With the taping of the Christmas Parade on Dec. 3 will they still do the opening ceremony at 9:00 in front of the train station? Thanks

As far as the Steam Train Crew has been told... YES! If I hear any differently in the weeks to come I will post it for you...

Can anyone attend the taping of the Christmas parade? :scratchin Where can I get more information on the parade?

The Christmas Parade taping is an all day event. They use extras to be in the crowd (that are there for the entire taping). You can stop and watch portions of it if you would like to, but I would not make a day of it...it can get very boring. They do not run the parade straight through as you would vision. What they do is they start very early in the AM and bring one float out at a time. They will bring that float out to Main Street and film it coming down Main Street over and over again. Backing it up bringing it forward, repeat, repeat...until they get the perfect shot. Then that float will leave and about 10 minutes later another float will be brought out. It literally takes all day (sometimes 2 days) to film everything. Last year the 3:00 parade (which is Share a Dream Come True...not the Christmas Parade) was pushed back to 5pm beacuse of the filming delays. It can get very tideous and boring especially if you have kids and Main Street will be PACKED (the rest of the park tends to stay empty, ride lines are usually short that day). Like I mentioned I would plan to stop by and check it out but don't plan the entire day around it.

Seems as though you have an insider.... How does one get onto the crew? Just curious.

I have been an engineer on the railroad for about 4 years (although I am out on maternity leave), hubby has been for 2 :) You would have to be a CM on main street and work your way to engineer. Generally you start out at the turnstiles or parade audience control (although I skipped this step because I had 3 years on the Riverboat prior to transfering to Main Street), then you can get cross trained as a conductor and then on up to the locomotive.

Hubby said he saw a memo about the 3rd but he didn't think to read it... He will look for it again to see if it had anything to do with the opening show :)

Yikes! I feel much better about missing it. Thanks for the description!

Alright, the official word is... NO... they will not be running the Welcome (morning) show, the trolley shows or Cinderellabration (the castle forecourt show) on December 3....
