Our Cruise group is trying to get a Mixology class together some have asked what drinks do you mix i don't care myself i will try anything but if anyone has done this could you please share what you made Thank you !

I've done the Mixology twice with our cruise meet group and both times the drinks have been similar. I think they try to provide a variety of drink types (mixed, layered etc.) since they teach you while you're drinking!

Both times we did a fruity mixed drink, a champagne drink (raspberry mimosa like drink), mojito, a B-52 and a martini-type drink.

We did the three listed and something that was a Cadillac martini, plus Sex (Disney calls it Fun) on the Beach. We love it and plan on doing it again for our September cruise. I highly recommend!

Can I just say that our cruise did the private mixology and the pours were heavy and everyone got to make an extra full size drink (and drink the left over, no shows' drinks too!) We were TRASHED at the end. Best $20 spent the entire trip!

Wow, interesting. In the two private ones I've done none of us got to make drinks (the bartender did them and they were set out when we arrived). I've stopped doing private mixologies because of it--much more fun to be behind the bar making the drinks. It might have to do with size. The two private ones I did were really big groups versus the Disney ones which are cut off at 25 i think so everyone gets to make a drink. Yours sounds much more fun

Similar experience. The only thing that saved me from being overly drunk was the fact that I did not like all of the drinks. But I was definitely buzzed.

Ours had 20 to 25 scheduled and a couple of no shows. The bartender did the set up and started some of the drinks but there was class participation on most of them. Not everyone got to make them. Probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the group ended up making a drink. I was content to watch.

To the OP: I was told that they try to make different drinks to mix it up. We did make a captain's mai tai, something with champagne, a mojito or something similar to it, an appletini, a shot, and maybe something else. I can't remember them all. I think there were 5-6 drinks. And they made drinks for all that were scheduled to show up, so if there were extras, someone drank them.

I may be in the minority, but I want to share my opinion...

We did not do a private class, but I was quite unhappy with my experience. The drinks were made and passed out during the first few minutes of the presentation. The only one that was okay was the mojito. I think there was a Tom Collins too that wasn't too dreadful. The other three were terrible. Definitely no appletini, shot, or mai tai.

We were on the Wonder and I could not understand the man who was doing the presentation. He spoke very very fast and had a very thick accent. One person asked if we would be mixing any of the drinks and the guy said it wasn't allowed? We had less than 20 people in our session.

The space where we had the event (Cadallic Lounge) was boiling hot and the drinks were sweaty from the git-go. We were between two other couples who were also greatly disappointed with the event. We ran into one of those couples later in our cruise and they had complained to Guest Services and ended up getting a refund and a note of apology in their stateroom. We just figured it was $40 wasted and moved on.

I would not do it again. Next time, I might try the wine or champagne tasting, I've heard good things about both of them.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but just wanting to share our feelings. I'm glad to hear others had better experiences, maybe it was just a rough day for our folks.

We did the Mixology on the Fantasy. To sign up, go to Guest Services immediately upon boarding to sign up. Our sessions was in Skyline. We had twenty-five participants, broken down into five groups. We numbered off 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, then the bartender had the 1's get behind the bar. The first group each made five of the first drink for everyone as the bartender described the ingredients. The bartender would also compare the drinks that were made by the different people indicating any 'issues' (such as too much mixer, too much of the spirit, etc.) After a few moments of enjoying that first drink, then the number 2's got behind the bar, and they made a different drink. By the end of the hour/hour and a half, each participant had consumed five drinks made by their fellow 'bartenders'. Besides the drinks, it was a great social time. We asked our bartender if we could do it again, and after he verified with the higher ups, we were able to schedule another session. This second session was in The Tube.

We have heard that different mixology classes are run very differently (so we lucked out with our bartender). A few described the experience Shea&Van described. I don't think it would be fun at all to have all the drinks pre made, and you are just drinking them. When signing up for the class, I don't think Guest Services have any knowledge as to who will be running it, so I don't think there is anyway to try to get a 'good' bartender. But if not satisfied, I would recommend talking to Guest Services, not to get a refund, but to indicate the preferred method for the mixology classes.

It sounds like you got a dud of a bartender. It most definitely is allowed for the participants to be making the drinks. The class I attended on the Dream had one, or possibly two, drinks prepared by the bartender and then class participants prepared the remaining drinks. It was fun and interactive and I'm signed up for a private class with our cruise meet group next week.

We did it in april we had: mai tai, B-52, Mojito, margherita (strawberry I think?) and another one that I can't remember. The class was awesome!

Our cruise was sold out, we could not all mix drinks at the same time but I got to mix two... and drink 1 small of each. We did not get a whole drink each.

This was pretty much my experience on the two private ones I did.

I've done 2 classes, both on the Dream...

#1 was a private Mixology held in Pink. It was run by @thegales class where 5 people made 5 drinks each - so I made one drink. We had a Cosmopolitan, Sunken Treasure, Mojito, B-52 shot, and a non-alcoholic cocktail for the non-drinkers in the group. No full-sized drinks.

#2 was one my husband and I signed up for that was in Skyline. When we arrived there was 1 drink pre-made, a Captain's Mai Tai. We came up in shifts to make a mango mojito, and then were served a classic margarita and a chocolate martini. At the end we came up in shifts to make a B-52 shot. After that, 5 people from the group were picked and each of those 5 got one of the drinks we'd just had, but a full-sized version (neither my husband nor I won that lottery, sadly). So only good experience from me so far!

There are different types of alcohol tastings now being offered on board.
There are two ways to book these classes;
1. If you are in a group (Group Cruise meet) you can email DCL 30 days prior to sailing and reserve for your group.
A minimum of 25 guests to a maximum of 35 guests/adults per class/session (Depending on which class/tasting), and the appropriate fee per person and each participant will be charged automatically to their onboard account whether they show-up or not.
You will need to provide each guests full name and stateroom number or reservation number at least 2 weeks prior to sail date. You can also request for the time and dates you prefer.

That is a real bummer! My awesome experience was on the Wonder in May 2015 and it was a private one, so perhaps that makes a difference. I did go to the chocolate pairing one and was less than impressed (public) and ended up cancelling my champagne tasting because of it...I have learned that the cast members make all the difference in the world on how an experience goes on these cruises because they are not very consistent. One does one thing and another does something completely different. Its something, I feel, DCL needs to work on.

We had a great Mixology class! There was about 15 people and it was in Skyline. The bartender asked for a volunteer to make a full size drink while he went over the details and why you should do certain things for each drink. Then when it was done the volunteer got the full size drink and everyone else got a mini version that was premade for 3 drinks a Martini, then Bahama Mama and Margarita. Since it was in the Skyline lounge and their specialty is the Martini the bartender gave us a lot of information about the traditional Martini. The mini Martini, Bahama Mama and Margarita glasses were so cute! We all made a full size a Mohito and a B52. The bartender was funny and informative. By the end we were very happy that the first three were mini versions. Definitely would do it again!

We did a regular class in Skyline with Lindsey on the Fantasy a couple weeks ago and had an experience like thegales. Lindsay demonstrated one drink and then 5 people made drinks for the rest of the class. Everyone made their own last drink- a Guinness shot.

We really enjoyed it, but doubt we would have if all of the drinks had been made like a couple other posters mentioned. That doesn't sound near as fun.
