Hi everyone! We will be in WDW over Memorial Day weekend mainly to go to SWW. We just so happen to be there when the 24-hour event takes place in MK. I thought it would be kind of fun to be there that day, but we wouldn't even attempt 24 hours and we would probably just do half a day, about 9 am until after lunch. I'm now wondering if we should even go. Will they have special events taking place throughout the day? Is MK so different that day that we should really plan to go? We go to WDW quite often, so if we miss rides in MK on this trip, it's not a big deal. We are staying at BWI and with so much going on at SWW, my other thought is to do 2 days at DHS.

For those of you who just spent a few hours at MK during a 24-hour event, I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

We have attended this event for the last 2 years. The park is not that much different from any other day. Most of the difference will happen in the night/early morning hours. They have a DJ in a few different areas with dancing and such. Last year they had a special character meeting with Malificent since they were promoting the new movie. They have some themed cupcakes for the event and special event t-shirts and other souviners. We always go to MK in the morning and then park hop to the other parks then return to MK in the evening and finish out the night. After the other parks close MK is packed! The lines to rides get very long. Adults are allowed to dress in costume for this event if that interests you.

It's a lot of fun to go, especially if you're able to go overnight. I've stated this in other threads too, but if you decide to go, try to avoid Main Street/the Hub after Wishes. It's been a rough place to be the last two years, since so many people are trying to leave/come in to the park and there's been times where it takes over an hour just to get from the front of the castle to the exit.

Shave you seen a good amount of people dress up? We have 2 little ones and are trying to decide if we should dress up and how elaborate people dress. It will probably be hot, so we won't be in full costumes....

Yes, a good amount of costumes. Most were not elaborate, just like u stated it is pretty hot. And quite a few people wearing the event t-shirts also.

Thanks for your replies everyone! I'm still on the fence about going. We would really only go from about 9 am - 2 pm tops, so it sounds like we would miss all the special events. I really just want to go so I can say I was there! But if it won't be much different than any other day, my Star Wars and pool loving DH and DS will thank me for not dragging them there that day just to get the t-shirt! Thanks again for the feedback!

GO to SWW. If you aren't going to be there overnight there is no point. BUT Friday on SWW will be much less crowded than Saturday or Sunday of that weekend since it's a holiday. For you that is the better choice.

We did it last year. Went to MK 6:00am (actually arrived about 5:30am), there until around 11:00am. Went back to WL and rested. Went to DHS for awhile, did the SW dinner. Went back to WL and rested awhile and then back to MK 1:00am-6:00am. The overnight part was fun, there was a DJ in front of the castle. Got pictures with Maleficent in the castle. Did standby for the 7DMT soft opening, actually the second time because we rode it at park opening. At around 5:45am they had the characters at the Train Station so that they could get everyone out. We were on the boat back to WL at sunrise. Then crashed....
