Scarlet: she closed her eyes and smiled. "Yeah. Exactly. I know what Sidney said was true, but I really do appreciate the help. I'd be able to complete the mission most of the time, I just like knowing that there are people there to help."

Mason: he nodded then quietly said "don't take what Sidney says too personally." In his normal voice he said "We're there to help. I'M there to help. It's why HQ exists."

He really wanted to let himself like Scarlet, but he knew it was a bad idea for them to get involved as it could distract from work, and in some ways it was even worse with her as a field agent and him in HQ since it was his job to protect them and he didn't want to be seen as playing favorites.
