Hey everyone! I was talking about Mission: Space to my neighbor this morning, who was in Disney World last week. We've both been on the Orange Team, more intense one, when we've been on it. [I've never been on the less one.]
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried going on the Green one, less intense?
If so, which one did you like better?

honestly...i didn't even know there were two sides...lol

i just am too distracted of talking to my dad on what ride we are going to go on next to notice!!!! LOL

- steph -

there wasn't always two was there????? coz when i went it was brand new and we only had the 1 version which i think is the orange i honestly thoughtit was boring and lame so i wouldnt try the green on that basis

When did they open the gentler version? Was it there from the beginning? I don't remember there being a choice last time I went.

They opened the green version this past May I think.

the orange one use to be faster and then they change it after the boy died and everyone was being sick
i like the orange one mission space is my fav ride it is very interessting

Yeah, the orange side was always there. and they did have to tone it down. =[

never tried the green side but i heard it's the same just without the G force and seeing pictures of the ride since then (well the queue line) it showed there was a huge line for green and only about 4 people in line for orange (this was when it first opened) so if it's like that when i go definately orange

quick fact... DYK they spray the scent of peppermint after the ride since it relieves nausia (sp?)

I've been on both. The green side to me it's pretty pointless (why bother?), and I'm even upset that they toned down the orange. I still love it though.

Orange side! Although when we went it was only 30 minutes and 110 minutes for orange. We were like  !!!! But we stuck to the orange. But then it when down to 40 after a while. A LOT of people must have chickened out or something! lol

The Orange side, or original ride, has never been toned down since Mission: Space officially opened.

I'm really glad someone else said it. I didn't think it had but I wasn't going to post because I guarantee nothing but I'm glad you did.

Just to add my 2 cents here on the orange vs green thing, if you're not up for the spinning, don't go on. I don't like that they changed it to add another at all. I may just be bitter that my single rider's line is gone but I don't think that it should be changed because people who didn't listen to signs went on anyway. I'm not looking for a fight or even a response but I wanted to add my ever strong opinion.

i've been on both the orange and the green. . .and i prefer the orange more intense version the green to me is kind of lame for me. . .to me the only thing different about the green is that you dont spin so you dont feel the take off.

I will NEVER go on a ride where more then 3 people have died on.

Even though the ride didn't cause those 3 people to die? That's why I hate the media, they make people think the ride caused those deaths.

It was the intesity of the ride, I did a report on those people for school. So it WAS the ride.

The death of a German woman after riding the Walt Disney World's Mission: Space ride at Epcot Center has lead to new questions about the park’s safety and Disney’s accountability. The fatality is the second death in a year related to the ride and several riders have been treated for chest pain.

Hiltrud Bleumel, a 49-year old woman from outside of Frankfurt, died after becoming ill from the ride and suffering from bleeding in the brain. A CT scan showed significant hypertensive bleeding and she was pronounced dead less than 24 hours after her arrival at Celebration Hospital.

The $100 million ride spins riders in a centrifuge that is so intense that it equals twice the force of normal gravity. The accident comes on the heels of the death of 4 year old Daudi Bamuwamye last June, who suffered from a rare heart condition.

No actually it wasn't the ride, the 4 year old boy who died had an undiagnosed heart condition. He could of died watching TV. And the 49 year old woman had High Blood Pressure which caused bleeding in her brain, she too could of died just watching TV. After doing this research I also noticed there wasn't a 3rd person who died.

Still doesn't change my position at all, there are plenty more cases, and I do know a few that don't have "medical" problems either.

There aren't anymore cases dealing with death though. Do you mean people who have become ill after the ride? If that's what you mean then it's called motion sickness. It's not that uncommon. What do you expect from a ride which uses technology to train astronauts?
