Mitsukoshi Department Store

I was at the store about 3 weeks ago during our last trip. One thing I noticed is that they have alot of different kinds of Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards. My nephews collect/swap those and we were going to get some of them but the store closed before we were able to go back. Also, since there were so many kinds, some that we've never seen here in the U.S., we didn't know which ones to get. The prices were about the same as a pack of trading cards here...about $4, but I think there may have been fewer cards per pack.

I almost got some Japanese snacks there. They had a good selection. I like Pocky and those shrimp flavored chips. They were a little more expensive than what I'm used to paying at home, but for snacks in Disney World, they were priced accordingly.

I don't know if they are making the store smaller but they were doing some rearranging after they closed for the night. I peeked in and the workers looked like they were taking everything off one shelf and perhaps moving it elsewhere or putting it away and bringing out new stock?

Our 10 DS loves this place. He saves a lot of his money and has a great time here. Yu gi oh seems to be the rage right now. I have always loved meandering through the store. It was going through a remodel in Nov. It's not what it was, but then again, what is??

We were there in February. The shop did definitely seemed smaller. They do have some nice clocks, lots of Hello Kitty stuff, kimonos (I bought one!) and the pearl thing was great fun. My DD and I each picked one out. My pearl was quite large and we both had ours made into necklaces. It's fun just watching to see what everyone gets from their pearl.

We were there on Sunday and the store seemed MUCH smaller.
We were in a hurry so maybe we missed another part of it or something, but I don't think so.
I love the incense they have there.

My 13 yr old DD always has to get a bag of the Flower Kiss candy at this store. I have to admit I like them too!

I never knew this store was so popular, especially the pearl thing. I have only done this once with my mother. I got a silver pearl (12mm) and she got "twins" (2, 6mm) (two in one oyster).

I definitely do not think this store is being made smaller. I know that the clocks in there are more reasonably priced than other stores I've been to in Orlando. We purchased a clock there for $170 and it cost $218 at a store at Old Town. Good deal if I do say so...and at Disney too!

I've always thought that everything in this store is so beautiful. I'll have to try the snacks next time I am there.

On a sad note...my husband bought a Bonsai tree here and I don't think he took care of it properly and it has now died :( I was definitely healthy when I left the store.

Just out of curiosity ... what do you guys do with the pearls that you get there?

You can purchase a setting right there at the store and they will set it for you. They are very resonably priced. You can also just take it with you and do with it as you please.

I was there in February, and I thought that the Kimono area and selection was smaller...BUT I did notice that they had some really interisting looking Bath-spa type products. They did have quite a few items on clearance but I was flying and I did not buy anything! :(

On a hot May day my DW and DM both picked up a small bamboo fan there which they used a lot that trip. Very nice souvenir and in fact its hanging on my wall right over there, see it? Just hanging around watching the people open their oysters for a pearl was a lot of fun. Especially when they rang the bell for those who found a big white pearl in theirs.

Thanks DVC Nut! I'm going to check that out next time I'm there ... :p

I love all the information you guys have shared!!! My friends and I read this post practically every day -- it's so informative!! I am so excited about this trip! I think I'm going to print out this post and cram (Literally... Cram;) ) it into my Passporter. Thanks so much!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

DznyMom -- I do remember the kimonos, they were beautiful! I have a friend who is Japanese and she has several of them. She uses them for festivals and cerimonies. It's very interesting. What does yours look like?

DW Goofy -- I remember the fans, too. Deb has a picture of them on her web-site. I thought that would be a good souvenir for my mom... Besides all the pins she's requesting. :D

::Crossing Fingers:: Maybe they'll have good sales going on while I'm there! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Thanks again to everyone!!! :D :D :D

One more thing... Is the pearl area hard to find?

When I was there last May, the pearl tank was pretty crowded... I had to stand on my tippy toes to see what everyone was looking at :p ... If that one is too busy, I think there's also a pearl tank in DTD.
