mistake on my contract

Hi everyone! I received my closing papers through email today and noticed that the abbreviation for the state in which I live is wrong. It says MA instead of ME for Maine. I went back to my copy of the contract and sure enough, it also says MA. Does anyone know if this is an easily fixed mistake or if I have to sign a new contract and go through ROFR again? Thanks!

If your address is listed, and is incorrect on the deed itself, I should think the closing company could draw a new deed, which you would need to have notarized. Otherwise, I don't know if it makes much difference for the rest of the paperwork, as members do move. I think they simply need to inform member accounting/records. I would contact your resale agent and closing company for clarification of what is involved, and if changes are necessary.

It may be easiest just to move to Massachusetts.

That should be a correctible error - I would contact the closing company to let them advise you and I would also contact DVC , once you are in the system, to make sure they have your correct address (the DVC correction should be quite simple - and VERY important). There should not need to be any other ROFR or resubmitting the offer - this is simply a clerical error.

You signed a paper saying that you would cooperate with any clerical errors that occurred during the process. The closing company is obligated by LAW to correct any clerical errors.
Call, tell them there was a typo, and it will be fine. I promise!
