MK fastpasses...before lunch or after?

I'm booking MK fastpasses tomorrow for my trip 5/27-6/4 and I'm second guessing myself. My plan for our first day is to do Frontierland and Adventureland then take a hotel break after lunch. Around 12:30 or 1:00ish most likely. We have never breaked in the middle of the day before, but with the heat and fireworks at 10:00 I think we should. Then return that afternoon and head to Tomorrowland.

Should I use my fastpasses in the morning for BTMR, Pirates, and JC or save them for when we return later that day? What do you do?

Because you'll be heading to Frontierland & Adventureland first while everyone else heads to Fantasyland, you shouldn't have long waits for those 3 rides.

Having 3 guaranteed FP rides for later in the day will be the best strategy for that day.

That's what I thought. Originally I was going to do morning fps. Now, I think I will fp space mountain, Buzz, and one more for when we return. On our last trip I never had any luck getting anything we wanted with the 4th fp. Thanks :)

I would also save them for later if you plan to be there when the park opens. If not, then I would FP BTMR or Splash (if that is a ride you are interested in) around 11 and then do the other 2 FP for later in the day.

Yes, we will be there at rope drop. That's my plan now. Head to Splash first, then do all the other rides and FP BTMR for when we want to leave. We split up into two groups for BTMR because we have one toddler that can't ride so we have to FP that one. Then maybe take the train back to the gate and save the other two FPs for Buzz and Space Mountain. Thanks :)

With the new FP+ system I have typically been booking all of our FP's in our afternoon / evening park and doing rope drop for our morning park (esp. if we do morning EMH's). (And I stopped booking them at Epcot AT ALL, EVER because of the tiering.)

If you have a toddler, use Rider Swap and split the adults' FPs for BTMRR and Space. Then you get an additional FP that way.

That's a good idea. I may try that. In the past I never used rider swap because I would feel bad about my boys going through the line if they couldn't ride. They are both tall enough now and the toddler that is going with us probably won't care.

That's what I'm going to do this time. Our last trip it was nice to have Dumbo, Barnstormer or rides like that for additional fastpasses. But it seems that there was never availability for the mountains or anything out of Fantasyland while we were there(Nov '14). We do not park hop, and Soarin' and Frozen will still be closed for our Epcot day, so that made things easy for FP.

Now you only have to show the toddler at the entrance to the FP line.

Split up your party for FPs and any 3 people ride on the Swap.

Split BTMRR/Space; all ride Buzz and all ride another choice.

I'd suggest heading to BTMRR and Splash first thing, FPing Pitates mid-morning, and then saving two FPs for Space Mountain and Buzz in the afternoon.

If those are the rides you were thinking of using them for in the morning and are getting there at Rope Drop, I'd save them. If anything, I'd say make one FP for pre-lunch for one of the bigger line rides. Save at least one FP for Space for after lunch.

My experience with now being able to get the 4th FP from your phone is that it is FAR easier than the kiosks mostly because the inventory is constantly changing so you can check ever 5-10 minutes and you'll see a lot of rides open up at one time or another.

Thanks for all the help! I stayed up last night until FP opened and got the BTMR FP for lunch, and Buzz and Space/Cinderella & Rapunzel for that afternoon when we return. I'm glad I wasn't expecting 7DMT to be available because the whole day was booked. I'll try again for our other two days.
I'm getting excited.... 29 days until we leave :teeth:
