Mixed Nuts Part 2

It's just that, by your own admittance, you don't usually say hi, you just start talking and the hi is implied. You really freaked me out with that scary post! :rotfl2:

And, Liz, it goes without saying that the festivities begin when you arrive. ;)

-- Rob

You're right, I usually don't say hi. Next time I'll just make a blank post.

Well, I got a shock a few minutes ago. I knew my boss got married a few weeks ago. I didn't know that it was to the chick up in Accounting that busts my chops every week or two. Just got an email from her; her last name is changed, and it's my boss's name. Wow, they sure kept that quiet...I had no clue.

I'm voting for the 'non entity' thing, too.
Under the radar can be a very good thing!

Hi Liz!
Hi Rob!
Hi Blue!
Hi Poppers!
Hi GoDaddy!

Off & out--we are scoping out an auction today, but having got wind of who's going to be there & what they'll be bidding on--well, I think we're there for the snacks only
And, one of our big donors is interested in the same piece of furniture we had our eyes on, so no way we can bid against him :upsidedow

Later today, it's college #4.
One of my nieces graduated from Rivier & we've been to functions there over the years, so we have a head start here.
I fell in love with Colby College

DS has no opinion, they're all 'okay'

"Let the festivities begin! Chicken enema people line up to my left, Steak & Shakers to the right, all those wishing to combine activities, over there by the plastic sheeting!"

I don't mind being under the radar...except for the other day, when there was an update to our order entry system and NOBODY let me know! My coworkers got an email, but there I was, obliviously entering orders on the previous version because I didn't know it had been updated...:confused3

Just stopping by to say Hello to you all!!

Trying to catch up on housework.

Have a good day

So, um, well, like, uh...hi, I guess.

I just have nothing to talk about today...

Hola!

I guess this means that there is chicken on the Steak 'n' Shake menu.

Have you heard GoofyDad? Because E loves when I write this... There are no stoplights between my home and my closest Steak 'n' Shake. Just 3 stop signs and I'm there. Morning E! :rotfl2:

Good Morning PP!

Whaaaaaat? You said the word "hi", Liz? I recommend medical attention immediately, maybe some good BabyNurse'n.

-- Rob

That's just not fair. Let's see... The only thing place of dining fineness we're within nary a stoplight from is a jerky outlet store. Right next door to a taxidermist. I don't ask too many questions about that relationship.

Isn't that against Da Rulez in most corporate climates nowadays? I'm small business now (you can quote me on that), but anyplace big I've worked at has been a "no workplace romance" type of place. In any case, if they made it official I guess they're good now.

I'm voting for the 'non entity' thing, too.

I guess I'm at the plastic sheeting. You gonna eat that last drumstick and those last few skinny fries?

Just stopping by to say Hello to you all!!

Trying to catch up on housework.

Have a good day

Hiya, blue! We're two work days (and change) out from vacation. Short of a major catastrophe, I'm having a good day.:hippie:

Chicken. Always. I wonder if there is chicken on the buffet at CM's? :rolleyes1
 I think we would be experiencing an immediate guest recovery situation if you ever came to CM's because I would lose patience with you very rapidly, mister LBob.

PJ is free everyone! Get your requests in now.
:rolleyes1

I love Steak 'n' Shake. I grew up in Indiana so there was always one nearby. And then when I moved (first to West Virginia, then to Tennessee) I was Steak 'n' Shake-less.:sad1: It WAS a tragedy.:grouphug:
Please, allow me to clarify the Steak 'n Shake situation. Or Steak 'n Wait as we call it at school. So there aren't Steak 'n Waits everywhere? Are they a Northern thing? I was shocked when I was informed that there are no Steak 'n Waits down here and no Frisch's. Well, at least I think there aren't since every time I mention them people look confused.

So, um, well, like, uh...hi, I guess.

I just have nothing to talk about today...
:wave2: Hi is good. Unusual for you, but good.

DS has no opinion, they're all 'okay'
Take him to see Xavier in Cincinnati. Then he will have an opinion. He will want to go there for sure.

Added bonus: when you come visit him when he goes to Xavier you can see PJ at the same time and bring her many wonderful gifts.

HEADED TO THE RIGHT!!!!

GoDaddy and Rob stay right there on your plastic sheeting!! :scared:

Hi, Bluester. Bye, Bluester. Have fun with the housework? :confused3

We actually have quite a few married couples working here...one couple, I know they met here, their story was in our company newspaper a year or two ago. I don't think there is anything in the employee handbook about it, though. It's a small company. I guess as long as you're discreet (and my boss certainly was), they look the other way.

We also have sisters who work in the same department...parents and their children, too...

I love my neighborhood and its location. It is 2 miles to one interstate and 3 miles to another but I don't see or hear either one; along with S 'n' S, I can get to about seven other restaurants with no stoplight -- none of them fine dining but not fast food either -- AND also to the best Target in the world where I ALWAYS see at least two hotT ladies ever time I go there (in stark contrast to the Wal-Mart across the highway :scared: ); but I still see mostly green when I look out my back door and should for a while because right next to us is an elementary school and its school yard and just past that is an about 80 acre family farm (who already sold off 220 acres for my subdivision and our school to be built on it).

As long as the taxidermist isn't stuffing dogs or cats, you should be ok with your jerky.

At my place of employment, a multibillion dollar corporation, married couples are encouraged. I'd say over 10% of the workforce is married to another employee at the company. They even "advertise" that fact from time to time in the daily corporate rag.

Would that be you or I doing the projectile vomiting then?

I dunno P&J. Yes, it pains me very much to admit that there is something I don't know.

AND, AND, AND Rob too since I am starting the second tier of my graduate studies there in the Fall just so I can be close to PJ. :cloud9:

Ok, sheesh, since no one is around anywhere tonight to entertain me, I figured I would research and answer this for you. And, no, I am NOT whipped so stop laughing.

I don't know who you are asking, P&J, but there are more Steak 'n Shake's in Florida than in any other state.

Steak 'n Shake restaurants are located in roughly the eastern half of the United States except for the northeast (except for Pennsylvania where they are located). The western most states that have S 'n S are Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. There are 82 S n' S's in Florida, including 1 in Kissimmee, 7 in Orlando, 3 in Lakeland, and 6 in Tampa. By contrast, Ohio has 65 and Missouri has 59.

OK, must have been something strange at the places I worked then.

I love my "neighborhood" too. We're in a subdivision of about 50 houses, but we're 8 miles out of town on a twisty mountain road. Our house is one of the highest in the subdivision, about 100 feet higher than the houses down the hill from us. We're on a little saddle ridge that's between two much higher ridgelines about 2-3 miles away - the ridgeline to the east of us is technically in North Carolina (our house is about 3 miles from the state line). Today was overcast and rainy, but the clouds were slipping and folding over the ridgeline very beautifully. Today was the kind of day that defines the name "Smoky Mountains". We're not close to town (Maryville) - 10-12 minutes if there's not a blue hair, logging truck or tourist on the road in front of you, 10 minutes in the opposite direction to the kids' schools and the nearest Walmart (which is new, so it's nice, but I still like Target better). Near that Walmart is a Hardees and some Mom & Pop-type places to eat. The area is still being developed as the Walmart is less than 4 months old. Knoxville is 45 minutes away, Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg is also about 45 minutes away, and Chattanooga is about an hour and 15 minutes away.

Ok, sheesh, since no one is around anywhere tonight to entertain me, I figured I would research and answer this for you. And, no, I am NOT whipped so stop laughing.

Steak 'n' Shake had a major expansion push into the southeast in the mid '90s. I'd be willing to bet most, if not all, of those Florida SnS's were built within 5 years of each other.

I've personally designed one Steak 'n' Shake. It's in Brunswick GA (on the I-95 corridor - halfway b/t Savannah & Jacksonville, gateway to Jeckyll Island), attached to the Pilot truck stop, along with a Subway (my first job out of school was in Pilot's construction/design dept.). It was built in '95 or early '96. That store was a "golden parachute" deal for one of the company's ex-Vice Presidents - let him own & operate it in his retirement years. The company bought it back from him after 2 or 3 years when it had consistently high sales figures. That V.P. had a really bad rep, so when I got tasked with that project I thought "Oh crap, there goes THIS job down the toilet". But I worked with him one-on-one for most of the design process and he always was very nice and polite to me, and I was really wet behind the ears at the time. It wasn't my first project management on my own, but one of the first.

The company we work for is the same way, they pride themsleves for it. They encourage families to work togther (I guess it's the only was we would all see each other). It was noted at our annual meeting that my family had three generations and fours of us working together at Super Bowl.

I love Steak and Shake!
We have one down here in little ole Fort Myers too! It was a favorite stop of mine when we used to drive up and down the east coast a lot. Sure beats Waffle House!

Oh, BTW, I'm back from Utah in case anyone was wondering.
I re-named it the "Melt Me" state.

well, good night folks, seems you have all left for the night. Sorry I missed ya!
