Hi,

I've seen video of Epcot's fireworks display on the 4th of july. While I love it, and think it's amazing, my wife wants to do Magic Kingdom because we both like the atmosphere. . I know they do a perimeter launch, however, do they have like a big finale after Wishes ends, Anyone have any information? Is their show pretty good?

We were in WDW on our honeymoon last year over the 4th. I will admit I felt the same way as your wife, I HAD to see the fireworks in the MK on the 4th.

It was stinkin' hot, which isn't a big surprise for Florida in July. It was wall to wall people all day. We actually managed to do a few e-ticket rides using fastpass and some minor ones, but we didn't get a whole lot done. We had long waits for everything including the bathrooms and the fastpass machines (never had those before). We spent most of the day in the shops.

Crowds got unbearable about an hour before the fireworks. You couldn't even move through the hub/main street. We got a place on the pathway towards Tomorrowland. I tried to go get some water for us, it took about 20 minutes to fight through the crowds, and wait in line for water!

Fireworks started about 5 minutes late. They do Fantasy in the Sky for July 4th, not Wishes. The fireworks lasted about 10 minutes maybe 12 minutes. No tink, nothing too spectacle. I didn't even see many going off around the park. I was not impressed at all. I was so disappointed after all the waiting and crowds we endured.

When we came back, I inquired about the lackluster performance here on the boards. There had been some bad weather that passed over the area, so that might have affected some of the show (though I never thought it affected anything other than Tink during the rest of the year) and apparently there were some fights and crowd control issues. So, the fireworks may have been abbreviated. In any case, I was disappointed and thought Wishes was MUCH better and didn't require all the hassle. I wish we would have gone to Epcot instead (and probably will if we are there again during that time frame).

Anyone know if this previous post is typical for a 4th of July in MK? I just really dont want to spend the 4th in Epcot. We're not drinkers either and I have a feeling the party atmosphere at Epcot may be high as well.

I really would like to see the 4th in MK but not if the fireworks suck. Anyone else?

I dug up the thread I posted on this topic when we got back from our trip last year. As you can see, others had various opinions of the fireworks. I have seen Fantasy in the Sky and Wishes numerous times, so while the fireworks last year were ok, they didn't WOW me like I expected 4th of July fireworks in Disney to do. Hope this helps....

I agree with the people who posted about last years mk fireworks on the other thread. It had to be where you watched them from if you didn't think they were spectacular. The modification of fantasy in the sky with the perimeter shots was great! If you were in the park, maybe you couldn't see all of them with the different patterns along the shores of the lagoon. I happened to be on one of the ferryboats docked at ttc, and everyone I saw applauded like crazy. The poly is the place to be.

I was more disappointed about the length of the show. The fireworks were pretty good from my vantage point (though we probably didn't see a lot of the perimeter shots) but the show was so short. For all that hassle, to get a 10 minute fireworks show (same length as the normal nightly shows in WDW) was a huge letdown. I was expecting at least 20 minutes (and it appeared that the other parks had that). HUGE letdown. It will be interesting to see if this years display is similar, or if last year was a fluke year.

This is what I dont understand. I live in a coastal town and every 4th of July they do a massive show off of the pier. It lasts 30 minutes.

I think of the Magic Kingdom as the premier park at Disney. Not so much that it's the best but just as sort of the "centerpiece" and would think they would simply have the biggest show on the "block". I'm surprised first of all that they did Fantasy in the Sky last year and not Wishes. Wishes is a bigger show to begin with.

I think there may be one reason though. If you see the site that the Magic Kingdom fireworks are launched from.................

You notice that the area is very small. I think one reason for lack of fireworks at the MK is that they really dont have room to launch set them up for a massive show, whereas Epcot has an open area in World Showcase Lagoon.

I really think this is the reason but other than that it just doesnt make sense to me. I'm sure however there would be things they could do to make room for a couple of big shows per year.

Anyways, I guess we'll be hitting epcot this year for the show since my parents are going for the first time ever. I was just hoping that the MK would have a massive show like Epcot.

if your debating try to do both. watch MK fireworks at 9 from TTC and then quick hope the monorial over to EPCOT. MK fireworks tend to last about 15mins on the 4th so that gives u time to hit up EOCOT for 10. u wont have a fantastic view but it's exciting to say you saw. i did MK and MGM both one 4th and it was crazy being involved in that rush.

Normally I would but my dad is in a wheelchair and wont want the hassle..

I do know a spot at world showcase however where you can see the MK fireworks. I think I'll take up a spot there and just watch from there.

We will be there that weekend but would like to leave about 5pm on the 4th. Do they do the special fireworks the entire weekend or just for the 4th?

Thank you!
