Mission space, worth it?

I've never been on mission space before, last time I was in WDW my best friend had decided she would never get on that ride again. This time I'm going with DBF. I don't really care for soarin or test track. Would it be worth it to work in going to Epcot just to ride mission space and go to the disney visa character M&G. We have EMH for animal kingdom in the morning we were planning on being there from 8-1 and then taking a pool break til our first FP at HS at 6:40.

IMO Mission Space is awful. I finally went on it my last trip and really didn't like it. We are going again this September and I wont even consider going on it again. So to answer your question I would not go to Epcot just for that. Not sure what to tell you about the M&G.

I don't know if I would specifically go to EPCOT just for Mission: Space. I don't mind the green side and had never done the orange (since I don't care for spinning much) until last year. My husband and I went last June and he hates roller coasters, but rode all of them with me, so I did the orange side with him. I like the fact that I have now crossed it off my list of things I have to try, but will not do it again. Although I have been known to go out of my way for one thing before (here's looking at you Dole Whip!).

If you do want to ride it and go to the Visa character meet and greet, I would suggest after your pool break heading to EPCOT and doing the meet and greet and riding Mission: Space then take the International Gateway out of the park to the EPCOT reaort area and Hollywood Studios boats and ride those over to Hollywood Studios.

I went on the orange side with my oldest boys last trip. I really felt it was meh. The show part is cool, the ride itself is not that great and pretty cramped/claustrophobic. None of us thought it was that fun, just a bunch of flipping switches and pushing buttons...I certainly don't see the draw and am happy to skip it from here on out...

We love it and do it every time. We always do the "full" experience. I think it's kind of pointless to do the "light version". Some here have argued that they can't do the ride if they didn't have the light version. And I sympathize. Except it's the same with any thrill rides... if you hate roller coasters, you don't do Space Mountain or Expedition Everest... they don't have a version of those rides that's a train on flat ground... But I digress, we love it, we always do it.

I agree with this. But then I wouldn't waste all the transportation time just for one or 2 attractions at ANY park.
I agree, the only reason I consider it is that we will be at HS that night and would be able to take the boat over from Epcot. I've never done this before though so I'm not sure of the travel time.

The boat doesn't take too long. I would say go for it. It's better to do it than not do it and regret it later. Try the "orange" side as it is the full ride experience as it was originally intended, and usually the wait time is much shorter than the green. The spinning is circular, but does not feel circular if you keep your eyes open. It can be fun if you get a good "crew" to interact with and laugh with inside. And there's a cute little exit game to enjoy as well.

Honestly, I loved Mission Space. Buuuuuuuut, I also love Soarin'. It's worth a first try? But it also comes down to personal experience and preference. What other people might love, you may not and vice versa.

Thanks! We just might try it, I guess it will all come down to our preference that day, whether we feel like relaxing before HS or are ready to go explore some more before our HS Fp!

We did the Green and Orange back to back this last April while doing drinking around the world. Didn't really see a lot of difference between the two to be honest. Would do it again though. Was fun interacting with the people on the ride with you.

I can't imagine spending that much time/effort for a single ride unless you already are a HUGE (and I mean VERY HUGE) fan of it.

That being said, I have done the orange side several times, but the last time I did it will be the LAST time. I just can't do the spinning any more. Although you don't really feel like your spinning (because of the environment they have you in), you feel the pressure changes (which is really what it's all about to coincide with the story line). I haven't done the green line, but if my DDs want to do it at all, I will go with them. If they do Orange, I will do green.

If you have the time and don't mind sacrificing some of your pool break, I say go for it just to say you did it. But only if you're going to do the Orange Side because you can experience slight motion simulation at any of the parks - you don't need the Green Side for that. (Plus, if you don't care for Soarin' much I don't think you'd like the Green Side, either. Soarin' is better than that!)

I always do Mission Space when I'm in Epcot, though ironically I don't think we'll be doing it in September since the SO can't handle spinning. As long as you look straight ahed, though, I don't think you can really tell it's spinning per say. It's really just excessive g-forces, which is pretty cool.

Thanks for the info everyone! I think I will leave that part of my vacation up in the air (something I hardly ever do). Depending on how I'm feeling, how long AK takes and how long our pool break lasts we will decide if we have the time! If we do go ahead and do it we will certainly be doing the Orange side! I'm fine with that kind of stuff, gravitron at our town fair is similar to it, and I've always loved it!

I will never do that ride again. I love the rest of the rides at WDW but that one. I literally sat with DH for over an hour on a bench outside afterwards just to get my head straight again. It also turned our tummies to frappe mode, if you know what I mean, making the rest of the day not enjoyable.

My friend and her daughter have asthma. She says they both had attacks on Mission Space.

IF you go to Epcot to ride Mission Space, DO THE ORANGE SIDE (more intense version). We love it and ride it multiple times. You can really feel the G-Forces. Would I go to Epcot just to ride Mission Space? I probably wouldn't go to any park just to ride one ride. Visit the pavilions, find a good place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the orange version of mission space. You may want to avoid the ride if you have a weak stomach (Orange version). The green version is not as much fun, but you won't have to worry about a weak stomach. Another fun ride at Epcot (If it's still there, is Sum of all Thrills located inside innovations).

If you are prone to nausea from simulations, then don't go.

For us, we LOVE it. It really puts you in the fantasy of taking off into space. But that's just the thing... it's enclosed space, while pulling Gs. Not for everyone.

There IS a "green" option. And some have argued that it allows you to "ride the ride" without the spinning/nausea. But the way I see that is like riding Space Mountain if they were to have a "flat track" option ( a train ). That option must be kind of boring.
