DD and I are taking advantage of our "Give a Day" tickets next week. We have one day to spend in the MK. We have been there before, but will be there from 9:00 am till closing. Help us plan our hot August day!

You may catch a break crowd-wise since a lot of folks have to get their children ready for school (some have already started). If you have children, then you need to head for the Fantasyland rides first. They will be the busiest all day so try to get them done before everybody gets there.

If you don't have children, then we like a clock-wise attack starting in adventureland with Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Splash & Big Thunder followed by Haunted Mansion. Later in the day go to Tom Sawyer Island, ride the Mark Twain and also the railroad.

Last July, we only had one day at Magic Kingdom and I was trying to show a friend who hadn't been there since she was 6 all the major attractions. Basically we went straight to Frontierland, road BTMR, grabbed FP for Splash Mountain, and then hightailed it to Fantasyland. Of course, Space Mountain was still not open at this point, so we didn't have to worry about that, but we rode everything we wanted and didn't wait longer than 10 minutes for anything by being there at rope drop and making good use of FP. August shouldn't be as bad as July either, crowd wise. Have fun!

I would head to FW and grab a fast pass for Space Mountain and then high tail it back across the park to get on Splash and Big Thunder mountains before heading back to use my FP.

As long as the crowds aren't ridiculous I don't think it is hard to do MK in a day. If you are concerned it might be worth it to get a one day plan from Touring Plans but if you have been there before you can probably figure it out without them.

DD is 17, so she is more into thrill rides than Fantasy Land. I just don't want to run around the park willy nilly, so these suggestions have been helpful. I think we will hit Space Mountain first, even though that is my least favorite land.

I had some success 2 years ago on a extra magic hour morning day NOT being there at rope drop. We got there an hour later and Main Street was empty, everyone was in Fantasy land, and we were able to walk on many of the thrill rides.

Changing the subject, I was disappointed to find out that Spectro won't be back for our trip. :sad1: I haven't seen it in 14 years, and was really looking forward to that. Hopefully Main Street electrical will be good.

My husband and I took our 8 year old niece, my mother-in-law, and brother-in-law to MK this past Monday. I was anxious about both the crowds and the temperature, but the day ended up being one of the best we have had in the MK.

We arrived about 20 minutes before Rope Drop. We are usually late arrivers, but we wanted to take advantage of the cooler temperatures. It was a lot of fun and a worthwhile experience. We meandered on Main Street for a while and headed up to Fantasyland for our niece. We also sent a "scout" out for FP to Big Thunder and Buzz Lightyear. We should have done this for Space Mountain as well since this had the longest waits during the day. Midday, Tomorrowland was the most challenging crowd wise, so I think you are smart to do those early. Honestly, I feel like I have seen crowds heavier and the lines longer in the Fall and Spring months. We had a really great day and just played it by ear as far as the direction we took.

Although I never really found the heat a problem since we had periodic showers through the day, we took a couple hours off to head over the Polynesian for leisurely cocktails and sushi. We went back for the evening hours. Finally, we watched the 10 pm fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian (they were as fantastic as you have heard). A relaxing visit all in all. I hope that yours goes well!

Sounds like a lovely day! We are going to have dinner at the Poly the night before and watch the fireworks from the beach. I will be staying in the MK all day on Friday. I have a dinner ADR at Crystal Palace. My mom is coming too, but she is a spry 77 year old.

This reminds me of two years ago when we took my mother with us to the MK, she was 76 then and a veteran of several trips. After a long day at the parks and a late dinner, we went back to the hotel to freshen up before heading back for EMH until 3 am. It never occurred to us that my mother would come back out with us. We thought she would just stay at the hotel to rest up for the next day. Instead, she put on her jacket, tied her tennis shoes, and said that she was with the gang! She was still going strong when we caught the bus back to the hotel at closing. I bet your mother will have a great time!

Yes, and 83 y/o dad will be joining us later in the day. He still walks 4 miles a day. Floridians have a wonderful long lifespan.

try to list out all things you like and you missed out during your last visit and priorities it so that you won't forget the experience.
