That's why I like my "old" Pentax Optio -- it has rubberized corners that serve as slight shock absorbers and it is also water resistant which makes it a fairly tough little camera. Though, shockingly, it can't handle a then 4-year old forcing the memory card into its slot backwards. These cameras came out in 2004 though which was a lifetime ago as far as electronic devices go.

Et tu, Jean? :sad2:

There, there Rob
I am an equal opportunity jerk! :goodvibes

Liz, here are a couple of reasonably priced camera options you might consider.
They stand up to rough handling, although I am the first to admit they most likely do not suppply all the features you may require.
The package below comes with an impact resistant camera case:

As you can see it features USB connectivity:

Withstands impact nicely:

Okay, you guys, you made me laugh.

Of course, I'll feel better when Rob and Keith get back to me and say it's okay, that I didn't completely let them down... :rolleyes1

Guess I just won't buy another Sony CyberShot.

Well, the memorial service is over. I hate blubbering in front of complete strangers. I hate blubbering, period.

My mother doesn't like that I call the dog "Fuzzbutt." Now I've come up with "Elmer Fuzzbutt" and she's even more unimpressed.

And I just heard the Stray Cats on the oldies station.

Hey! I think DS6 will be getting that for Christmas. Liz -- I can let you know how it is.

Au contraire Liz. Quite the opposite direction, completely up. ;)

Hello, Nuts. :wave2: Did everyone have a nice weekend? Anyone do anything amazingly interesting or fun??? I attended my first rodeo this weekend and went on my first horseback ride, imagine that!!!!! Happy Veteran's Day.
Night, Nuts.
:grouphug:

Saturday morning, I set my alarm and woke up at 9:50 knowing that tickets to a comedy "concert" by Craig Ferguson would be going on sale at 10:00. For those that may not know him, he is the host of the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on the CBS television network. So, I got on to Ticketmaster.com and signed in and waited and waited for 10:00 to arrive. I entered the quantity of tickets I wanted (2 -- me and DS14 unless I can talk PJ into going with me  ) and it said something about processing and wait time less than 1 minute. I opened a second window and started a search in there -- it said wait time less than 4 minutes. The first window came back with some sort of error message and I had to reinput what I wanted into that window and it started up again -- less than 2 minutes this time. The second window came back with two seats and I purchased them.

All tickets for the show were the same -- $35 -- regardless of where they were so the two tickets I got in that second window I opened were IN THE VERY FRONT ROW. The theater has 3 rows they set up in front of the Orchestra seating area (maybe where the Orchestra really would sit if there was one?) that they label AAA, BBB, and CCC and then the regular seats start. Well, I got row AAA! Score!

FWIW: The first window, on my second attempt there, then came back and it offered me row A which, in reality, is the fourth row behind the triple letter section.

I did ask DW how come I can never get very front row seats to someone I would really, really want to be that close to -- someone like Shakira, Shania Twain, Paula Abdul of the 1980s, or Carrie Underwood (who, by the way, looked right at me and smiled when she was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last season -- just sayin') just for some examples.

I got a call at 11:15 this morning and was offered $200 worth of tickets and parking for no cost and got to take DS6 to his first NFL game!!! Unfortunately, the kickoff was at Noon. I think we only missed the first 4 minutes of the game though so that wasn't too bad.

We didn't get a photo of it but -- from the parking lot -- we did see the Stealth Bomber fly right over us right before the end of the national anthem. If you have never experienced that, it is way cool. Not only do they hit the stadium right at the end of the anthem which is amazing enough, the plane is also amazing. One of the largest most powerful planes in the world and you do not hear it at all until it is literally right over you.

Unfortunately, this was the last time the Chiefs led...

This was the final score -- no touchdowns today for the good guys... :sad1:

The halftime show was touching and interesting...

On the one hand, nothing says Salute to Veterans like girls in red, white, and blue short dresses...

On the other hand, it was pretty neat...

The whole time during the halftime event, they showed pictures of soldiers from Missouri and Kansas who have died in the Iraq War...

So what did you think? I have mixed feelings over rodeos. I generally find them quite fun and used to go to them twice a year (usually in July and November) almost every year but some of the events -- the bucking events -- aren't as much fun for me as they used to be (though I still recognize and admire the skill involved in staying on a bucking animal). I have absolutely no problems with the barrel racing and various roping events.

Then obviously they weren't pictures of me, seeing as how I couldn't take any!

I'm completely worn out today. The worry from this, plus that memorial service yesterday. And today would have been Gram's 80th birthday.

Good morning Nuts!!!

Hope you're all well :wizard:

I've been really busy but I have most of this week off. Today I'm doing nothing but DIS :woohoo:

"As such a sad love
Deep in your eyes, a kind of pale jewel
Open and closed within your eyes
I'll place the sky within your eyes
There's such a fooled heart
Beating so fast in search of new dreams
A love that will last within your heart
I'll place the moon within your heart
As the pain sweeps through
Makes no sense for you
Every thrill has gone
Wasn't too much fun at all
But I'll be there for you-oo-oo
As the world falls down
Falling
(As the world) Falling down
Falling in love..."

Kinda makes you wonder if this event planner were left in charge, just what the statue type monuments would look like:cool2:

Now yr DS, there's a cutie! :cloud9:

It's great that they did this. Important to put faces, places and bios to the real cost of war.

Good morning Nuts!!!

YES!!! Go Blue!

Liz:

Thanks for the hugs, Jean. Wish you were here more often

Hugs cost nothing and the rewards to both giver & receiver, are so great!
Thanks Liz!

Oh, and don't worry about 'blubbering' in front of strangers, personally, I think detachment is greatly overrated. Well, at least practiced at stupid times.

Passion and feeling is a fine offering to a departed loved one. More to be held iin a very special esteem.

Is the office freezing?
Maybe you should give a handbook on menopause for your coworkers?

Gothic Rose. I'm so sorry for your loss and your continued grief.

Just remember, though, we're part British - "stiff upper lip" and all...

Plus both Mum and I look awful when we cry. The other people crying looked completely normal. Mum and I, though, our eyes swell up, our noses turn bright red (insert Rudolph joke here), the rest of our faces get really, really pale...just not a pretty sight.

No, we're not freezing today, surprisingly. What kills me is that it's a girl younger than me - not even in her 30s yet - who wants it so cold!

Gothic Rose. I'm so sorry for your loss and your continued grief.

Thank you  We've actually been doing okay, but having a memorial service like that was hard. And today, seeing that it's Gram's birthday...

How ya been?
