MK Obama speech broadcasted?

From what I've read, I'm guessing that zone will be from the foot of Main Street -- not including Town Square -- to the castle and the hub. Guests will go backstage behind Town Square Theater and into Tomorrowland.

So -- best strategy is probably to book it from Tomorrowland all the way to Adventureland and work your way back as everyone else works their way towards you. I'm guessing the backstage area behind Crystal Palace will be part of the zone and where they park The Beast.
Again, speculation on my part, but if you look at the aerials on Google, the parking lot behind the east side of the Main St. looks more ideal in terms of size and offers a quick in/out off of the World Drive main drag. Also the Casey's to Firehouse route is, IIRC, the overflow exit used on NYE at MK.

oh, great. Not only is he making things a pain for those who were planning on being at MK today, but he is also making it easier for those lovely tour groups (that we all love so much) to come to Disney. UGH

What the heck are you talking about?:confused3

The speech. It's about expiditing the process for getting VISAs for international travel. I believe I read he is citing Brazil as an example.

And as for finding it tomorrow...... if he's talking, just TRY to find a cable news channel NOT playing it. It's occasions like this that make me happy to have a DVR.

Just to remind everyone of the posting guidelines:
5. POLITICS/RELIGION
Because of the large number of complaints of personal attacks related to these subjects and inability for many people to keep a civilized conversation when discussing these hot-button topics, politics and religion will no longer be appropriate topics on our forums. Political or religion based posts or threads will be removed, and repeated violations of this rule can result in an infraction.

Discussion of the President's impact on WDW trip planning is allowed on this site. Discussion of his policies, motivations or characteristics (whether positive or negative) are not. Please keep this thread on topic or infractions will be issued. Thanks.

I hate it when Presidents show up. If they want to go out in public, fine. Go. But don't expect others to rearrange their lives...or even stop traffic.

We shouldn't be inconvenienced so that they can get attention.

If they feel that they can't go out and remain safe without tying up other people's time, then they shouldn't go out. It's rude.

I wish Disney would politely decline. But they won't.

:rotfl2: Oh my goodness, now I've heard everything!! Darn those foreigners-they have some nerve booking trips to WDW and it's all Obama's fault!! :rotfl:

Are you for real?

and aren't the MK resorts on some kind of lock down for a bit?

I doubt the resorts will be impacted, but I can say with certainty that traffic will come to a standstill in certain areas. There is a route mapped out from wherever he lands to his destination. This route will be on complete lockdown from the moment he lands until the moment he arrives at his destination. Once he is at his destination, traffic will open up again, but will do the same thing again when it is time for him to leave. It's not fun....:headache:

That would have been my guess too - but the news coverage from the Orlando media outlets say people will be routed to Tomorrowland through the area by Town Square Theater.

They are also broadcasting it on the resort TVs.

Wow-that's cool! I thought they were just going to post info on the info channels. Wish this was happening a month ago when we were there. We couldn't find a thing to watch on our resort TV!

I'm sorry you found that amusing. It was a matter of fact truthful assessment of what he is supposed to be discussing...... without an ounce of opinion or innuendo.

Do you have an issue with foreign travelers? Because I certainly don't, nor did I say anythng to that effect.

:confused3

I sure hope no small children are in the Hall of Presidents while his speech is going on. It may totally ruin the illusion if he is in 2 places at one time. :confused3

They're actually going to broadcast the speech in the Hall of Presidents.

Is he stopping at disney on the way home from a 2 week vacation in Hawaii?????

It's definitely a fine line. Honestly, I've typed and deleted... trying to stay in the guidelines. My problem is with Disney's actions..for a myriad of reasons. Is it permissible to discuss it from this point of view?

Really? It is not a fine line at all. The name of this particular thread is "MK Obama Speech Broadcasted?". It seems pretty easy to understand this thread is meant to answer that question. The other threads on the topic of President Obama's visit are meant to talk about logistics regarding the visit, how to work around the visit, what do I do about my ADRs, etc. Your opinions about the President, his visit to MK, etc. really have nothing to do with these threads and their usefulness to those who are truly impacted by the visit.

Your earlier statement certainly implies that you do not agree with the President's visit or policies. That is a political statement. If you are upset because Disney is making a last minute change that impact large numbers of people, then comment on that. Really - it is not that hard to understand.

Seriously? This statement is pure silliness.

Is there ONE person on here who cares about ANY other poster's political opinion? So stop. Think just a little bit and have some self control.
