Hello,

I was just reading how MK closed early today. I was just wondering how that works. If there's a steady stream of people coming in, do they just cut the line off at some point? I would imagine there would be a lot of unhappy people.

Just curious.

Happy New Year!

Interesting Question! I think they would cut off transportation into the MK area...No buses, boats, ferrys or monorails means nobody gets in...unless you walked from the CR. Not sure though.

They would have a real hard time with guests if they just cut the line.:)

Happy New Year!!!

The parks close in phases. I don't know what they are, but someone here can does.

There are four phases of closing for each park. Note that when people exit through the turnstiles, it will lower the "in park" count at the Park's Operations Office.

Phase 1 - The toll booths are closed to everything except Disney buses and CMs on duty.

Phase 2 - All ticket sales stops. Unless you already have a ticket in hand you are not allowed in.

Phase 3 - Only Resort Guests and Annual Passholders are allowed in. If you are staying at a Disney Resort and do not have your tickets encoded on the room key you may be asked for ID. (If the tickets are encoded on your room key, or you have an AP the biometrics must match.)

Phase 4 - The parks are closed to everyone.

Note that if you show up at a park and you would normally not be allowed in due to a phased closing, and you have dining reservations in that park, it does NOT make any difference, they still will not let you in.

I wonder if you had a non-hopper and you left a park for a mid-day break only to find that when you went back it was closed, would they let you go to another park?

Nope unless you bought the hopper option. It would be too hard to override the system.

Nope. Its the chance you'd take leaving the park on such a busy day. Most everyplace I've seen advice says that if you are going to a park on a peak attendance day, plan to get there EARLY and DON'T leave until you know for sure you are done for the day, because there is no guarantee you'll get back in.
