misty mates?

Hello. I was thinking of getting a couple of misty mates. What size do you think is best? 16 oz. or smaller? Is it heavy to carry? Do they really work as good as everyone says? Is it better than the battery spray fans? Thanks everyone!

We just bought one"reduced for quick sale" at Wal Mart for $5. I think it is a 16oz. This one fits around the waist like a fanny pack, so I dont see any trouble with"who is gonna carry it"The battery spray fans seem heavy to me, that is why we will try the misty this trip.

I could not agree with you more... the batteries make the fan heavier & no one wants to carry it, even with the strap. This trip I am not using the fan part, I just took off the fan addition & only using the sprayer... all I need is the water on me... I will see how it works out this time

We splurged at the park and bought the Disney misty fans---16 bucks a piece, I think??? The kids didn't mind carrying them, and they were handy when it got really hot, but the first one broke about an hour after we bought it! DH found another misty fan vendor, and was suprised when he exchanged it for a new one, no questions asked. Well, from then on, every time one of the darn things broke, we found a vendor and exchanged again. We got a new misty fan from EVERY SINGLE PARK, probably 5+ times.

They may be overpriced, but you can't beat that exchange policy......

We enjoyed having them back in the day when we had a stroller and no one had to carry them. Now we have the smaller hand held ones that will fit in our fanny packs and aren't as heavy. One has a really small squirt bottle and the other is just a fan.

We are going in July for seven days so I do believe I will be investing in the Misty Mate. I have really heard good things about them.

I've actually had a tough time trying to find them around here...kinda ridiculous considering people also use them at the beach.

The Walmart people here didn't even know what I was talking aobut at first! C'mon this is FLORIDA!

Anyway, I had more luck at the Dollar Store. Picked up 2 of the mister fans, they're pretty lightweight even with the batteries. I will probably just bring one with us, dd doesn't like to be misted anyway (of course, when she realizes how hot she'll be maybe she'll change her mind!)

I've seen them in Target but they are bulkier. You can also find those little spray bottles everywhere which would be real compact to carry.

I bought one at Disneyland last summer, and my DD and I took turns carrying it (and spraying each other!). The sprayer is sort of heavy, but I carried it like a purse after a while!

The $17 investment is worth it when it's 90 degrees in the shade!!

Does the Misty Mate exchange policy only apply if you bought it at WDW/? We have ordered them online. Did you need to show a receipt to get the exchange?

I never had to show a receipt, but it helped that they were selling the same exact fans all over all the parks.

Same thing here in NE FL! We live on the beach, and the 5 employees I asked at Wal-Mart had no clue what I was talking about!

Where in Wal-Mart (what department) do they stock these things?

Just to clarify, the Misty Mate is not the same thing as those spray fans that you see in the parks. Disney does not sell Misty Mates but they do sell those fans everywhere.

Again to clarify, Costco is selling genuine misty mates in a package of two for $26.99. They are far superior to the mist fans that break.

I am not having any luck finding these. I asked at WalMart and the guy looked at me like I had two heads.

I will try Costco.

I also got a very strange look when I asked someone at WalMart about the Misty Mate.

I found mine at Walgreens this weekend. Paid $19.99 for it.
They also had a smaller sport model for a little less.

The mistymates and the spray fans are in the fan dept at my wallmart. next to the hardware dept. I think alll walmarts are set up the same.

Yes that is also where they sent me to look for them. (hardware dept.) But they only had the spray fans. Not the misty mate.

I'll confirm they are in the fan/hardware dept at Walmart. They have a generic kind, bought ours 2 years ago there and they still work pretty good.

I do have a ? about the Misty Mates. What makes them different then the others? It sounds/looks like they don't have batteries, so how do they work?
