Mixed Nuts Part 2

If anyone is interested in listening to some holiday songs online, here is a good website that another DISer just posted in the TFW thread. It's a really good site because you can choose your type of music. Right now I'm listening to "old fashioned christmas" which has artists like Burl Ives, Carpenters, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra.

HEy! Thanks for the cool site :thumbsup2

No, it never gets old, I love it...and Yes, I am feeling quite festive this year..must have been the extra alcohol I've been drinking.

Hi PixiePerv

:rotfl:

Christmas is my favourite time of year!

Sounds good. Call me from the hotel when you're ready. Also, you said you wanted Olive Garden, which is fine by me. I'm just gonna throw another place out to see what you think. Have you ever been to a Spaghetti Warehouse? It is very close to the Carousel Center and has good Italian food, not very expensive. We had my brother's rehearsal dinner there. Just a thought ...

That's sound great also!

I'm not that hard to please! Whatever you decide is fine by me as long as it doesn't cost too much :teeth:

No eggnog nor beer for me. But I do a fine job polishing off a couple bottles of wine ...

Eggnog, beer, wine...as long as it says "proof" on the label, I'm good.

I do not have a good Christmas track record. A little background, I grew up with my mother and grandparents. My real father was pretty much absent; we stopped talking when I was 14, so my grandfather was my "dad." He died on Christmas Eve 1998. And we spent Christmas Eve last year in the ER with my grandmother, which was the beginning of the end for her. So yeah, this year...bring on the booze.

I love eggnog but I don't put rum in it. Yuck.

Wine = Gud :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Speaking of Gud...MDF has been away unusually long too.

Oh Liz.

Try to remember the special ones and hold those in your heart. :goodvibes

Ah, well, now you guys have me in a Christmas mood. Everybody join in...

"The restroom door said gentlemen, so I just walked inside
I took two steps and realized I'd been taken for a ride
I heard high voices, turned and found the place was occupied
By two nuns, three old ladies, and a nurse
What could be worse
Than two nuns, three old ladies, and a nurse..."

Liz ... and anyone else who have had relatives pass close to Christmas.

I had to go to a funeral for my DH's uncle who passed away a week before Christmas. They had this poem in the funeral home and it made me cry, yet it was so beautiful ...

Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away that tear,
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away, we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones, you know I hold you dear,
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my heaven above,
I send you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, "Love" is the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessings of love He has for you.
So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear,
Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

Thanks DM.

I found a similar poem last year and printed up with a picture of my mom and sent it to all my brothers & sisters with their Christmas cards -
(It was our first Christmas without her):

That was a wonderful thing to do for your brothers and sisters (how many do you have?). I'm sure there were tears yet comfort too.

I'm thinking that my new sis-in-law is going to have a hard time this Christmas with her dad passing away last month. Maybe I will try to do the same thing for her.

I think that would be a nice thing for you to do. I'm sure she'd appreciate the thought. :goodvibes

Aw, geez...here come the waterworks...

I'll be in the ladies'.

Aww...I'm sorry Liz, I didn't mean to do that.

Keith - ever hear the song "The USS Make-****-Up" by Voltaire? There's a little homage to Seven of Nine in it...I can't post the lyrics here; you'll have to look them up yourself or download the song, but it's amusing.

On my way

Oh dear! We need to pick this thread up a bit and get out of the funk ... ANYBODY?

"THONG!
What a delightful gift idea!
THONG!
Magical shorts that disappear!
Buy your loved one this Noel
The kind of gift you can't re-sell
Because it kind of smells if someone else has tried it on..."
