Misty mates. Do you need one?

I took ours out to get ready for our trip and my son ran around the back yard for over an hour misting himself and all the plants. I guess if you are a kid it's also a great toy! :earboy2:

also brought a spray fan. usually we love these, but it was so hot we ditched left them after the first day, till we got to AK. really needed everything there, the fan, misty mate and neck coolies.

what helped us the most was getting out of the heat after lunch, coming back for supper. or the day we stayed, we had a long lunch in a sit down rest. and then a long show. that helps alot!

Thank you CHris for the great "store location" information. I went back to Walmart, went to hardware, looked for humidifiers, and THERE THEY WERE! (Last palce I would've put them). I guess Walmart considers Misty Mates air conditioning. Anyway... $13.88 as reported. Bought 2! Thanks guys!!

Lots of people are getting confused between "Misters" and "Misty Mates"

the misters you can get in disney are just those little water bottles with a fan attached.

Misty Mates are FAR superior.. and I NEVER leave home without mine. I use it at the beach.. at the pool.. at ball games... bike riding.. at the park... they are just soooo Cool.. (pun intended!) and so many people just are amazed by them.. DO NOT buy them directly from Misty Mate.. too expensive..you can find them around... BJ's wholesale has them right now also... Definitely worth the investment.. you will get lots of use out of it...

Just some hints on useage though..

1. Do NOT leave it in your car in direct sunlight.. the casing will crack from the pressure that builds up..

2. when you need to open up the top it can sometimes get stuck from the pressure. I have found that if you unscrew the tip off of the end of the tube.. the air will come out (as well as some water!!) relieving the pressure and viola.. it opens!

3. Definitely put ice in it... makes it soooo much cooler!

Enjoy!

What about mid to late October? Would a misty mate be needed that time of the year? Were only going for 2 days...and have gone back and forth on getting one or two...but felt it may not be needed at that time of year...

October weather can still be HOT in FL. If you have a Walmart nearby, pick one up. For $14 you will likely use it some day. They are small, and not a big deal to carry (it seems). Who knows, you may do like me and end up going to WDW in August someday after you SWORE you would NEVER go in the summer! (Okay, I know... never say never!)

We have used the spray bottles with the fan attached to the top and have loved them. I bought us each one at Wal-Mart before we left for $5 a piece. We drive, so packing them wasn't an issue for us. They were very helpful in keeping cool while at the parks. And, they had a shoulder strap so it wasn't difficult for each of us to carry our own. And, if our son didn't feel like carrying his all day, I would either carry it with mine, I quite often feel like a pack mule on our Disney trips, or we would leave it in the room and he could just use mine or my wife's. He wears glasses and he would just take them off when he would spray the water and put them right back on. It wasn't a problem at all for him.
