As a constant Disney planner, I am currently obsessed with planning the first day of our next trip, Saturday, December 11, 2004. We will be just getting off the Magic and should arrive at Disney before noon.

My question for anyone who was at MK this year on that same day, Saturday, December 13, 2003: How was the crowds at MK that day. I saw from the park hours posted that there were two showings of Spectro and the park closed at 10:00 p.m. Does that mean that the park was unusually crowded for that time of year? How long were the lines and when did the fast passes run out?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was there on Saturday December 6th in the evening. We walked on Jungle Cruise. PoC had a longer line, we skipped it. BTMRR was a walk-on. We stood on Main Street for the first Spectro, we just stood back by a store and watched it go by, the crowds on the curb weren't bad. We watched Wishes by Caseys and left after. This day may have been unusual. The Christmas Parade was taped earlier in the day, so perhaps people left after that was over. Also, the evening was cold, in the high 40's so people may have left early. That night Spectro ran at 9 & 11 and Wishes at 10:00. 2 runs of Spectro is usually the norm for Saturday nights in the off season.

We went in the evening and it was packed. When we were waiting to see Wishes, everyone around us was commenting on the crowds. We go to WDW every year during the 4th of July time period (except this coming year) and the crowd on 12/13 was way worse than during that time (other than the actual 4th).

We were there both the day and the evening of the 13th and both were absolutely packed. When we arrived in the park about 6:30 p.m. the standby line for Buzz was 90 minutes as was Space Mountain. The lines all day for almost everything were unbelievable.

Thanks to all for replying.

Why do you think MK was crowded that day? I thought that the three weeks after Thanksgiving were typical uncrowded days.

Do you think it is worth paying approximately $200 (for 4) for getting there around 1:00 p.m. (we will be getting off the Magic). When we first planned this trip, we were not going to go to any park that day, but since it closed 10:00 p.m. this year we are now thinking about it.

Thanks for the input.

We were there from about 9:00 - noon on Saturday the 13th. And I agree with the others - it was packed. And we didn't even see the afternoon or evening crowds.

My opinion would be to skip that day and enjoy another park, shopping, or resort hopping. That kind of crowd wouldn't start my trip off on the right foot. I would have been pretty frustrated if that would have been our first day.

We were there on the 13th too. We went right at opening, and rode a few rides, and left right after lunch. It was clear the crowds were going to be huge. It was much more crowded then it had been all week. We did go back to see Wishes that night, as it was our only chance. We went with the idea that it would be packed and we were only there for Wishes. We were right it was packed. Honestly I think the MK is always crowded on Saturdays, during any time of the year. In slower times it's the only times to see the fireworks and parades sometimes, so everyone goes. I do not think it's worth the $200 to get there in the afternoon. If you can swing going there on a different day, I would do that.

Thank you all so much, again, for your feedback.

We are planning to spend Sunday at Animal Kingdom (we want to do the new Magical Gathering), Monday at MGM, and Tuesday at MK. We were just thinking about adding another MK park day that Saturday; however, if it is going to be overly crowded, I do not think it is worth it since we will not be there at opening.

Any more feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

As July visitors, we were looking forward to "walking on attractions" and minimal crowds during our December trip. Didn't happen. Just wanted to let you know so you aren't shocked at the wait times and crowds. The parks were a lot more crowded than we thought they'd be, but the concierge at the BWI told us that the resort was pretty empty. From this info, we gathered that many, many locals visit WDW during the holidays to see the decorations and for the special events (can't blame them!). The bellman said that very low crowds between Thanksgiving and Christmas seem to be history.
