MJs death racial??

Someone, I forget who now as I have watched far to much MJ coverage the past few days, said that the Black community felt MJ was like OJ....Black men trying to be white but when they got into trouble that they both returned to their black roots until their need for it subsided.

MJ definitely had issues with his race or I don't think he would have had white children deliberately.

MsA

I heard this same comment last night.. It may have been when they were interviewing his former Rabbi friend, but I can't say for sure..

Yes, it sounds racial but coming from those two it doesn't surprise me.

Anyone catch 48hrs last night with Katie Couric? Spike Lee was on talking about Michael Jackson and at one point said Michael's back with "us", or He's "ours" again, something to that effect and that "We"(the black community) were the only ones who stood by him during his "bad" times. Then they showed Jamie Foxx from the BET awards show shouting Michael was a Black man several times.

Both instances just seemed very racially charged to me and not appropriate. Any comments?

I didn't see the Katie Couric segment with Spike Lee. However, I did watch the BET awards and heard Jamie Foxx statement many of times....I think the comment was inappropriate..Michael touched many cultures all over the world.

I think some people choose to see almost everything as racial.....which is odd, since biologically there is no such thing as race. It's all a sociological construct and there are more biological differences among one "race" than between different "races." Maybe, if people didn't choose to make it such a big deal, racism would cease to exist.

I agree that some people are like that;however, when comments are made like those I mentioned, I feel they are offensive and purposely meant to be controversial. I wish racism didn't exist as well, but unfortunately, it does, and not because an individual questions another person's statements.

To clarify, I meant if people like Spike Lee didn't choose to make it an issue, possibly racism would cease to exist.

Interesting that Spike Lee should speak up now. I haven't seen or heard anything from him in years. Perhaps he's more interested in MJ's race now there are camera there to talk to. He needs to focus more on making some decent movies (like "Do the Right Thing") than getting his comments in the press.

Wow... how sad is that? MJ spoke out MANY TIMES against racial separation. I dont care what color Spike Lee is (I do know, just dont care) but it seems like he is not respecting MJ or his wishes, and I dare guess MJ wouldnt pick any "SIDE" that did this, and acted like they were speaking for him (MJ) after his death.

Anyone with half an ounce of true caring for MJ should be trying to make sure those kids have a happy future now instead of trying to stir up trouble. I think thats what he would ask for from the other side if he could ask for anything at all.

It should be about those poor babies now.
They could come live with me in a heartbeat.

Yea, I saw it. I then turned to another station quickly. ;)

Michael Jackson's heritage was African-American. One's heritage doesn't change, regardless of how one tries to change one's appearance.

I find it quite racist myself, but nothing will be done about it. There's a double standard as far a racism. If a white person had died and someone said something as far as the white community, it would automatically be considered racist.

I personally find situations like this, regardless of race, extremely racist. Racism towards anyone, black, white, or any other race just shouldn't be tolerated.

The comments about black people being the only ones who supported him (or whatever it was they said) is ridiculous.

BUT.. the comment that he's back with them now doesn't even make any sense! Spike Lee isn't dead :confused3 Or maybe he's trying to tell us that Michael isn't either ;)

Spike lee is just opening his mouth and getting free air time. he hasnt done anything in years. He is just using michael jacksons death as a way to get back in the limelight. its just sad.

CNN, Nancy Grace, MSNBC... who will create that rumor first? LuvCuteBoys, you may as well get some credit for seeing him at the 7-11 first! ;)

I like to believe that somewhere there is an island where Princess Di, JFK Jr, Heath Ledger and now Michael Jackson are living out their lives in peace.

But I also believe in fairies. :rotfl:
