Is it true that this attraction no longer spins? I have never ridden this before and was worried that the spinning would have me queazy all day. I reall y hope that it doesn't spin because I really want to ride it.

Those who have ridden lately, your feedback is helpful.

that information is not true. It does still spin. In fact, the attraction cannot function in it's form without spinning.

I could be wrong if they did this in the last few weeks but, when I was there recently it spun, and if it didn't they may as well close the attraction.

Hi
I've read that half of it spins and the other half doesn't. There are two lines and the CM will direct you as to what line to get in. I have never tried this either, but will probably try the non-spinning side in August. If you do a search, I'm sure you can read a lot more about it from people that have just returned and had the experience of riding it.

You now have the option of riding the one that spins and one that doesn't. The cast member outside the entrance gives you a colored ticket (orange or green) and sends you into the proper line. I rode Mission Space when it first opened and I hated it. I felt sick for a few hours after. I was glad I experienced it but said never again. Last friday DD and I went over to EPCOT for a few hours and decided to give the new "lite" version a try. It was great. I was able to interact with the ride this time. If you are the slightest bit clostrophodic I will warn you the console moves in place in front of you quickey. You then seem to tilt back for lift off. I don't want to give anymore away than that but it is a lot of fun and I can't wait to do it again. Oh, the wait, the sign side a 20 minute wait, I don't think we waited more then 5 minutes.

So which is better? Spinning or Non-spinning?

I just LOVE the untamed version. It's my favorite ride at Disney. But then again, I haven't ridden Expedition Everest yet!

Any thrill ride fanatic who didn't get sick will say spinning, anyone who DID get sick or gets sick easily would say non-spinning, that's strictly a matter of preference since other than that they are the exact same ride in every detail.

I rode the untamed version and it was awesome. It did make me woozy for several hours but I have to admit that the effects and realism were unbelievable. That said, I will probably never ride it untamed again due to the feeling. But it is still an awesome ride!!!

My DH and I have rode Mission Space many times with no ill effects. We were down a few weeks ago and did both versions back to back. We did the spinning side first and the non-spinning second. I was honestly surprised at how good the non-spinning side is. There is a little less pressure on your chest and the feeling of your face being pulled back, but other than that the rides felt virtually identical. Again, this could just be our opinion, but we thought the tamer side gave almost the exact same ride experience but hopefully it is safer and will not make people as sick.

Okay I went on this ride in Jan. It is basically a big centrifuge. I don't see how some of it spins and some of it doesn't. I also don't know how you would feel anything other than moving forward and back a little like in a rocking chair without the spinning. Isn't the spinning what causes the G force. Anyhow for what it's worth I went on it spinning and it feels more like getting pushed back in your seat. You don't really realize that you are actually spinning.

My daughter and I rode the non-spin version 5 times in one day two weeks ago. The sign would say 20 minute wait, but it was more like 5-10 minutes. We were obviously pleased with the ride without the worry of being uneasy for a few hours.

There are two separate queues, qreen and orange. The orange side still spins while the green does not. They are separate "vehicles". We all rode the green side together and it was fine for first-timers who were unsure how they would react to the regular version. As soon as we finished DH, DD15 and my friend's DD9 rode the old version and loved it! DH said they were instructed not to look around, but he averted his eyes to look at the 9yo and quickly learned why he was told not to.

Hmmm, very interesting. I guess I have to look at it again in August when I go. I remembered something that looked like a circular room with the "vehicles" all connected by arms to the center. And I thought that it spun all the cars around the circular room (like a merry go round, but way faster). I still can't picture how some vehicles spin and some don't unless there are actually 2 rooms or something. Actually maybe I do remember the separate ones. I don't know. I won't know until I get there again and I'll probably be like, "oh, duh, that's what it is"

Thanks :)

Jim

There are multiple bays / rooms. I thought there were something like 4 of them, I'll have to ask my friend who used to work there
