Does anyone know if guests are mixing their own cocktails again? The description states “stir up popular cocktails with this bartending workshop” but I don’t remember if it has said that throughout COVID.

On the Fantasy (July 21) and the Wish (August 1) they were NOT letting people mix their drinks. Both classes were totally different and both were really good though!

Thank you! May save that one for next time and book the chocolate one instead.

Even pre-pandemic, when I did the mixology class on the smaller ships, we didn't mix our own drinks. So, I wouldn't hold my breath for that to return.

That said, the chocolate tasting is awesome!

Better choice in my opinion. I booked the beer tasting this time. I’m a beer and wine drinker. I like martinis, but I have tell them to tone down the sweet. I booked the mixology thinking it would be fun and something social, but it was neither. It was basically watching someone make drinks and then me pretending like I liked them.

Mixology did not have guests mixing cocktails on my last cruise (August 2022). While I thought it was a pandemic casualty, another guest told me Disney stopped having guests mix the drinks pre-pandemic, around 2019.

With that said, I still really enjoyed Mixology, and it's the one drink seminar I try to take on every cruise.

We just got off the Wonder (10/2/22 Mexican Riviera). This was the first time we’d done mixology and were quite disappointed. Five half pours of drinks pre-made for you. Didn’t like most of them! The instructor Carissa assumed we all knew everything about the drinks and ingredients and didn’t teach us anything. Four people got to try layering a shot. No reference materials, no education, wouldn’t be able to duplicate any of those drinks at home. Definitely not what we expected and won’t do it again.

I've had great bartenders during Mixology that explained the drinks, ingredients and some history. My problem is that it was an OK deal at $25. The current price is ridiculous for 5 - 1/2 pours of cocktails. It makes more sense to just buy the cocktails you like from the bar and chat up the bartender.
