Hello ~
I have never heard of mister fans.
I did a google search and found one model that is like a handheld water gun, with rubber fan. Uses 1 battery. $7.97.
Is this the mister fan you're all talking about?
I'm going to WDW next month. Thinking of ordering one of these for my 14 year old son.
Thanks for any further input!

Hi there!

Actually them come in all shapes and sizes.. The ones that I got on clearance a couple of years ago were shaped like a fat water bottle - and then had the foam-type fan on the end.. I've seen them shaped like soccer balls, baseballs, etc., but they were smaller..

Check your local drug stores and Walmart etc., to see if you can get a better price.. Once in awhile they even have some smaller ones in the Dollar Stores!

If you're going to Florida any time when it's going to be hot, you'll be SOOOOO glad that you got it! Make sure you get one for yourself too!!!

Thanks Ann, for the response.

As I checked this board, I realized how many postings there were for "mister fans".

I'll look @Walmart today. Since our weather up here is seldom (average less than 7 days a year) above the 90 degree mark, we don't have much use for mister fans!

It's actually supposed to go to 57 degrees today, June 1! :(

No wonder I can't wait to get to Florida & Disney!!

Thanks again & have a nice day.

I did not find a mister fan at our local Walmart, Kmart, Dollar Store or Dollar General. I did however find one @ Walgreens in the summer aisle. It takes 2 AA batteries & was $7-8.00. It has a strap to carry:) I only bought one, thinking now I might go back & buy another one. We have 3 kiddies.

Hey! I'm in upstate NY too!! I bought so many of those mister fans when they were on clearance I have enough left to throw a few new ones up on eBay - ha! We went to Disney in Sept. 2001 and I never, EVER would have gotten through that trip without them!! It was SOOOOOO hot and humid.. Guess us northerners just don't do that well in the heat..

Beautiful day - huh? Rainy, windy, chilly.. Oh well - it FORCES me to stay inside and get more stuff listed on eBay to finance my next trip to Disney in December..;)

Have a nice day!!

o.k. the local Walmart actually stocks mister fans! :)

I bought two. $5.94 each. They have a shoulder strap & require 2 AA batteries.

I'm really pleased that they were so easy to find. My son is thrilled. (He remembers people having them at WDW our last trip ~ guess I wasn't paying attention. Too busy looking @everthing Disney!)

I love this board! :Pinkbounc 24 days & counting!

p.s. Ann: Your whole ebay routine is admirable. I keep thinking about posting some "stuff", but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Our next trip is April '04, so maybe I'll get serious about ebay by then. I have made purchases from ebay... ;)

Where in Walmart did you find them? I looked all through ours in Sterling VA yesterday and couldn't find them. We have one, but I want to pick up another so my 2 dds won't fight over them. I've got about a month to find one.

Over in Fairfax, Virginia at the Walmart in Fair Lakes Center they were with all the other fans, in hardware of all places. Oscillating fans, Table fans, floor fans, box fans....MIST FANS!! Eureka....and they were just under $6.

See if that is where they are hiding in Sterling, before you drive over to Fairfax. (Believe me, I looked EVERYWHERE first - seasonal, sporting, toys, front end impulse buys - before I found them.)

Either stop and ask at the Service Desk or try:

Where the large fans are
Where the sun tan lotion is located

Heh, I've looked for them 3 times in walmart and the last time I had 3 employees looking around for them. The only thing they found was a great big bottle thing with hand pump that turned the fan and squirted water. Next time I'm in I'll check hardware...if that's where it is then they REALLY need help placing items....perhaps with summer seasonal items, perhaps at the checkouts, perhaps with the pool toys but hardware? shesh

o.k. where to find the fans @Walmart:

I strolled straight back to the fans. Nothing.
Over to camping supplies. Nothing.
Pool stuff & summer fun toys. Nothing.
Coolers ~ seasonal. Nothing.

Just as I was getting ready to ask a Walmart worker, I rounded
a corner ~ and there they were! :D

I was actually in an aisle between the paper products & electronics dept. I'm sorry, I can't remember what was placed immediately around them. Was so excited to find them!!

They were not in w/other seasonal stuff.

Good luck!

Workin4vacation,
I was just at Walmart yesterday picking up mister fans too! You don't happen to shop at the one on Rt. 31 in Clay, do you? Wouldn't that have been funny? We got one for each of our boys. We had a Dis Meet at Carousel Center to see Finding Nemo yesterday. Wish I would have seen your post earlier - we could have invited you all along.

Hi hulagirl!

No, I was at the Walmart in Oswego.

I have shopped at the Walmart on Rt. 31 though! I spend time @Great Northern, B.J.'s Club, & I love the new T.J. Maxx complex! Small world, huh?

You stated you leave in 27 days?

My trip starts in 23 days! We're staying @the Swan ~ we were upgraded due to the Port Orleans French Quarter closing. Where are you staying?

Have you seen the new airfare deal out of Syracuse directly into Orlando? You fly into Sanford, non-stop. It's about 18 miles outside of Orlando. $69.00 pp, comes out to $138.00 pp round trip if you book online. I've already got my family's tickets for next Spring break! :Pinkbounc

As for Finding Nemo, well, my sons are 17 & 14, so I'm afraid they would've thought that was "lame".

Nice to meet you!! I'm off to work now. Gotta make those dollars for Disney! ;)

hulagirl:

I forgot to add that the new airline is Trans Meridian.
Just in case you didn't already know...

Bye for now!

Walmart has them where the fans and air conditions are in St. Louis, MO. I wish i bought them there. I bought 4 on ebay for only 9.99 (plus $7 s/h). They were new in the package. but the ones at walmart ($6.95 a piece) had a strap on it so they can be worn around the neck or shoulders. Ebay has a bunch of them. Look under water or misty fan.

I cannot believe that you guys aren't finding these things - I stumble over them everywhere. I saw them at Genovese, Waldbaums (grocery store) ODD JOB (dollar store), I got three at the dollar store here for $3.99 each. Maybe living in NY isn't so bad after all - I get to breathe in pollution all day but I'm lousy with mister fans (LOL).

I saw them down in Kissimmee at the Walmart on our last trip too, and a few other touristy places - for about $6 or $7 if I'm remembering right. If you guys are going to have a car maybe it'll be worth it just to wait till you get there.

Definetly don't buy them in the world - I paid $17.00 for my first one before I found out you could get them other places.

well if you live near a boy scout store, they have some mister fans in the Jamboree clearance area for less than 2.00 that are compact and work really well. Definately the best price I have found.

Another neat thing is the little fan that goes around your neck - without the water. They have those at Kmart - my gram used them for her hot flashes :p

They are very small so they aren't a drag to lug around.

My Wally World still doesn't have them but I got something else just to check it out and it's pretty slick. If you look in the same area there are these things that mist water. It's a water bottle that has a cover over it (blue, wine) with a actual belt that you can sling over your shoulder or around your waist. After filling the bottle with water it has a hand pump which you pump 20+ times then put the cover over it. After that you just open the valve and it sprays a real fine mist of water out the end.

I didn't think I would like it because it's kind of bulky but it's really quite neat. You have to look for them though. There is another type like it but it doesn't have a cover/belt strap and cost more.

The kind with the cover/belt strap on cost $6. Since I'm going to be carrying a backpack anyway I figure Ill stick it in the backpack and run the tube out the top unless the kids want to play with it and spray each other. (Or me spray them for that matter :jester: )

I was just at Zany Brainy- they are going out of business -they had a load of the mister fans - they were $2.50 each. Maybe they have them on their web site too!!
