Had a great day at MK yesterday.
Day 1 of our 7 day trip, and we started early.
Staying @ POR, 2nd floor, Bayou Room. Kids were up @ 5AM by virtue of early bedtime the night before, so we allowed them to practice their parkour jumping, running, tumbling in the room so as to get some energy out of their systems. With 3 of them doing so in the room at the same time it did indeed sound like a herd of elephants but it was a positive start to the day.
Heading to MK and not wanting to deal with the madness that is the TTC, we opted to just park at Poly as the guard didn’t ask to many questions after we told him that we were there for an early breakfast. Easy way to pocket $30 and not give Disney everything.
On to the parks, it was early but our family started the “We are so happy to be here” chant about 30 minutes before the pre-opening show. There were about 25 family members there total for our mini-reunion, so after the 40th verse, I’m sure that everyone around us knew the words where they could sing along.
Found a nice loophole where we were able to make reservations for Crystal Palace PPO and then not show up! What did it do? It got us into the park early and we were able to skip eating altogether but still line up early for some of the choice rides!
Navigating the parks, we found it easiest to walk as a group so as to not lose anyone behind. I know that some people had a problem with us walking 6 or 8 across, but to be honest, it’s the most practical thing to do. Those who didn’t like it gave a glare of course, or simply stepped to the side.
Caught some attitude with people who didn’t appreciate one of us waited in line and the rest of the group spent the down time doing much more fun things, like riding other less busy rides or eating. Only 2 people tried to stop us from coming back on line for 7DMT, but I knew that the cast members wouldn’t really do much so we really stepped around them and played dumb. We won! We paid for our tickets and should be able to come and go as we wish. Even used the trick of pretending that we didn’t understand English a few times.
Highlight of the day was riding POC and using the strobe feature on my IPHONE to illuminate all of the hidden pieces you never see on the ride, and I came this close to getting the keys out of the dog’s mouth at the end of the ride.
My son took some awesome shots of the fireworks with my IPAD as I sat him on my shoulders. The perspective from a few feet above is like no other.
Cannot really imagine why people stand around so long waiting for a parade to start. We moved one of the masking tape lines a little further out into the street while the CM’s were not looking, and the old people in the scooters behind us looked half asleep anyway so I doubt they cared or noticed.
Off to Epcot a little later today and hoping to have another fun-filled time!
