MK or EPCOT for 2 days?

Coming from a family who visits DL quite a bit. Which park would be better for us to visit for 2 days? Is there enough at MK that is different enough for us to want to spend 2 days there? I think there's plenty at EPCOT, but I don't know. We'd probably skip HISTA and Turtle Talk but we plan on everything else.

If you visit alot then i'd say MK. Take a behind the scenes tour and discover alot more than what you'd normally take in. It will give you a whole new perspective on the park. The same could be said for EPCOT though.

Never having been to Disneyland, I'd have to assume that MK is similar, just on a larger scale. I think you'd be better off spending 2 days at EPCOT - there is plenty there to keep you occupied for up to 2 days. Heck, personally I could spend a whole day in just the World Showcase strolling and taking in everything - and it's all worth it.

I always choose to stay at MK for our extra day. It's my fav park and I could do every ride there over and over again! :goodvibes

Wait a minute...

I think I've got it!

Maybe you could wait to choose after you actually VISIT Epcot and MK, and then decide where you wanted to spend more time.

That way you'd have the opinion of someone with your exact tastes!

;)

(I'd want two days at BOTH!) :thumbsup2

If I understand your post, you spend a lot of time at DL and are looking for an opinion where to spend 2 days at WDW. Given that you have seen lots of MK like experiences and rides, then I would suggest Epcot is where you should spend your time (and maybe AK being the two parks that are "most different" from DL).

Epcot is so big, it is a 2 day park to see it all - I would recommend 1/2 of Future World and 1/2 of World Showcase and then the other "halves" the next day or go to Epcot in the am for a half-day and then to AK in afternoon (gets pretty quiet there) and then the 2nd full day at Epcot

Cheers

This has little to do with your question....but don't miss Turtle talk! Even if you don't have little ones this is an AMAZING show!

You can do the hightlights of MK in a day - although you won't see everything.

To really enjoy the ambiance and details - Epcot is a 2 day park.

But as someone suggested - take a day at each and see which one calls out to you!

We go to DL freqently, too.

MK is like DL, but it is physically larger. It actually has a lot less rides and attractions than DL, even though it is bigger. Some of those missing you'll find at Epcot, MGM, AK. Many of them are DL specific. Off the top of my head, if you skip MK you'll miss the Hall of Presidents (like Mr. Lincoln, but with more than one President) and the original "Swiss Family Robinson" treehouse. I think that about covers it.

When we go to WDW, we spend most of our time at the other parks. We usually spend at least one at MK if we go for more than a week. Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense, since it is so much easier and cheaper for us to plan a trip to DL. Most people on these boards wouldn't think of skipping MK, but they mostly go to WDW much more often than DL.

Epcot is a really fun place, with lots of new and exciting attractions that aren't at DL. You are right about Turtle Talk and HISTA. You should also skip Soarin' here, since it is the same as at CA, but with much longer lines. There is enough to see at Epcot that you might want to spend both days there .

But I would also recommend a half-day at AK if you have time. As another poster said, it doesn't have much overlap with DL. ITTBAB is the only thing I can think of, actually. It's also beautiful, very unique, and many people's favorite. It usually opens early and closes late. Epcot is usually open late and is a fantastic place to spend the evening -- walking around WS and watching Illuminations.

MGM has lots of overlap with DL -- with StarTours, ToT, Muppets 3D, Fantasmic (which is diff, but not as good as the one at DL IMO), and other things. It is a fun park, though, but hard to sqeeze it all in in a day because it is mostly shows with set times.

One other difference -- at WDW making dining reservations is very important. One you figure out which park/hotel you'll be in, it's a good idea to figure out your dining -- you can book 180 days in advance. Good luck planning! If you have any follow-up questions, I'd be happy to help!

I totally agree with this, but if the poster is a DLR "regular", they likely have already seen "Turtle Talk" at DCA.

Why spend both days at the same park? Any kind of tickets, even the base, allows you to visit different parks on different days. Why not do two parks? MUCH more fun!

Personally, I think you should do a day of MK and a day of Epcot. That way you won't regret not going to either park. Epcot has alot of walking, where as MK is mainly walking and rides.

Becuase we will be going for 5 days. 1 day at AK and MGM and one day at either MK or EPCOT and two days at the other. It's just deciding which one to spend an extra day at.

Not sure if you like or thought of water parks - that might be a good option for your extra day

We're getting 5 day base passes and doing 2 at MK, but we have young er kids. I,m interested to see which park of the other 3 they like the most,. What are your thoughts Robo you are my GURU!!

Oh I get it. I vote for Epcot for two days, or else take a vote after you've been to both MK and Epcot! Maybe plan an ADR at a resort instead of a park for supper? Then you could have more flexibility.

Or if you get your pleasure from planning (planning a Disney trip IS the next best thing to a Disney trip), why not double your pleasure by planning two possible itineraries, one for MK and one for Epcot, for the extra day?

Hey Rosey!

DAK, for sure:
Festival of the Lion King is the best show at Disney.
Nemo, the Musical will be open sometime later this year and looks to be GREAT!
Dinoland is fun for little kids (but not the actual Dinosaur RIDE).
Flights of Wonder show is very good (who'd have thought?)
Very good interactive Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade.
And K. Safaris is a really good live-animal attraction.
If any of your kids are under 9, or so, don't take them to ITTBAB without checking it out by yourself first... It can TERRIFY little ones.
------------------------------

MGM:
MuppetVision 3D, a mostly kid-friendly film (can get LOUD)
Beauty and the Beast LIVE On-Stage (don't miss the PRE-SHOW singers)
Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground
Playhouse Disney
Indy Stunt Show
Voyage of the Little Mermaid (if kids frighten easily, sit way in the back)
Good Meet & Greets
Stars & Motor Cars Parade is fun (with Mater & Lightning from "Cars" film)
------------------------------

EPCOT:
Turtle Talk is amazingly fun for all ages and the aquarium tanks in the Seas Pavilion are facinating.
If kids like Dinosaurs that are not as scary as DINOSAUR at DAK, see Ellen's Energy Adventure (45 minutes long, however).
Some kids even like Space Ship Earth.
Soarin' is great (if they can meet the height requirement).
Journey Into Your Imagination is a kid kind of attraction for sure.
Parts of HISTA can get pretty scary for little ones.

WS attractions are just not generally kid-oriented,
but the Kidcot Stations in WS (and FW) are very popular.

How'd I do?

We go every third year to DL instead of Florida, I would recommend Epcot because it has things that are the most different from the other parks.

You will see many duplicates in MK of things in DL MK, and a few of them over at MGM.

The highlights that I would focus on are Phiharmagic, Winnie the Pooh (MUCH better at WDW than DL), and Tower of Terror (another one thats different in FL)

Two questions

1) Do you have park hopper option

and 2) Couldn't you just leave a day "free" on your itinerary and then just visit whichever one you feel like on the day? Or just get on the first bus that turns up!!

Hail to the Guru!! They want to see ITTBAB but I agree it will scare themespecially since they are scared of bugs I have told them so we will see.!! I fully expect them to RUN out of there.. Me I'll love it!!
