MK Fireworks Dessert Parties - Confused!

Done seats and treats twice and will do again for the simple reason being able to sit, eat and drink and watch the fireworks avoiding the drama of crowds.
Check in early as poss, always had table at front.
View is more of side view, treats are ok, mostly dessert items.
Not done the other 2, view may be better but I prefer my seat!
Is it worth $$$$ ~ food drink maybe not, seat yes!

The prices have gone cuckoo. Epcot had alcohol included, all the desserts, a large nacho bar, and sundae bar: for $50.

That was a great value we did a few times. The Frozen party came out 2018 with much higher price. FP+ had a great location too, which we usually were able to get with our 4th+ FP before 5pm.

Today I’d consider doing one of the restaurants at Grand Flo or Contemporary to get a ‘comfortable’ view.

From https://www.disneytouristblog.com/best-restaurants-magic-kingdom-fireworks-views/

California Grill or Top of the World Lounge – These two rooftop dining spots at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower (respectively), are our favorite restaurants for watching fireworks at Walt Disney World. In fact, we enjoy both so much that we’ve left Magic Kingdom on busy nights to grab a light-bite at the California Grill Lounge (which is walk-up only on a first-come, first-served basis and is more casual than the main dining rooms at Cali Grill) or Top of the World for a more low-key fireworks viewing.

The downside to both is that the views are pretty far off-center. This is our big criticism of the Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace (which is a pretty similar angle, just closer), but the difference between the two is that with the party, you’re primarily paying for a fireworks view. At California Grill or Top of the World, fireworks is more like icing on the cake. I also appreciate that the vantage here is elevated (both restaurants are on the top floor, some 15 stories up), providing an aerial view of Magic Kingdom that stretches from Tomorrowland to Frontierland.

I was able to do seats and treats in August 2023. I LOVED it. We were seated right against the guard rail about an hour and 15 minutes before fireworks. A cast member came out and helped my then 12 year old find all the nut free desserts. I got to enjoy 3 glasses of champagne ( I made them into POG juice mimosas) and lots of delicious desserts. My kids loved being able to go up and get more of what they liked and they felt very sophisticated having sparkling apple juice to toast with. My 78 year old Mom loved the whole experience. I noted her birthday on the reservation and they brought her a cupcake and sang Happy Birthday to her. At the end the wait staff brought over bottles of water and a COLD diet coke for me ( I have no idea how this woman knew I am addicted to diet coke but she spontaneously brought me one & that is some Disney Magic) The view was INCREDIBLE. I had never seen the projections due to my anxiety and PTSD. I cried, it was so special. I am booking this again as a gift to myself for our upcoming December 2024 trip. I don't think I will ever go again without it.

Also from a VALUE perspective. The sparkling wine would have been at least 12 dollars a glass in any restaurant. I had 3. I figure I had the equivalent of 3 table service desserts at 12-15 dollars each lets say 40 dollars. They gave me 3 water bottles and a diet coke that would be about 13 dollars. My FOOD and beverage total would be almost 90 dollars. I paid 111.00 for my ticket to the dessert party ( I think DVC discount).I feel like 21 bucks for reserved viewing and seating was WORTH IT. Obviously if you don't drink alcohol your mileage may vary.

Most detailed review (strollers are parked at the back of the plaza garden viewing area so you can’t lean against the rail.). Also we were free to leave and ride a ride and come back to the viewing area. Strollers are not allowed in the buffet area unless they have wheelchair/disability tags:

We did the dessert party a few years ago. We've done fireworks while in the castle, etc. I may be the odd one out here, but I think fireworks are always best in a big crowd, building anticipation for it to start, standing on your toes to see, having people squeezed up against you. It just adds to the excitement.

We used to be like that when we had one kid. But with the fights breaking out and stressed out people it’s verging on dangerous. The best view is towards the end of the hub. When we do stand we try to stay near the front of the roped areas for the Christmas fireworks post MVMCP: available for all day guests).

Respect to you and the fact you enjoy the fireworks crowds, but we'll pass. The crowds in the MK dessert party viewing area are plenty full enough for us - don't need to feel like we're in an elevator with 20 other people.

The party sous chef contacted me and they removed vegan cheese and Erin McKenna mini brownies from their allergy free plate

Did they suggest a replacement or just sorry it is no longer offered?

Dave
The email said no longer offered. I asked what will be on the allergy plate instead. Waiting for a reply. Very disappointing as our son did like the vegan cheese and mini brownies vs the cake slices. I just hope it’s not just fruit and gummies.

They specified that spring rolls and gingerbread decorating kit is no longer on the menu (they could easily modify and have Enjoylife cookies). I knew about the spring rolls cut but didn’t know that gingerbread decorating kits were offered at some point.

The sous chef got back for tomorrow’s dessert party and offered to substitute/modify most of the items - crepes, fruit, cake, vegan chocolate strawberries and vegan gingerbread cookies with icing!!! Wow. That’s impressive and I’m glad we didn’t cancel.

I’m seeing vegan cheese sourcing issues everywhere. Topolinos didn’t have vegan muffins for breakfast but did have partake cookies (along with vegan waffle dippers and vegan eggs). Sci fi uses Chao (cashew based; DS is allergic).

Sounds like they have a number of options to meet varied guest requirements.

I have done all 3 of the dessert parties.
The seated one is my favorite. We are usually a party of 2 and get the table right up against the railing and we have a great view of the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying. You cannot see the details of the projections as well as the hub area, however I think it is fine.
My 2nd choice would be the after fireworks dessert party. This one you stand in the hub to view the fireworks and go have desserts in Tomorrow Land Terrace afterwards.
It is nice to have a dedicated spot for the fireworks. I did these over a span of many years, the parties pre pandemic way better than the ones available now.
The last one I did was in 2022 and it was the seated party.

That looks delicious - hopefully it tasted delicious too.
He ate most of the gingerbread cookies (shaped as snowflakes and gingerbread men). We tried a little bit (that he would share) and they were as good as the cookies at the Grand Floridian (the bread shingle there is really bad). Not sure if they were Erin McKenna.

The yellow icing cake was from Be Our Guest. We had indicated that he liked that cake (but not Erin McKenna cake slices - too sweet). He had already eaten one of the yellow icing cakes. He was so excited to get to decorate the cookies. This was way more than we had expected and have ever been offered before (3 dessert parties post covid).

I love MK fireworks and do a dessert party every trip but we only go every 2-4 years or so. It’s also only me and my daughter going the last few trips. My daughter is 5’ and me 5’3” on a good day so trying to get a good view is difficult. Dealing with the crowds and trying to see the show is stressful, overstimulating and can be downright scary IMO. It’s worth the money for us. Now I may feel differently if I was paying for a family of 4. We’ve always had a good view too.

We prefer the after party. We get to the garden area early, relax, sit and chill, watch the show then have some snacks.

Not to sound like a glutton . . .

Seems as though I’ve read conflicting reports about whether or not doggie bags are allowed. I’m not an egg person :crazy2: so usually have something in the room for breakfast. If I thought they permitted doggie bags I might go prepared with a container.

I thought I had read that CMs encouraged people to take stuff because otherwise it gets tossed, but not sure if that referred to dessert parties.

In the past we’ve been told no even for the special order allergy plate. Our son ate as much as he could this time and took one cookie (eating it on the way). It never hurts to ask though. It was kind of dark in the plaza garden area so I don’t think desserts would be a good idea there (crowded).
