sorul82?-OMG- T-daddy said the same thing- not about number of kids but about finding out the gender. Me- I wanted to know on day one. He- wanted to be surprised. He said "the only way I will agree to find out is if we have twins"..... poof! super freaky because his sister has twins so who would have thought lightening would strike twice....

where is this farm? what cultivars are they growing this year? I need to know because TwinkieDaddy gets peanut royalties.... so do I need to start pricing 2007 MYW packages???????

ETA- oh wait.. last year was peanuts.... when do peanuts come back into the rotation?

what is growing this year?

Um, actually, twins run in families. If his sister had them, he should have expected them. :teeth:

I'm not sure what is in the fields this year. I will have to check. Did you have a feeling you were having twins before the official word? I had weird dreams about twins. At my first uh oh appointment, the nurse asked if twins run in that family....I said, No, but there's a first time for everything. The nurse gave me a funny look, as I was wondering how in the heck that came out of my mouth. The Dr was disappointed that hubby did not come with...i guess he wanted to give us the suspected news. Dr. said, you are due X date, but we want to do an ultrasound to be sure.....they just don't hand out ultrasounds without a reason. I still was not concerned because we heard the same with DS9. I had spotting, so ultrasound was done.....at about 8 weeks. Dr said I think I see two, but I'm not sure. I wasn't alarmed and thinking back...i didn't have the same feeling as I did with H & N. Anyhow, 2nd ultra, 12 weeks, no 2nd baby...disappearing twin syndrome? About a week later, I ended up in the ER....not to get too gross, but you probably get the picture.

As a lurker until now I want to wish you a very Happy Anniversary! You have heard all this before but your abilty to write is second to none. Not being an avid reader other than for a need (e.g. Going to Disney - Read DIS posts, Football season approaching - Read Football Magazine etc...), this has been an enlightening experience for me. Although I took the steps to get a good education I truly believe the last 'book' I read was the Scarlet Letter back in 1986, your novel is more entertaining.

Just an fyi that 9th anniversary traditional gifts are pottery/ceramics... Maybe a ceramic Hostess Twinky is in order...

Have a great time at WDW...

Farm Folks what is this language you speak? Why would you boil peanuts? I'm assuming one would rotate one's crops because different crops give and take different nutrients in the soil??? (I learnt that on Martha Stewart and I have a salsa garden :p - pretty much makes me an expert)

We just had our 10th Anniversary too. What a coinky-dink! We all have between 3-4 kids! Cosmic "accident" we found one-another? Me thinks not. We all love Disney World an are all going within a 19 and-a-half days or less? Eeeery!

S'latey, sorry for your loss! My very first baby (a boy) was still-born and only 6 months along. So sad! He'd be 18 right now. We like to think of him as our big brother guardian angel. My boys NEED a good guardian angel, one with lots of bubble wrap.

Twinkie, I know you're packing today and "what not" or that's what you SHOULD be doing. So, I just want you to know, your peeps will gladly take over and keep things...going normally :dance3: and you can totally trust us, really. Fear not, Thread Mother. (Mwa-Hahaha!!!)

Utah Mama, TM has such a good memory because Mr. Collector kept all receipts and made a list of all expenses when we returned home. That's right, I am the man, go ahead and say it. And I will let all of you TM fans in on a little secret, the next TR will be even better because I painstakingly recreated each day, ride by ride, from memory the night before our last day. So expect even more detail. Oh, and by the way, today is our ninth wedding anniversary, so give TM lots of love, that is what I will surely be trying to do!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
Hope you have a great day! :cool1:  :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :woohoo: :dance3:

We found Pizzeria Uno, a restaurant that was new to us. I don’t remember the details but I know we ordered two personal pizzas and a kid’s meal. We ate. It was good.

Uno's rocks. It's the best Chicago style pizza outside of Chicago. If you're in Chicago, Geno's East is better. Their old restaurant was a classic hole-in-the-wall -- you could write on the walls, and one piece of pizza was enough for a meal.

Happy Anniversary to the Twinkies!!!!

Just wanted to unlurk and wish you all a happy anniversary and to say thanks for the great report- I've really been enjoying them!

Thanks to you and UTahMama I revisited my old pics with big 80's hair(mine had it's own page in my high school yearbook) and I even dragged pics of DH in muscle pants to embarass him in front of our two DDs (6 & 8) since he constantly makes fun of how they dress up in Disney costumes. They're still laughing.

Thanks for a great read!

leight-what a great use of a trip report- a chance to educate the next generation about big hair and muscle pants...

ncseric-thanks for the review- the meal was awesome and one slice was very filling and this will come in to play later...

btmfdr- thank you for the very high compliment... I have been called "literary crack" but this was the first time an actual work of literature has come into play... I love your description of your reading habits. DH used to be that way.. in fact once we got one of those book club things in the mail where they have you peel and stick a sticker on the reply form and one said
Yes! Please send me a kazillion dollars of fine books for only $2.99.
and the other one said
Nope. Don't read much. Hurts my brain.
We used to joke that the Nope sticker should be DH's motto....

sorul82? and UM: :grouphug: Sometimes words won't do. Only :grouphug:

I won't attempt to describe boiled peanuts because no doubt I'll say something wrong and TwinkieDaddy will have to correct me. They are an acquired taste...

everyone who sent happy anniversary wishes- thank you!!!! :sunny:

You know I get this all the time and IRL I don't say anything because most people are not looking for information, just making conversation.... it usually follows the question "were you surprised to find out you were having twins?" which doesn't bother me since it is a fairly classy way to ask "did you have any help from fertility drugs or science fiction type procedures?"
dee47- I am not picking on you at all.... :thumbsup2 I totally agree with your tag... if I remember correctly you are a technical writer, right? well,
I am a biology teacher and I am in the mood to teach thanks to sorul82?'s new trippie which begins with mitosis, I'll explain :teacher:

Identical twins result from one zygote (one egg + one sperm). The zygote can split into two people at several different stages but the end result is 2 people who have the exact same DNA (except for any mutations occuring after the split). Scientists don't know exactly what leads to this kind of twinning.... and cannot predict when it will occur.

Fraternal twins result from the mom releasing two (or more) eggs. Thus each child results from a unique zygote (one egg and one sperm per kid) and are no more genetically related to one another than any other full sibs. Some ladies tend to double ovulate frequently or all the time. This kind of twinning does "run in families" since you can inherit the tendency to double ovulate. This is also why people talk about twins "skipping a generation" since a man could be carrying the genes for the tendency to double ovulate but not expressing them (since men don't ovulate) but could pass on those genes to his daughter who could grow up to have twins.

So if my husband's sister had twins they are either identical (freak of nature that does not run in families) or fraternal (resulting from double ovulation).... either way my SIL's ovulation patterns have nothing to do with mine.... we are not genetically related at all ..... now if my paternal grandmother, mother, or sister had fraternal twins then I should have reason to expect them myself.... however none of those people did and thus I was surprised when they told me I was having twins....

and in answer to sorul82?'s question about did it feel different... it was my first pregnancy so I had nothing to compare it to....

ETA: both my SIL and I have fraternal twin girls....wierd huh? we usually just tell people that in our family boys come in ones and girls come in twos.....

Hi - back to the multiples issue!! LOL

Glad you explained the concept TM. Sister with quads - 3 eggs, 4 boys - yep means one egg split into identicals! Last twins was our great-grandmother so ours skipped 2 generations! Thank God it wasn't me - He knew exactly who could take it and who couldn't!

Leaving for WDW in 15 days - just DH and me  ! He can't wait, I can't wait - and also :rolleyes1 we don't have to worry about Disney souvies!! :rotfl2:

Also, just wanted to say, I love your trippe, UM's trippe and Sorulate's trippe - you all are at the top of my list and have inspired me to want to write a trippe when I get back. I'm sure it will be nowhere good as the "best", but I'll give it a whirl (only way I can whirl without motion sickness :rolleyes1 ).

Now just keep the rest of this trippie coming until you leave, PLEASE! :hyper:

Oh, 2nd by the by, I've even got my DH to reading when I told about TD, Goofy4UM and Sirius!! The interaction gives this place so much personality! Happy Anniversary - a little late - TM and TD!!

Twinkie is a biology nerd!! Twinkie is a biology nerd..na,na,na,na,na,na !!!

Just kidding! I loved Biology in school. Hated Chemistry (math!) and physics(more math). I loved disecting dead critters soaking in formaldyhide. Good Times.

Did anyone notice the COOL avitar of PrincessV???? You must be in on the Fockers thread!! It makes me blush to read but it's alot of fun!

How's the packing coming? Me and Slate are waiting for you to leave so we can descend upon this sweet little work of literature....

Thanks for the lovin'!!!! :grouphug: !!!!

Very well said twinkie mama! I started to reply, but it didn't sound very nice. When we first announced the twins, MIL took credit in saying twins run her family. Woman, how exactly is my reproductive duct work connected to yours? Did Sirius' little swimmers bang on the Ovary House of Eggs or EggleHouse if you prefer, and say hey, we're not leaving til you spit out another one? I mean this with all humor...what part of my hubby caused me to release two eggs? Dee47, I am totally not picking on you! I too read all that stuff TM did about identical twins being a fluke of nature. While I tend to lean towards scienctific fact, I think that there is a family link regarding identical twinning. To me, I think it is entirely possible that an explaination will present itself someday of how either parent's DNA can cause cell division. I don't know how, I am not a scientist, but I'm sure Twinkie Mama will discover this one day, write a book about it, get rich, and buy us all DVC's!

Twinkie Mama, shall we next give a lesson on identical boy girl twins? The Turner Syndrome?
