See you there, we got the 28th!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I was trying ANY day from the 21st of August thru the 30th. (Couldnt remember what date the buffet ended so I kept telling all the cms thru the 30th!)

SWEETTTTTTTTTTTTT :rotfl2: C U THERE

Hey - all you folks going on August 28th!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I will be there and know several other groups from TGM that will be there that night as well. I will be bringing lime green (DIS colored) nametags for anyone to wear who would like to meet other DIS or TGM'ers! I'll be there with DS16 and we'll both be in our lime green DIS shirts with lime green name tags so come say hi and fill out a nametag for yourself!

Mine will say marciemi (and then Marcie underneath), my son's will say marciemi's DS16 (and then Stephen underneath).

Come be sociable!

I am so excited, someone must have canceled and we were able to get in!!!!!!!! I had been calling every day to try to get this, I love desserts!!!!

You are soooo lucky! I have been calling everyday for 2 weeks but I haven't been lucky enough yet. I will keep trying...you have given me hope:rotfl:!

I will say hi to. I can't wait . I love the sweets to bad they don't like me :lmao::rotfl2:

It's nice to read an honest, unbiased review. We're doing it mostly for the location, and for a chance to meet up with several other DIS and TGM'ers who will all be at the same party. Since we'll be coming directly from dinner at 'Ohana, I think we're going to be pretty full before the party ever starts! ;)

However, my biggest concern is regarding leaving afterwards. It will just be DS16 and I, and if we wanted, we could be poised to take off immediately after the last firework (kind of drift that way at the end). I know we'll get caught in crowds of people on Main Street (but at least we don't have a party of 8 or a stroller or anything), but once we clear the park, Pop has the last bus station, so we can probably pass a lot of people as we (literally) sprint to the bus.

But I'm wondering if the other way would work better. People say that the buffet is open after Wishes still and they don't rush you out. Did you find this to be the case? If so, maybe we'd be a lot happier if we hung out and socialized (since that's why we're going anyways!). Since we won't be that hungry coming in, I may not rush to get there right at the ADR time and spend more time on the rides. Get there and socialize right before Wishes and then after while the park clears. Then go back in a more relaxed fashion. My concern with this is that it sounds like from your review that we'll be incredibly hot and crowded anyway at this point and will just want to get out of there.

Any suggestions anyone?!

I can say we had an extremely different experience. We were there on July 12 and it was awesome. We got checked in very quickly at about 8:40/45p.m. with wristbands then walked around until the CMs came back to let people in. We were seated quickly and had plently of room for our party of 11 (6 adults/5 children)...2 tables one large round table and a standard square table.

The desserts were great, including the chocolate covered strawberries. People were curteous, but we also took our time...got a few desserts, then went back to get a few different ones, instead of trying to get one of everything on a plate.

I did not feel crowded or rushed. Our tables were up by the railing and maybe that helped with us not feeling so cramped. Tink "flew" right over us and we had a spot right on the rail for the kids to see fireworks. We did have to have two of our adults to fend off a spot for the kids as other adults from tables further back came to stand in front of our tables, but no biggie...there were enough of us to take turns and still make it relaxing. The fireworks wer fantastic and it was great viewing!!!

The photopass guy we had was great! Funny, talkative and great with the kids. We had pics done early on and right before we left.

We hung back and left after everyone else did which was nice. We chatted with the CMs and the Photopass guy and just enjoyed oursleves. It was EMH that night so we took our time.

It was also DS4's b-day that day and DD6 b-day trip, plus hubby and my 10th anniversary and our last night at the park...so this was a big splurge and I felt it was well worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :lovestruc

Have a magical time!!!:wizard:

Sounds like you had a great time. I can't wait. Great review.

I have been calling 3x a day for over a week now and just secured a res for our trip in August!!

That is great. I am still looking for the 25th. I have to keep trying.:scared:

I have the same problem as you, we are all booked for the 21st, and my husband was able to get leave from Iraq and will now be joining us at Disney World, we are sooooo excited he is going with us, but I can't add him to anything now. I am such an over planner, that it kills me to think we may not get to enjoy some of our ADRs now. I am most worried about prepay things, or things that charge a cancellation fee. I plan to go to the podium with him and hope they can fit us in, but if they can't I guess we will be paying lots of cancellation fees or loosing prepaid money for things we booked with a credit card.

totally OT... THANK YOU to your husband for serving our country and to your family for supporting him!!! :worship:

i am glad he is going to be able to join you in WDW... i'm sure the cm's will do their darndest to accommodate your family :)

Have you called and spoken to someone at Disney? Maybe a supervisor? There may not be anything a regular cast member can do within the system, but I'd like to think someone with more authority could pull a few strings. Given the circumstances (your husband just recently finding out he could get leave from Iraq), they should be able to help you. Maybe not for every single event, but for the majority at least. If not, you can stick with the podium approach, but I'd see what all could be done in advance.

We'll be in WDW October 10-18 for our anniversary. Hope that they extend the dessert party to October. This will be the only way for me to participate in a dessert party because I'll never have enough people to have a grand gathering for an Illuminations Dessert Party.

Read in the All Ears review that the chefs stated that the food will change in the winter months. Hopefully that means they'll extend it past August.

I was able to add on my daughter after an exhausting 2 weeks of calling.:woohoo:

This is what happened.

I called earlier today and I kept wondering why they kept saying 2 adults and 1 child. Something told me to call again and the CM said the same thing. NO WAY. I have 2 child and 2 adults. Well they said it looks like someone tried to readjust your reservation and they tried to credit $18.00 to you. For what? :scared1:

I am trying to add one and not take away anything and besides no money was credited back to my account. Someone better fix it because I didn't cancel anything! I guess I must have been raising my voice because the poor CM said its not my fault. I had to apologize profusely to her and explain how hard it is to get this reservation.:flower3:

She asked me if I changed it myself on line and I said you can't even make this reservation on line so its someone on your end who made this error.

Well to get to the point, she put me on with a reservation Specialist:worship: who not only put the 2nd child on but added the 3rd adult. Made my night.

Thanks for letting me vent. :goodvibes

Need your feedback, we are going in a month, what are my chances at this point? I am calling, but honestly sometimes the CMs are so slow or clueless for the dessert party (seriously, how is that possible?! :sad2: ) that I am on the phone for a half hour for them to check availability. My phone bill is going to be through the roof!

What do you think I should do at this point, I hate to give up, keep calling, walk up to podium? Since it sounds like everyone has had such a great time, and I LOVE desserts :cloud9: and so do my girls, this would be a blast for us!

TIA!

The reason it takes so long to look is they have to change times to coordinate with the fireworks times. Some nights its wishes at 9, some nights they are not until 10 pm. It usually took 20-30 each time I called to see if there was any availability. And several times it pulled the tomorrowland terrace buffet on the nights that was also happening.

On the contrary, I've been calling now for almost 2 weeks and I've never waited more than 5 to 10 minutes from start of call to the end. I give the CM my res#, dates to search and size of party. I usually call at around 10am and again during the evening to avoid getting caught up with people trying to make their 90 or 90+10 resses. It's worked to a point- I've had to split my party over the course of 2 different nights rather than all the same night. Oh well. Good luck to all!
