Uh oh...I better watch myself then :scared:

Okay..that was my last post till later.

Have a great afternoon y'all.

I look forward to taking the survey DM :thumbsup2

But Blue is a German Canadian ... so watch yo back!

:rotfl2:

The question said SONG, not SONGS! Not fair hogging all the good songs ...

I guess you forgot the song, "Santa Baby" ;)

Well...uh...I'm also 1/4 German. No lie. I have a joke about what I call myself when I'm in a bad mood, but it might be points-worthy (it's not dirty, but could be considered racist, I think).

I can't choose between those 4 songs! They're ALL my favourite!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
DS opens one gift. DH & I wait.

Wish I may, wish I might, respond to this one, but ... must stop self!

These better not be points worthy but I've heard things like:

Heinz 57 or, my personal favorite, mutts.

I am a "mutt": ½ Russian and the rest a mixture of English & German.

What is that?

Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake)
bienenstich.gif

Source: The Art of German Cooking by Elizabeth Wason

Bienenstich cake mixture:
1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 Tablespoons (1 stick) of butter (use real butter) 2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 tablespoons milk

Almond topping mixture:
1/2 cup slivered blanched almonds
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) butter
1 tablespoon milk or cream

Filling mixture:
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 egg yolks, lightly beaten
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
a pinch of salt

Doubtlessly made better by the fact I don't have to make it!

Yes, comment is best left to PJ or Liz

well, the phone calls are fast & furious, check in a bit later!

Heinz 57 or, my personal favorite, mutts.

I am a "mutt": ½ Russian and the rest a mixture of English & German.

Grandpa also used to say that. Apparently I really am close to the Heinz 57...mostly English, Scottish, German, and Hungarian; possibly some Dutch and Austrian (of course, couldn't that also be considered German?) thrown in.

When it comes to the Scottish part, I do have to wonder...my great-great grandfather was from the same small village in Scotland that Ewan McGregor is from. Someone here at work said that he and I have the same strange greenish-greyish-bluish eyes. I wonder...he could be something like my 7th cousin 4 times removed...

Thanks for the recipe but I'm no baker! :lmao: And I don't like nuts. Oops! Is that the wrong thing to say here on the Mixed Nuts thread? The comment I was going to make, and am still not going to make now, was based on your reply of you and DH being good at delayed satisfaction.

Oh, believe me, I think it's improbable myself, but seeing as how that town was smaller 130 years ago...who knows?

Plus, I just like to tell people that ;)

I think I love you

HEY!

He's all mine!!! I found him first :snooty:

You better be careful......nothing worse than a jealous Canadian woman

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Blue's not here now so you can be as nice as you want. You can go back to your "witty" self later ...

Ladies, Ladies…I go to lunch and come back to find you fighting over me….Stop your making my Ego swell.

SSSMMMAAACCCKKK

Oh Sorry must have been in dreamland again, thanks for snapping me out of it.

I guess moving back home was too good to be true. It's only been one month and already she's doing the "your feelings are stupid" business.

We're supposed to go to her friend's daughter's house for Thanksgiving. She talked to the daughter today, who told her that there will be 11-13 adults and 5-7 children. I know only my mother and her friend. I have social anxiety, mild agoraphobia, and I do NOT handle a group of unknown people very well. I usually end up having a panic attack.

Her response? A very disgusted "Oh, Elizabeth, will you knock it off already?" I just wish you all could hear the tone she used. I felt like saying, "Yeah? Screw you and your feelings, too!"

This is how she's treated me all my life. Any time I have misgivings or anxiety about something, I get told either to "knock it off" or "get over it." I really thought things had changed between us, but I think I was wrong. She'd better get a job soon, so I can save my money and get the heck out of here.

Liz ~ living with parents is very tough, no matter what you age. I live next door to mine. I'm glad I can walk away but they are still always there and my mom always feels a need to tell me when I do something wrong. Yet, my brother she would never even think to say something to. Sometimes I really tell her to shut up. I love her, she's one of my best friends, so I can tell her to shut it.

Liz, I'm sorry your mom is so insensitive of your feelings.
