I need some help in selecting a TS restaurant at MK or at a resort nearby the MK.

We currently have Chef Mickey's planned for a day that we have also planned to be at MK. It's close by so we can leave the park and return just as quickly. We have been to Chef Mickey's before and were happy with it, but I want to try something new.

We already have Crystal Palace lined up for another day and don't plan on going here twice. And we do love Crystal Palace.

We will have a 5-yr old and a 2-yr old, so we need to go somewhere that has menu items they will be able to select from.
Any thoughts on where you would go for TS in the MK or nearby resort with a 5-yr. old and 2-yr. old other than Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's?
It does not need to be a buffet or even need to have characters.

We have never eaten in the castle, but I heard this was 2 food credits on the Dining Plan. Is this true? :confused3

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.

We always enjoy 1900 Park Fare. We've done dinner a few times and breakfast once. It is a large buffet with characters.

Are you looking for breakfast, lunch or dinner?

We love the character breakfast at 'Ohana in the Polynesian. We've eaten at Kona there too and liked it (both breakfast and dinner). If you've never visited the Poly, it might be worth a boat or monorail ride over there.

EDITED TO ADD: Yes, CRT at the castle is 2 TS credits. Many people report mediocre food but the princess experience can be worth it, if that what floats your little ones' boats.

If I were traveling with two kids and looking for a TS around MK, then I would definitely be trying to get into a more quiet place, a break from the crowds and stimuli, and a place that would SERVE me (since you already have the buffets listed) to have my meal be a nice break.

Looking at the available TS that fit in with my wants and desires, I would look at the menus for Kona (Poly), the Grand Floridian Cafe (GF), and The Wave (CR) so see which one appealed to my family the most and go there.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. We are looking for a dinner.

We do have breakfast at Ohana's that morning. Looking forward to this - have never been and can't wait to check out the Poly.
Oh yeah - and I hear the buffet is good too. :)
My 5-year old loves Stitch - this will be a treat for him.

I will check out Kona's menu.
Thanks!

Have you been to all 3 of these restaurants? Which is your favorite?

As far as TS goes - in all of MK, we have only been to Crystal Palace.
Have never been to the Grand Floridian or the Poly. But as I mentioned in my previous post - we do have a breakfast planned at Ohana.

I haven't been to any of them!:rotfl: But they are all non-buffets that would appear to be "quieter" than the only other non-buffets around MK, Ohana and WCC. And that's what I would be looking for to add to the mix of buffets and other fun restaurant experiences you already have planned.:goodvibes

We have a few favorites that we really like to have dinner at. If you want to do a signature dining, I'd recommend Narcoosse's at the GF. Really great food and great view of the castle, especially for fireworks if you can get a reservation around that time. At the Poly, we like both Ohana and Kona Cafe. Ohana is an all you can eat where they bring skewers of meat to the table. Kona has a more "native" menu. Some really great choices there. All three of these restaurants, we try to make sure to eat at every trip.

Happy Dining!!

You can try the Whispering Canyon Cafe (WCC) over at the Wilderness Lodge, its a fun place, and you can take the boat over from the MK and check out the gyser and WL lobby, they even have lincoln logs for the kids to play with while you wait to be seated..., Ohana's is a good choice too, and i believe someone mentioned the 1900 Park faire which is dinner with Cinderella if i remember correctly. have fun

1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian, Ohana at Polynesian or Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness. Any and all are great for families and children!

Can't say enough good things about The Wave at CR. Definitely a nice break from the parks, great food, even the kids like it.

There were a lot of good suggestions of restaurants. I would look @ the menus on allearsnet.com and pick the best restaurants for your family.

I have to add another vote for the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. Love the food, love the atmosphere. It's very kid friendly and easy to get to and from when at the Magic Kingdom.

We really enjoyed O'hana (dinner) on our last visit. No characters but they did have coconut races and other kid entertainment. We also had a good quiet dinner at Tony's in MK, if you don't want to leave the park. They had a t.v. playing Disney movies of course in the waiting area. Last trip we traveled DD was just under 3. We are trying 1900 Park Fare and CRT to visit with the princesses this trip for the first time. Which ever you choose have a magical visit!!
