OK, I am a little sad and a little relieved. Our band season/football season is officially over. (I am in the color guard in my school's marching band). We were supposed to have a rehearsal and a halloween parade yesterday and a game on Friday. So yesterday, during last period, the made an announcement saying that there would be no parade, but we would have a 45 min. practice that night. Later, I tell my friend that I have to go get ready for practice and she said that there is none. So I went onto the band website and it said that there is not game Friday and Football season was officially over. I am kind of glad because it was so cold at the game last Friday and it will only get colder (I couldn't feel my hands half way through the first song). I am also a little sad because band consumed my life and now I have nothing to do during the week. But, the good thing is that starting tomorrow, my color guard will have practice for the school talent show that we are performing in and then a trip to Disney in February! :Pinkbounc

We are the "people with the flags". Basically, we spin/twirl 6 foot long flags while the band plays their music.

My DS has 2 weeks left! Homecoming is Friday night! Whoo=hoo!

My son's life has been revolving around marching band this Fall. We still have a Play off game tomorrow that the band will perform at plus the 100 member band will be going to Disney over Thanksgiving week to march so that's keeping them hyped.

But as a Mom of a band student, I know how you feel because I get all bummed when the Fall marching show is done.

I know the feeling. I was in flags (what they were called in the 80's :teeth: ) in high school and college. There was always a relief that the long practices were over, but a sadness that I wouldn't be doing it for another year.
My dh and I even go back every fall for our university's Homecoming and the Alumni Band marches pre-game, so I still get to do it once a year.

What songs did you play.
Our H.S. band, in which all 4 of my kids were in, now my youngest dd is in, just had their homecoming performance. I wanted to cry. Usually our band is considered the best in the district. They played 4 songs. The last song was our school song. Anyways, it was suppose to be a tribute to movie's. I never heard our school band play such slow music. It almost put everyone to sleep at half-time. They played the theme from Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. All the music was so slow. I was embarassed for my dd and all her band mates. I asked her if her band director ever saw the movie "Drum Line" and she said they watch it all the time. Our band director has been at our school 15 yrs, I don't understand his thinking anymore-why would you want your band to stink.
