MK on a Monday in December ? ? ?

Okay, now that the hours on the Disney Website are posted and I have a good idea of where we will be and when I have one major question.

Why is the MK open so late on Monday 12-20 (10pm)? I know that it is not a MVMCP night and it is not an EMH day. So do these hours reflect an expected high number of vistors? Is Mk really bad on Mondays or should everything be fine?

Would also like to know. We have MK and all our ADR's for the park scheduled for this day. I just kinda assumed that since they were closing early for the MVMCP on Tues the park was open later on Mon....Can you tell I have never been to WDW???

I was also wondering about 12/5 its a Monday too. I figured that day would be better since MVMCP is on Sun, Tues, Thurs & Friday and EMH is on Wed.

Am I off in my thinking? Is it going to be a zoo?

Dec 19th is a Monday, not Dec 20th.
Dec 20th (Tues) is MVMCP.

On Monday last year, we did the MK because it was opened until 8pm and it was PACKED! I think it might be better to do the park when it closes at 6pm for the MVMCP.

I was surprised how most of the week at the MK it was busier than usual. However, all the other parks were fine, very little wait, if any.

LOVELY111 Oh well, I have 9:05am CRT ADRs so we will have to go anyway. If it is too bad maybe we will hop to another park and come back on Thursday. We are planning on Tuesdays MVMCP and a few more hours the Saturday we leave.

we were there on the first monday of December last year, the parks were closing at 8 or 9 that evening i believe and Monday was PACKED and believe it or not quite warm! I would imagine that the closer you get to Christmas the more crowded it is anyway but we were surprised! We went back on Tuesday and it was much much better. have fun!

Bump. Any more thoughts on MK on a Monday in December? This will be our first day in the parks, and we really can't imagine going anywhere else on our first day.

Maybe it is not just because it is a Monday --- my thinking is that most folks that are there that are NOT going to MVMCP would rather go to MK on a night that it is open late and they will see Wishes. Especially if they don't have park hoppers they don't want to do MK until only 6PM and then have to go back to their resort because they can't park hop. I'm not sure though the percentage of people that don't have park hoppers since they changed the tickets this year. I would imagine that most people that dont "do" Disney all the time, don't get them. (Did that make sense?) I could be totally wrong!!

I actually changed my itenary due to this same thought process. We decided to go ahead and go to MK on Tuesday, which is a MVMCP and we ARE NOT doing the party and we do not have PH. We are just going to go over to the Contemporary Hotel and have dinner at Chef Mickey's and maybe hop over to another resort to look at the decorations.

Seeing as how we have been to WDW several times, leaving the parks early won't bother us.

As for WendyMichaelJohn, I would say that MK will be very busy and I would either prepare yourself for this, or look at starting with a different park.

I also based my decision to go to MK on Tuesday due to the fact that most people WOULD pick MK on Monday because it is open later and then on Tuesday they would head off to a different park, leaving MK less busy until later on in the evening when poeple start arriving for the party (3-4 pm).
