so what do you think of a 7 year old on mission space , how old were your kids when they first went on? did they like it?

Well, my DD was 14, so that doesn't help you much, but I did see many younger kids on MS. They all seemed fine, except one girl (about 8 or 9) who got very motion sick.

You will have to be the judge on how your own child will handle it, good luck. :sunny:

worse ride I ever went on. I guess when I saw the barf bags next to me it should have given me a clue.

My DD was 6 1/2 the first time she rode it, this past December. She loved it and rode it about 4 different times.

She is a daredevil though. She LOVES all the rides....Rock & Rollercoaster being her favorite.

That being said, she did hear on the news about the 4 year old. She has now stated she will NOT be riding it again. And she didn't in June.

We let her decide which rides she is up for. If she meets the requirements and wants to try it, we're on. Guess what she's never tried??? Haunted Mansion :rotfl2: We've tried to explain the ride to her, but since it has the word "haunted" in it, it's a no go!!!!

My DD was 6 last summer and LOVED M:S, she rode it twice (that's twice as many times as me LOL!) and is dying to do it again. Her little brother has heard all about it and is begging to go on it this year, he was too little last year. He'll only be 5 this trip but I'll let him try it, he's been eating a lot this year so he would be big enough for Space Mtn and M:S the only 2 rides he couldn't do last year.

We all skipped it last year, and will again this year. I personally think its way too intense. Anything with barf bags puts me off right away. I think you need to watch a few times with people coming off and see how they look. Can you ride it solo first, and see? Anyway, good Luck!

We just got back Sunday (14th)....my 7 yr. old daughter rode it for
the first time and loved it. She hit the magical 48" mark this trip, and loved
all the big thrillers.

My two DD 8's loved it. One DD and I have "issues" with some types of motion (some rides, long car trips, etc.) but we both did fine on M:S. My girls were so busy trying to drive the rocket (they really took it seriously) that I don't think they had time to worry too much about the motion. I did see at least one kid outside the ride looking a bit ill (guessing about a 9 year old).

my exact words many times since my ride last year. My friends love to hear my story of how I barfed all over France after riding MS!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Well, my 7yr old rode it and liked it. DH rode it once and was nauseous for the next few hours (he's 35.) I rode it the first time with a head cold and didn't feel good for about an hour afterwards, but when I rode it with DS I was fine.

It really depends on your kid.

Can someone kindly explain what happens on the ride? I mean does the ride spins or how is it intense? The ride sounds very intense to have a barf bag in each seat. Thanks for the infos. One more question please... Do they have this at Disneyland or California Adventure? TIA!

My DS was 4 1/2 last year, and tall enough to ride it---he LOVED it, and rode it as many times as DH would take him. It made his older brothers green, tho.

Fantasia:
This is a ride that spins in a circular pattern at very high speeds which simulates gravitational forces closely associated with space travel as we know it. You don't see the actual structure of the ride since it is covered with the space ship shell. It is currently spinning at a lower speed than it was designed and is adjusted downward as incidents reviews advise.

During the course of the ride you are suppose to watch the screen in front of you as if you are looking out a window or monitor of what is going on outside the ship. You are assigned a specific job to perform within a five man crew station based upon the seat you occupy upon entering the ride. You will receive prompts from the command station in front of each rider. Reaching out to push a button or control a control stick will require a little effort since the ride does produce of level of 'G' force. During this entire ride you will have direct air blowing on your face...to assist in reducing the amount of riders getting sick.

There are a few things that Disney reminds riders not to do during the ride. Do not look to the side and do not close your eyes. If you try to look and see how others in the 5 seat compartment are doing you or close your eyes you may start to have the feelings of motion sickness.

Thanks MissionMouse for the infos. It sounds like this ride is not for me and I don't want to take the change of getting sick.

We have ridden this ride several times. My DW and DD(8) can't handle the ride but my DS(10) and I enjoyed it greatly. We both love thrill rides so it is a "no-brainer" for us. The liftoff is intense. It gives you the feeling like your face is going to flatten out. If anyone ever wants to get rid of the wrinkles, this ride can do it.

My ds was 7 when he first rode it. He didn't have a problem. Me on the other hand did! I didn't feel right for a good 3 hours afterward. I usually don't get sick on the rides but that one I did.

My 4 year old doesn't do so hot on the teacups even and I won't put him on it at all, wouldn't even consider it because of his age and because I know he wouldn't do well being that teacups are his cup of tea ;)

When he gets older and can handle that type of thing maybe, but we'll cross that bridge if we get to it.

I don't know how mission space is a ride. I've never had motion sickness of any kind. Boats, planes, cars, nothing. I was dizzy and "sick" for about 1 1/2 hours after I got off this ride and my DW was nausous(sp?) and headache/dizzy for at least 2hrs. If there was a manager to complain to, I'd have done it. I was just glad to have riden a few things before mission space, or I would have been extremely upset. There's no way I would ride anything after that. We simply ate(le cellier) and left. It ruined the day for us and I wouldn't ride it again if you paid me.
To this day I get dizzy and I've never had that problem until Mission Space.
Didn't a child die? Shouldn't that be enough reason to shut it down?

I second that about shutting the ride down. I think that Disney may have crossed the line with this ride, concideing how many people not feel well after riding it. And sometimes the only way to tell is to ride it. I'm not ruining my trip with that chance.

How'd you make it all the way to France? I never made it off the ride! :earboy2:

As a strong supporter of our military, I felt it was my patriotic duty to suffer and hold off until I could lose it all on France. "I regret that I have but one barf to give for my country."

OK, Really, I just kept getting sicker and knew that I had to "purge" myself in order to hope for a decent day....just happened to be in France. I then went and relaxed with my eyes closed in the American Heritage Theater!
