MK NYE Week

We are planning to be at MK on 12/30. I have never been that week, but know it is crazy crowded. What is the likelihood that MK will close to capacity that day? If it is likely, does it usually open back up before late afternoon? I know there's no way to predict the future, but I'm trying to make ADR's for that day, and would rather eat at a MK resort, but don't want to risk not being able to get back in for the fireworks, etc... Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Extremely likely to enter some state of phased closure at least. Note that having an ADR (in written form) will get you into any and all phased closures except the last one (Phase 4)--which stops anyone from entering. Full-on Phase 4 closures don't usually last for more than a few hours I think.

We've been going that week for years and will do it again this year!! MK does get very crowded on 12/30 and has been known to close. I would not expect 100% to get back in if you leave. It is NOT as crowded at NYE. It does reach capacity pretty early so if you go on NYE get there early and don't plan on leaving. We usually do MK on 12/30 to see the fireworks although sometimes it's so crowded we just leave. We always do Epcot on NYE, get in early have lunch and dinner ressies (just made them!!) and don't ever leave. Honestly it varies from year to year. You just have to go with the flow. It's a magical time even though it is mad crowded. It's not for everyone. Good Luck and have fun!!

Historically and in recent years, Disney has consistently done a practice-run of the NYE fireworks on 12/30 (conditions permitting). I don't remember the time, sorry.

When I spoke to one of the CM's to book the Tomorrowland NYE Dessert Party, she said that on 12/30 and 12/31 there will be two fireworks displays. The first one will be Wishes at 7:30. Then, at 11:50 there will be Fantasy in the Sky.
