I've been to WDW 9 times.....I was under the impression that MK should be avoided every Saturday.

But in looking at the Touring plans, it shows that MK is the best park for every Saturday!

What has changed that I don't understand?

Most touring guides suggest that a park is least crowded on the day after the EMH for that park. Since Friday's are Extra Magic morning hour at MK Saturday should theoretically be less crowded (than Friday). :confused3

Try it and let us know what you think!! :listen:

MK can get really crowded on a Saturday. Especially in the fall, when the park is open longer at night. I can remember seeing nothing but wall to wall people leaving the park. With strollers, it was madness. We will not hit MK on a Saturday night ever again.

or a sunday either for us...i heard it was mostly a lot of local people so i would imagine it might be fairly busy all yr long..it was in Jan when if i recall it was open late so guessing that means they expect more crowds also

if going on a weekend day i'd do fantasyland early as that was literally impassable, while the rest was crowded but you could get through

We were at MK on a Saturday this past May, and were surprised at the short wait times for most all of the rides. Len, from touringplans.com explains that Saturday is typically a travel day for most people either coming to or leaving from WDW.

I've often read and from some past experiences that Monday can often be the worst as the hotels switch over during the weekend and everyone thinks Monday will not be crowded so everyone goes then.....I would guess Saturday would be the worst other day but purely a guess.....

I'll be at MK on 12/10. :cool1:

Check the Trip reports board on or about the 14th or 15th. I'll let you know how each day was (Sat-Tues). ;)

During our past few trips (Oct., Jul./Aug, and May/Jun.) Saturdays at MK were incredibly busy in the afternoons. I wondered about that rating, too. We've also found that Tuesdays in MK seem even worse than Mondays.

I think having am and pm EMH's has changed things too.

We have always avoided MK on Sat.

This trip we are going to MK on Sat 12/17. We are visiting the parks on the best days from touringplans.com. We plan on going early. We will leave for a break at the resort in the middle of the day. May hit another park for awhile then we plan on going back to MK for Wishes and Spectro. I think the MK is always crowded in the afternoon. I don't think it matters when you go! There are always alot of people walking around - sometimes not as many in line though. Wishes and Spectro will also be crowded - they only have it a two times while we will be there. Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised with it not being too crowded - worst thing that can happen is we say "never going to MK on a Sat again!".

Since we are not doing the MVMCP this year we also will be going on 12/17 so we can see wishes and spectro. I wonder if touring plans did account for that.

Just got back from our trip in October. Usually we fly home on Saturday, but this year came home on Sunday. We decided to try MK on that Saturday. Shoulder to shoulder people. Wait time was nothing less than 60 minutes for almost everything. Since this was not our first or last trip we decided to leave. Would never go there again on a Saturday. :guilty:

Well this past weekend on Saturday, 11/5, it seemed very busy to us. We arrived at 9am rode SpM, indy cars, Pooh, & Goofy's BS twice. By the time we returned to SpM again for our FP ride, you could not walk thru Tomorrowland it was so crowded.WE left the park at 12:30 & went to MGM where it was very manageable.
On Sunday we went back to MK at 12:30 & Tomorrowland had about 1/3 of the people in it that were there on Saturday. We stayed there all day until Wishes & never waited more than 15 minutes for anything.

I also read that in Touring Plans and we went to MK on a Saturday a few weeks ago. It was packed in the afternoon. We couldn't ride anything before our dinner ADR because all the lines were too long, and Fastpass returns at 4:00 p.m. were often for after 7:30 p.m.

I wouldn't do it again.

My plan for the 10th is now to be at MK when it opens and maybe stay for lunch then hop to MGM if it's too crowded. Another pricless advantage of the park hopper option!

MK is open until 11pm that day anyway with Wishes at 10pm. Sounds like a good time to slide back in for a ride or two on SM while the fireworks are popping! :cool1:

I agree...our experience has been that MK is more crowded on Saturdays. We try to avoid MK on an EMH day and the weekends if we can.
