MK Fireworks on a Boo Bash night

I see the normal operating hours today for MK are 9am to 11pm. Do the normal MK hours get shorter during the fall time? I guess I'm confused why this is "after hours" if it starts at 9pm, two hours before the current closing time?

Edited to add: I too switched my park passes for MK to non-boo bash nights, because I thought the hours/crowds would be different. But my schedule would work better the other way so if that's not the case I will switch them back

I originally did that, but now I've switched back as the hours aren't different and I'm hoping the crowds might be lighter. I know in the past (and yes, I realize this is different from a party) whenever there was an event, people would attend the non party nights, making the 3 or 4 non party nights more crowded. Now I'm thinking the crowds might be heavier due to the AH people coming in 2 hours early.

I also notice that prior to September 7th, the AH events start at 9:30 but after the 7th they start at 9:00. I suppose that means MK will be closing at 8:30 to no AH ticket holders?

We intentionally would go to MK on a party night because the park was generally less crowded due to the shorter hours. With the party starting at 7, the park didn't really start getting more crowded until about 5:30.
With the new version starting at 9, I don't expect it to have much impact on MK crowds on the days of the AH events.

currently the park hours show the park closing 30 minutes before the AH event starts.

Yes, park hours traditionally step shorter through August going into Fall.

The "peak" Summer season would officially end mid-August, when many school districts (especially Southern and local ones) are back in school. In the past , hours would reduce some in the third week of August and then step down further in the 4th week. Park closings in the 8-9pm range are common by the end of August. In the past, it was always the trade-off for us going the week before Labor Day... smaller crowds, more deals, but shorter hours.
