We will be celebrating my daughter’s 21st AND her college graduation at MK on May 14. I wanted to surprise her with Seats and Sweets but it’s sold out. Both the pre and post parties have availability. Which one do you prefer?

It really does not matter since both the pre-fireworks and post-fireworks groups share the same area for the Fireworks show. The post party often has lower crowds. I would consider what your group is planning to do at MK that evening and when you might be hungry and/or thirsty enough to enjoy the party.

I like the post-party. You can relax in the area before the fireworks without too many people around you. Followed by a quick getaway from the crowds exiting the park. You can enjoy the party at a relaxed pace and use the post-party to wait out the crowds.

I personally would choose the post.
I've gone to dessert parties where I have eaten too much and then not felt all that great to actually stand an watch the fireworks.
Unfortunately both time I did the EPCOT dessert party it was held inside and then we had to walk and stand for the fireworks.
Plus I'd think it would be more relaxing post.

Post so you can nibble and drink away while the masses trample towards the exit and flood the transportation system.

I would say depends on park closing, I would do pre if the park closed way after, I want to maximize time, and the pre fireworks lines would be way longer than the post.....if the park closed AT the fireworks time, I vote post :)

I've done them all and I prefer the post party. As PP mentioned, you can get to the garden earlier to get a prime spot and then, when the fireworks are over and the exiting crowds become unbearable, you can mosey over to the terrace, relax and enjoy the offerings until the crowds thin out and you can enjoy the beauty of MK at night.

Post, especially during August. The night 2 grandkids and myself did the pre-party, the weather was horrible. The fireworks were delayed and we hung around soaked to the bone until they finally canceled them. They should have been canceled from the start.
Will never do pre-party again. I did go to guest services before leaving but they didn't offer any compensation. I assume because we did eat the mediocre dessert offerings, no compensation was to be expected.

I have done both and prefer post.

Post pros.
1. First to get to the hub to choose your spot
2. Not rushed eating your desserts "to get a better seat" like the pre party
3. Can bring food/eat dinner while you wait for the fireworks to begin on the HUB seating.
4. After fireworks there are massive crowds, you can make your way over to the desserts and enjoy a much lower stress environment(everyone has seen the fireworks at this point so there is no "rush" to finish and get a good seat)

Funny. I actually agree with all your points here!! Every one! But we still prefer the "pre" for the single reason that when we did post the one year, it was just way too late to be getting all sugared up on desserts. Just didn't feel great after. So now we do the pre, still get a good spot to watch, wait a few minutes after the show, let the post-party people leave their direction, let the people heading for the exits go their way, and then just take a leisurely walk back down a slightly thinned Main Street, do some shopping, and then head back. Just a different approach to enjoy the fireworks and projections from a decent location......

No worries, post does take up more time after fireworks and does make for a later night.

Glad there are multiple parties for people to choose what works best for them!

I have done both multiple times! I prefer pre-party because I'm at the point where after fireworks I'm tired and I want to be in bed :rotfl2: I always think I'm going to stay late and do rides with low wait times but yeah that ship has sailed for me. When I've done the post-party, I always end up sleeping poorly with all the sugar/drinks before bed.

You do not need to get to the garden that early to get a good spot, only if you want front row which really isn't necessary. I roll in maybe 15-20 minutes prior and can usually still lean against one of the fences in the middle of the garden. For some reason everyone crowds in the front 1/3 of the garden so you can just fall to the back and have a clear view. That leaves like 45+ minutes to enjoy the treats and drinks which is plenty of time to go through the buffet multiple times. I have never felt rushed and usually end up bored while waiting for the fireworks anyways.

Either option you deal with waiting for the crowds to disperse before you can exit the garden, so no avoiding that.

I’ve done both and I definitely prefer post. I really dislike pre since they started offering post. I always feel rushed trying to eat and then you’re stuck fighting the crowds to get out. Post lets you sit all that out while you eat, and the couple of minutes going like salmon upstream from the garden to Tomorrowland Terrace is absolutely no comparison to the throngs trying to get out down Main Street.

We especially like to take advantage of it during EEH nights because we can relax after the show letting the crowds disperse. We plan on doing that next month.

Either one is monumentally better than Seats & Sweets though, which costs more for an objectively worse view of the show (which is the real reason to do these parties anyway, because it’s sure not for the grocery store desserts).
