don't know about doing any of that. I really am pretty frustrated right now though. Summer's wedding is in October, same as mine, and she's getting $800. Tiggerific hasn't sent in her planning packet yet... we haven't either, but I have booked the date for our MK PS, and we've been very pro-active about this all along, trying to get it in motion since we sent in the contract back in February, yet she's being assured not to worry about it, that it will only be $800 for her, and we're being told there's nothing they can do for us. That they'll give us a free 11" x 14" for our troubles. Well, gee, thanks a lot, but at this point, I don't want anything to do with DPS. I can get an 11" x 14" anywhere if you sell the digital cd at a reasonable price like the other photographers do. What you can do for me is sell the MK PS without making me feel as if I am being completely ripped off!

I had planned on doing all my floral through DFTW just because it was easier, and because I'm really not doing much, so it wasn't going to add up to much. Now... I'm still going to do the corsages and the boutinieres (sp? eek!). I had already decided that $125 for bouquets for my matron of honor and bridesmaid was way too much, and talked to my sister (matron of honor), and decided they would both get a kick out of having the rose wands, which, supposedly, a 3-rose wand is only like $45. So I will do that.

But, we are also doing a unity candle. I had planned on just getting that from them too. But at $200? Not anymore. Not after this. Maybe that seems small, and they probably won't even notice it, but it's the principle of the thing here. This is wrong. I just went looking around, and I found a really adorable unity candle with a Cinderella theme for $69.95. Fits in with my wedding better, and is much cheaper besides. Here it is:

And if we weren't already at pretty much the bare bones as far as Disney-provided amenities, I'd be looking at what else I could cut.

Hi

My wedding is actually in August and I sent in my planning contract in February and I emailed Tanis in October about the MK photo shoot and it was confirmed then. I am so sorry that you are being jerked around. Tanis confirmed to me that she is honoring the price I was quoted as I booked it so long ago. I do think it's still expensive but the whole reason I wanted a Disney wedding was to get those MK pics, I don't think it's something I would want to forfeit.

Oh, I misunderstood Summer. Even so, I'm finding this to be ridiculous. The planner is trying to tell us that these are the 2007 prices, that they have been in effect all year, when it is obviously not so.

The other thing is the website. I just looked last night. The website STILL lists $800 for the MK PS, even after all this. So does our wishbook. The wishbook is supposed to be a budgeting tool.... but how much of a budgeting tool is it if they tell you completely different prices when you go to actually book the elements?

And when we brought up the fact that the website and the wishbook both still say $800, she pointed out that they do say that all prices are subject to change. Well, sure. Most websites selling something do say that. And what they mean by that is that the price you see here today could change tomorrow. Not that the price you see here today could be completely different than the actual price we will really charge you if you call right now and buy this product. To me, that's false advertising.

I totally agree with your frustration, osxgirl. I'm stymied why Disney would continue to deny you the original price, especially when it's only a difference of $200. On our end, that could be a lot, but to Disney, that's chump change. Like someone else said, maybe you could go above your coordinator's head and explain to them what you told us: that they were going to lose x, y, and z business from you all over $200. That's ridiculous; not good customer service at all!

osxgirl...I am with lurkyloo. In the beginning I got a letter from some guy who is head of the wedding dept or something like that, I know we all did, encouraging me to share with him any comments about the DFTW, I will look for the letter, but I'd start there. Sorry, but what you are going through is ridiculous!!!! If you were quoted that price, others ARE receiving that price AND they have not had the decency to even change their website after all the controversy, it should be $800 for you also. I work in a store, what is posted is what I have to honor even though we frequently change our prices. If someone doesn't bother to put the correct price on it, we have to honor the old price...we too have signs about frequent price changes, does not matter. I tell you this because in one of our stores up North this was challenged in court, and we lost. Just a thought, but I would look higher up for more answers. I am not suggesting court, but sometimes people feel they are just doping their job and someone else may give you a different answer. Especially since they will lose all your photography business if that is their final answer. Best of luck, I am sorry you are going through this, I hope it turns around for you!!

While I understand it is very frustrating Disney always says on everything "price subject to change" and really, what is $200 bucks when you are spending thousands for a wedding. You shouldn't lose out on something that you really want for principal. You will regret it in the long run.

My MK photos are booked for October 24, 2007.

I booked them back in February and was quoted the $800 price tag.
Tanis has called me back since that time, and confirmed that I had added it to our package, and it was indeed $800.

:confused3

I just wanted to pop in and say that we had our WDW wedding in October 2006 with characters and an MK shoot and our experience was amazing!

Our characters (we had Chip & Dale and Mickey) all stayed for ATLEAST a 30 minute period and I think it was longer. I haven't heard of a lot of couples that have had shorter time frames but I am sure it has happened. It was not our experience.

We also had our MK photos done and WOW I am so glad we did. Our photographer was top notch, he took many many photos and the entire experience was one of a lifetime for us!! I'm so glad we spent the money. We did receive all the photos but will have to wait to receive the high res cd as we do not want to pay $1000 for it today.
