MK on Mondays?

I have heard from several sources, including Birnbaum's, that Mondays are "notoriously busy" at MK.

If this is true....WHY is this so?

What is so special about Mondays? When I go in September, MK has evening EMH on Sunday. Conventional wisdom says MK should be quieter Monday due to EMH the night before.

I have ADR for Hoop-De-Doo on a Monday evening after a full day at MK. Should I consider altering plans for that day based on Monday being "notoriously busy" at MK?

I did'nt know that fact when I went... but its true....
My guess is that most people fly in on sunday and their first park of the week is the MK.

The theory is based on many groups and families take week long vacations to WDW and their first day there is often Monday. Many people's idea of what WDW is the Magic Kingdom (especially if they have small children), so that is the first thing they flock to at the beginning of the week.

That is the theory behind why attendance is higher on Mondays. I'm sure attendance figures are available somewhere to confirm what the reality is.

You can probably stick with your original plan. If you arrive prior to opening with a good touring plan and use fast passes wisely, you'll still avoid the big lines. If you have the park hopper option, leave yourself open to hop to another park if the crowd seems exceptionally heavy. HDDMR will be trickier to get to from the other parks though - you'll have to take the bus to Fort Wilderness instead of just taking the boat from MK.

The theory, as mentioned, was first park people hit will be the MK, so historically its busiest day was Monday. (Epcot was Tuesday, MGM Wednesday, AK probably Thur)

But, Disney has begun sandwiching EMHes on Sun and Tues (occasional tues) at the MK (and putting Monday EMHes elsewhere), so the crowds apparently have been lighter than normal on Mondays. Our August trip were going to the MK on Monday...I'll have a better answer then.

WE are doing Mk on a Mon. I picked that day based on the EMH for Sun and Tue since we are staying offsite. I will tell you guys how it is we are going in July.

I've been reading the Unofficial Guide to WDW - and their website - I noticed that the Monday we are in Orlando - they've recommended MK as a park because the EMH are on Sunday and Tuesday - but noted that they usually don't recommend MK on MOndays but they were now making exceptions because of the EMHs. Since we're staying off property we're doing MK on a Saturday and a Monday (and maybe a bit on Wednesday). But we're only going to one park during our stay with our daughter.
